  • During an expedition to Polynesia, the Cousteau team explores an underwater volcano known as MacDonald Seamount, or Tamarii in Polynesian. The rusty red lava that forms the dome of the seamount comes from a hot spot that, millions of years ago, gave birth to the southern islands of Polynesia. Now Calypso's divers are witness to early signs of a new islands birth. Just days after the ship leaves, there will be a full eruption of rocks, steam and gas bubbles.
