  • On October 18-20, 2022, I went on pilgrimage to All-Merciful Saviour Monastery on Vashon Island in the Salish Sea. The primary purpose of the trip was to go on a spiritual retreat, however I also took video footage on my iPhone as a way of documenting the experience. I tried to be as unobtrusive as possible with my filming so as not to disturb the rhythm of life of the monastery. With the blessing of the Abbot of the monastery I have created this short film as a way of sharing with others what it is like there. At present there are five tonsured monks living at the monastery, as well as one novice. The brotherhood supports themselves by selling coffee, handmade soaps and bath products, as well as prayer ropes. Please visit the monastery website: store.vashonmo...

Vashon Island is primarily inhabited by the "woke" and LGBTQ+ community, and when you drive to the monastery you will see the virtue signaling signs and flags on the homes on the island. Then you get to the monastery itself, and it's a beautiful and serene property, which feels completely separated from the rest of the island. They entered via the Tacoma side through Pt Defiance Park, but one can get a ferry from the Seattle side as well.
