Great review! Tagima is a brazilian brand and I'm pretty familiar with their instruments. Quality control used to be a big issue for them, but they seem to be improving in the last +5 years or so. So it's still a little hit or miss with their basses. I'd probably still go with a Sire or a Classic Vibe Squier for the price range (or a pay a little more for a Player Series), but I've definitively noticed a significant improvement.
Love your playing and style, not to mention the humour and sheer craftsmanship of these vids. If that wasn't enough, they are also packed with useful and inspiring stuff. Would love to see you do a vid on the Aria SB1000 if you ever have one conveniently come to hand.
Just got one of these off reverb. I wanted a flat wound bass and this is it! After a good set up it’s really amazing how well it plays. Nice to see affordable quality instruments a person can modify and hot rod if you want.
I own one of these tw 66s.. I bought it when they 1st came out for $199 new on reverb just as a beater bass. And to my surprise I was rather shocked when it came in. what a great bass.. I put aftermarket tuners, bridge and a 50s style ashtray cover on the bridge and I'll never get rid of this one.. The pickup sounds great plays fantastic and the quality is top notch for the price I also own an original 1958 p bass and a 1963 American reissue p bass and I like it just as much. And carefull with it. Even though my intentions were to have it for a beater I diddnt have to worry about.
Love your style, No time wasted with great detailed information. I think your channel will do well especially if you get some companies sending you basses. Great job.
Great Review... I have found a cheaper, better and more effective way to improve the tonal range options and sound quality of any budget bass... Instead of upgrading the pickup, replace the stock 250k pots with quality full size 500k pots. And replace the stock .047uf cap with a .022uf Orange Drop cap. Only a $40 upgrade. The pickup is rarely the problem. However... This one sounds great as is. This week, I'm buying one of these with no electronics for $150. I'd like to hear it with EB Cobalt Flatwounds. CHEERS!
For us brazilians it’s the major company, with very good basses and affordable. The founder (SeiziTagima) until the 90’s handcraft all the instruments. Boy now he opened his new brand Seizi. Like brazilian Leo Fender. Me first bass was a B5 from Tagima.
Your videos always bring a smile and lift my spirit - thank you. Good info! Never heard of this brand before, but now (if I stumble onto one) I won't be a-skeered. 😬
Man I thought they were a Japanes brand this whole time! Looked it up and whaddaya know the name does indeed come from Seizi Tajima who sold the rights to the name in 96 to Marutec Music, who still produce them to this day! Fun lil bit of trivia! Great video as always. Waiting on the explorer bass now!
I know it's not this particular bass, but I hope you can answer dude... If you have to choose between the tagima tw65 p bass and the ibanez tmb 100 which one would it be? Which one do you consider is a best instrument?
A bass players life choice bass isn't something for me to recommend. That's something only you can know by how the instrument responds to you in your hands and delivers the tones that you seek.....what I can tell you about this particular bass is that it is very impressive for its selling price as compared to many others in this price range but it isn't for me to say if it is somebody's life bass
Great vid brother. Looks like a really good deal. I have been eyeing the sire d5 for a while but that tagima is gonna give me second thoughts. I know it has a split coil instead of the 50,s single but I'm a p bass guy so I dig the sound and it would probably be a little less hum than with a single.(Great playing by the way 🤘)
Yeah, I like it....dont get me wrong, its no holy grail of P Basses lol but, given the price, I definitely think its one of the better ones in that range

Great to hear. I have nothing but high praises for this bass. I really think people should give Tajima instruments a look-see

Thank you for the kind words! I enjoy doing these vids but the editing sometimes takes forever

Strong Bass Face and Head-bobs. I am liking the finish on the fretboard.
Great video! I dig that bass!
Thanks Bob.....I'm going to swap the pickup and put flats on it ( got the idea for flats from your recent P bass video)

Tagima é do Brasil
These 51 style P-basses with the split coil just instantly makes me think of Mike Dirnt's basses, which makes me instantly like them.
Yep, me too.

It looks great except for the output jack on the control plate D: It would have been nice having it on the side of the body.
Muito bom, brother ! Um salve do Brasil 🇧🇷
Say hello to Brazil!
Its like ZZTop Fender Bass but Japan ! Respect From Ukraine to You!
Thank you for coming by my channel
Tagima is a Brazilian brand.
Hello! Do you recommend this bass to be my only bass in life? I only want it to play at my house by myself and to play in the church band.

You are very funny ! Thank you for the review
In your opinion which pickup would you upgrade in the near future as you mentioned ?
Not sure.......was thinking an EMG Gzr
Love this bass. I have the same one. I played it in a cover video of the theme song to "The Office" on my channel. Great bang for the buck
What do you think about the neck shape of the Tagima TW66?
Is it more likely to C shape or is it wider ? thank you
C shaped. Very comfortable.....probably a nut width of 42mm or so

Hmm….I never heard of Tagima either. Looks like a solid bass. Decent sound too. But you could string up a 2X4 and make it sound killer!
thats a nice bass !!
