    I thank you for being thorough & precise, now i might attempt replacing the arm that broke when it was crashed into the house shortly after receiving the drone. 🤫

    Offering a general comment to those that may benefit from this arm replacement in the future. After owning my 720E for several months and 20+ flights, the last two resulted in "fly-aways" and crashes, the final one resulted in a broken arm. In hindsight, I believe the prop had begun to loosen; it might have come completely off and resulted in the crash. My advice is to check your props to ensure they're well-fastened prior to each flight! Good luck to all, MP

      I had mine go into point of interest mode after I press the go to home button. Ofcourse it crashed hard at full speed. I had it on low speed. I am wondering if its a phone issue can you tell me what type of phone you was using?

    Excellent video, thank you very much!! We were able to bring my son's drone back to life after an accidental crash the day he got if for his birthday. Glue only lasted so long and now, thanks to your video, it has a brand new arm and it's as good as new again!

    OK major major thank y for this fantastic video. Like you I crashed my drone and thought it was curtains. But after watching your video, I ordered the part and replaced the rear left arm did, all the soldering, took it outside, armed the rotors and bingo everything works perfectly. Again thank you for this clear, concise, and developmental video which is superior in its instructional value. We should all chip in and get you a present :-)
    By the way, I was wrong down below in my comment. The wires on the new arm are already tinned and SO easy to solder!

    Thanks for this. My new HS720E was flown less than 2 minutes before I had to kill the motor due to a mishap. It fell maybe 4 feet, and that was all it needed to break. I would return it, but I accept the fault. I'm chalking this up to a $300 learning experience. Thanks again.

    Great video, worked like a champ. The tricky part is getting all the wires stuffed back far enough that the case goes on and clicks in place. The nice thing about the design is the solder pads are big enough that you don't have to go through the hole to get a good joint and connection. Just bend the end and touch it. I bought a broken spare drone for par parts that now that I know I can do this, I will fix it and have an operational spare. Thanks!

    • @TheZerocul

      It's not your fault that you flew into the house, this is a drone, it drifts, does not hold the hovering point, can arbitrarily fly wherever he wants, does not have a pause button to instantly stop all movements in a difficult situation, turn off the GPS, and he will at least obey management. On Mavik, you would not crash into a house, especially on Evo Robotics, which hangs for half an hour at one point and can drift no more than half a meter.

    FYI, the replacement arm wire lengths should be the same length as the snipped wires on the old arm being replaced. Wire has weight and keeping the drone balanced in weight as per OEM would seem a good idea to me. This would allow you to forego unsoldering off the circuit board and just joining the new arms wires to the old wires still soldiered to the board. Confirming the weight of the drone both before and after the work to be the same would insure that the drone would be balanced to OEM. Thanks for a great video.

    Super video. All of them are. BUT please get closer to the mic. My volume is maxed out and you are off mic. When you went close up to demonstrate, it was perfect. Thanks!!
    My left rear arm broke too... BUT in such a way that I was able to Crazy Glue it back. Will get a new one, but at least it flies for now. And yes... it could have been a 1300 dollar drone! ;-)
    SUGGESTION: It is easier to get the wires to stick if you "tin" them first. OR you could splice them but then you''d need a band of electrical tape around each splice. Not sure if that weight would make a difference in flight dynamics.

    This is an awesome tutorial. I had to replace the exact same leg on my 720 after I flew it into a tree. 😆 🤣 😂 I was very surprised to find it broken as well. Ordered a new leg from Amazon, watched this video & fixed it myself. Only thing I did different was ,I soldered the wires to the clipped wires instead of at the base of the board.... worked great! Thank you for a great tutorial of getting into the innards of a HS720E. Yesterday I had a bit of an accident with my drone and in the process damaged the mechanism which moves the camera gimbal through 90 degrees. I have been informed by Holystone that I may have disconnected one of the wire connecting the camera to the main board. The camera itself still works, so I’m crossing my fingers that the operation works, if you have any further suggestions please feel free in coming back to me. All advice and help will be gratefully received.

    The 720E and 720 are very different inside. You won't be soldering onto a board, you will be splicing wires together. If you own an E, you will see the difference when you open the drone up. Splicing is the easiest way and practically the only way to connect the wires on the E.

    Like most on this thread, I greatly benefited from this vid and could practically 'smell' a successful repair. After attaching the arm and before soldering, I checked to determine if the arm would extend and retract properly. Dang it...nope it won't! It will move to both positions, but will not 'lock' in either! Anyone have a clue what the problem might be and how to fix? FYI, I got the new replacement, right rear arm from Amazon. Thanks in advance, Mike P

    • @mikepoplin2216
      @mikepoplin2216 3 роки тому +1

      @@OurThrivingLife BIG thanks for speedy response. I was deliberate when I ordered, but I'll have to confirm. I don't recall in the vid there was mention that the arm had to be in a specific position when attaching and inserting the pivot pin; and the plastic retainer seems to fit either way. I'll double check on these 3 possible corrections and update you. Might be a day or two; got a rough case of seasonal allergies!

    • @mikepoplin2216
      @mikepoplin2216 3 роки тому +1

      Confirmed I orderly the correct arm; I successfully reattached it, but only after I held it in the extended or "open" position and inserted the pivot pin; then it operated correctly. Unfortunately, I can't get the drone to connect to the transmitter or "fly". The s. iron I had was only 35 watts and it took forever to reconnect the 7-wires. I may have overheated some of the adjacent circuit board or components and thus killed the whole dang thing! I'll trouble-shoot it a bit more. If it doesn't respond, I'll make a decision to either get a new 720E or a totally different drone. Hope I don't have to do that as I had a total or 3-batteries, and was satisfied w/ the HS. Win, lose or draw... BIG thanks for your vid and help!

  • @cabinfourus
    @cabinfourus 2 роки тому

    This repair is not for a beginner. The rear arms contain two longer black wires that have antennas attached to them. These wires are soldered to the board located under the brown looking glue at the back of the board. These are coaxial wires that have a ground and a positive connection on the board. Trying to splice these wires will only end in failure. You must strip them back far enough to re-solder them to the board in the exact location.

    Nice effort BUT you can see jack when it comes to the soldering. Anyone with no experience with electronics will be clueless as to the fix. Good luck!

      You could replace the arm, which includes the motor.

    Well, its a good video but my drone just decided to go off on its own and smash its arm. They sent me a replacement and it turns out I need to know how to solder now and own a soldering iron and, indeed, even find a screwdriver that's capable of not threading these screws. Suffice to say the "screwdriver that came with the drone" doesn't apply to me as none came! I just can't execute this and I'm surprised the company is actually directing me to this video to repair it. Pity. In the time that's passed I could have returned it and had it back by now.

    How did you solder the back long black wire? Mine has like a yellow glue on it and there is no where to solder to.

    • @OurThrivingLife
      @OurThrivingLife  3 роки тому

      That sounds like the antenna. If so, it sticks out of one of the arms. It is just glued.

    • @michaelkidd7821
      @michaelkidd7821 3 роки тому +1

      No it's the long black wire that goes in the back. Both rears have one. But mine have a yellow white covering on it. Like glue or some sort of shield covering the sauter. My long black wire was connected here and I just cut it at the glue. don't know how to solder the new one on though.

      @@michaelkidd7821 I have the same situation. The long black wire solder connection is covered by glue (insulation?). In addition, my daughter who has some experience with electronics says that that black wire is actually coaxial but in the video there is no accounting for soldering the inner and outer conductors. i.e. the black wire requires 2 solder point. That is a bit more complicated than shown in your video. I am picking off the glue to get a better look at it

    Instead of soldering, couldn't you just clip the wires on both sides, strip a healthy bit, wrap them around one another, and tape them with electrical tape instead of going in so deep and risk damaging everything by soldering?

    • @OurThrivingLife
      @OurThrivingLife  3 роки тому +1

      That’s worth a try, but things are pretty tight in there. It might be tough to fit all the spliced wires.
