The green colour of the yolk is due to the green feed provided to them and this has been scientifically proven by the scientists in Kerala. This was in news long ago, about a year or so. As when the hen were given standard pellets diet that are in markets the hen started laying eggs with yellow yolk. This proves that the the green colour is due to the particular plant that was feed to them.

In Japan you can find Red, green, orange, yellow yolk eggs in the market and each of them are priced according to their colour. Darker the colour of the yolk is, more expensive the egg will be. The most expensive one is dark red, to achieve that colour, hens are fed exotic fruits and nuts.
