That kind of sounds like a scam and I'd report it to GoFundMe or whoever. I think backing a crowd funding request is kind of acting like a mini VC so I don't think I would ever do that unless they shared profits or there were some major perks. Otherwise yeah it's basically buying a presale for something that may never get made.
People still send KS and others a ton of money, we are at a point most people know we are getting scammed but people still back these very expensive games. Ironically many of these big KS games end up at the used game swap for $40
Puerto Rico new KS version is a reprint of a recent reprint, and its already cleared 1,000,000. It is very obvious that for reasons I can't understand, people in this hobby no matter all the scams and horror stories about KS continue to follow the "shut up and take my money" meme. So many of the organic board game channels I follow have either stopped making content or have huge drops in views, like down to 300-400, and yet bought off and paid for infommerical ks hype videos get thousands of views...it does not make sense.
Yes, I'd definitely say you're being too harsh. I don't know how you can ask such a general question because you're upset with a couple companies/games. How many games have you played/backed/etc that would not exist without crowdfunding and where things were just fine with the campaign and you got your game without any issues? My guess is there is a lot.
That's why I asked. Most Kickstarters have always had delays. Only 2 ever went smoothly. While some needs the funds to create a game, I feel the bigger publishers do not need it and would've produced it anyway. Again, just threw it up for discussion. By no means am I implying I'm "right" on the subject, just the way I've been feeling over the years to crowdfunding. Thanks for your comment!
@@kidcardcoNearly all kickstarters are delayed. It's par for the course. It's frustrating, but it's also something anyone who backs games should be well aware of by now and take into account before they decide to back.
Look at some of the comments in the worst KS scams and people still defend getting scammed and still defend being basically robbed
I agree plus you should be the first to receive especially before retail. I backed return to dark tower never got it , never again
You and I could talk about this subject for quite a while. Lots of layers!
Agreed

Exactly. Which is why I'm content these days to hold off and wait for that moment to arrive
