  • Learn from John Shook, who was the first American manager at Toyota's operations in Japan! You'll hear why Lean leadership is the key in implementing Lean methodologies successfully. During this keynote, Shook demonstrates how to spread the Lean culture throughout your organization, and why you as a leader are responsible for Lean's success or failure.
    You'll see and hear:
Why mastery of the tools of Lean production is necessary (but not sufficient) for leaders
How the "right" leadership style supports Lean transformation
Best practices and advice from the NUMMI collaboration
What TPS really should stand for (and why)
About "Go See", "Ask Why", and "Show Respect"
Shook's take on the current state of the economy, and how it affects Lean
    and more

That was an excellent presentation by John Shook.
I have had 17yrs experience at Toyota Aust, been trained in Japan & Thailand in problem solving and have learned much about the Toyota Production System & how it really works. Johns observation, anecdotes and careful (but succinct) delivery elaborates clearly on what TPS is about. This is worth watching. Thanks John

Definitely a big learning opportunity and one needs to listen to it over and over again....and so much to think about and assimilate into one owns system.... ! Brilliant stuff :)

Lean tools are not kaizen. Lean tools are to make kaizen. Make the process design to expose waste and improve the work. Great stuff !

Great speech. I work as quality professional and I always struggle to help people who does not own their process, yet blame others for their own performance. The do not accept advice yet, they need help ! Dictators and screaming for help in the same time ! This speech sum it all....Thank you,

Almost an hour and ten minutes and the "lean" guy hardly said anything useful. How about next time making a lean version, get to the point, gee wiz... terrible lead time on the information.
