Two Days on Fitzroy Island

During a recent visit to Far North Queensland, Australia, we spent two nights on Fitzroy Island, a resort island located a 40 minute ferry ride from Cairns. Fitzroy is a coastal island, really a mountain top, separated by a submerged valley from the mainland.
Fitzroy Island is a lower end resort but readily accessible to Cairns and ideal for a short island break.It offers good accommodation at a reasonable price and quality food and drink at prices that are not quite as reasonable.
The island offers beaches for swimming and snorkeling and diving. Walks along beaches and on formed tracks into the extensive rainforest are readily accessible.
