    These pickups sound fantastic!

I have the SNS bridge pickup in my 2013 LP Traditional. Absolutely love this pickup! Like you, I have a few LP's and I like to have different pickups for different flavors (have one with JB, one with Suhr Aldrich, one with the original '57 Classics).

It’s definitely a great twist on the classic PAF sound!

Thumbs up! Thanks for the video! Your recording and depiction of the tones was great! I'm obviously pickup shopping for my LP. I've got a '96 Les Paul studio that has the 490R stock pickup in the neck and a pickup that says (#2 AL V PAF) in the bridge. I've recently acquired a PRS S2 Standard 22 and have fallen in love again with guitar/music because of this beauty! I don't want to modify the PRS pickups. I LOVE the tones I'm getting from it. My question is compared to the Les Paul. The Paul neck pickup is very flubby/muddy/MEH in comparison. The bridge is ok, but still kinda "meh". It's almost as if the life has been taken outta the Les Paul pickups in comparison to the PRS 58/15-S pups. I've always loved p90's so I'm thinking/leaning towards those but maybe a JB-59 in the bridge and a Phat Cat p90 in the neck. I don't have the funds to try a bunch of pickups and am looking for advice/guideance a little bit here. I've messed around with pickup heights and pole adjustments but haven't had much success. I've also considered getting the same PRS pickups and putting them in the LP, but I already have the sound I'm looking for in the S2. I'm looking to "freshen up" the LP so I can still rock. Classic rock cover band. I like character with the tone, not too hairy unless provoked, then I want it to scream. Thanks again!

Thanks ! Another thing you might want to check out is the volume and tone controls. They can make a big difference as far as getting more clarity out of the pick ups. I find often, they can make the pick ups sound overly doll as if they have a blanket on them. Just a suggestion.

Pickups sounded great, but I think that's because of the player ;-) great vid! keep em coming!!

I just bought the cheapest guitar with Les Paul on the headstock ,an Epihone Special II with the aim of turning it into a tidy little guitar with some modification. I got some Kluson tuners on StewMac that are a straight swap for the stock ones and looking for some hottish pick ups that in time I can add and these sound just right thanks .

Ps ppl might laugh at my choice of Les Paul but it weighs 6lb 6oz which for me is a fantastic weight as not a fan of boat anchors lol

Glad they worked ! It’s amazing how nice some of the Ephifone’s are these days !

I tried a set and liked them. But for an Alnico 4 magnet based pup, I came across Bare Knuckle Mules and ended up putting them in 2 of my guitars. They do have a different vibe than the Duncan set for sure, but I think they slay the Duncan's in every way. Especially at louder band levels.

I have owned these for a few years. Love the neck but have love hate relationship with bridge. Has a nasty midrange that I just can't figure out. In a 2002 58 Reissue that I had stainless frets put on and plekked. May just be the guitar . If you hear it by itself you think "sounds good" Play it next to any of my other Pauls and it just lacks the roundness and fullness ....through the same amp Modded Splawn Superlead and same settings. It just has a weird unpleasant tone. I had a beautiful chambered Les Paul Elegant, and that guitar I tried everything to make it NOT sound like a PRS, pickups, pots, caps blah blah. Only plus about that guitar was I traded it and got $1000 more then what I paid for

I get what you are saying. I find that rolling off the volume gets rid of most of that. And having it all the way up is quite useful in some situations.

Also .. forgot about the Elegant model until I saw one in a store last week . Yes, those seem to be fetching quite a bit these days :-)

@@genxguitar3599 I got the Elegant at a ridiculous price, 5A top but kind of a Bozo Burst color wise. Yeah they go for some money.

Nice review but boy do I hate the ODR1. Lose a lot of top end detail in my opinion and everything just sounds like the pedal to me

    • @genxguitar3599
      @genxguitar3599  Рік тому +2

Interesting . I do find that I have to ride the spectrum knob pretty high to get the top end to sit correctly. I love that pedal because it really feels like a natural extension of your amplifier. The good news is there are so many drive pedals out there. At this point, you could spend your life sorting all of them out!

Dude, seriously. The ODR1 is the best drive pedal ever.
You should play the video again and listen this time.

Never trust a mic’s up Amp that probably gets some modification on the other end to make it sound like this.

Uh .. you could say that about anything: Amp, wood , strings on and on ..
