I've seen many people found Battle League as their least favorite Mario Strikers. Not helping that Boom-booms perform the worst as goalkeepers. They prefer the kritters
From the look of things, the biggest thing that got neutered is that aggression from previous games.
Like, everyone in Charged just looked like they were SEETHING in anger.

I do believe in a patch, they buffed Boom Boom's Goalie capabilities. Animations are good, but not enough to keep this game alive for more than a week...in hours.
@@Da_ComputerMonster I can deal with the nerfed "aggression". The first mario strikers on gamecube also wasnt as "edgy/aggressive" as strikers charged on wii but this game has a lot more other issues. For starters the obvious one is lack of content, less items than even the first game, lack of characters, stadiums have no gimmicks and even then all fields are grass and all look samey. The fields are also too small. Theres no variety at all. But even gameplay wise AI teammates suck and as OP mentioned boom boom sucks as a golie and is way too inconsistent. Sometimes he fails to block weak garbage shots from mid field(actually quite often) and other times he blocks super powerful shots from good position making it almost feel rng. The way hyperstrikes work is also unfair because sometimes one team just consistently keeps geting hyperstrikes while other team doesnt and its a lot harder to prevent hyperstrikes because of the slow mo BS and if opponent with hyperstrike has items theres nothing you can do to stop it and its 2 easy goals. Also the fact that you cant play 4v4 online (well you kind of can but its so complicated it never happens) which would fix the issue with shitty AI teammates but no not possible to have 3 teammates online from 3 different switches.
The core gameplay mechanics are actually good(minus the way hyperstrike works), I like the perfect moves and the fact that you can team tackle teammates. But its the other issues I just mentionned above that ruin the game.
And they got rid of Waluigi's dick chop. THEY TOOK THE BEST TAUNT FROM US!
I wouldn't say worst, just underutilized. From my online experience I never had co op, I was always the only one on my team every match, so it was always just using the other members' characters
The worst doesnt mean its terrible, it just means that its the weakest entry when compared to the others
@@alejoperdo174 doesn't have as much character as charged or even the original, just more characters. (maybe because those were either older so it had more of a reason to stand out, the idea was fresher, or because it was from a different era)

I hate this Mario strikers game mainly because the goaltending sucks
honestly, i appreciate any game that lets me play as bowser instead of having him just as an obstacle (looking at you older mario party games.)

There were a billion “all battle league animations” videos when the game came out but something I noticed was never mentioned was the animations for combo moves. Theres like 9 ways a character takes a shot depending on what side they receive the ball from

This game was so disappointing. A prime example of Nintendo’s terrible design philosophy of the Switch Mario Sports games when it comes to content.

Find that hard to believe when this isn’t the only time a Nintendo game has released like this on the Switch. Some of which were released before 2020.
Unlikely, pretty much every Switch sports game released like this. Barely any content, missing features from the previous entries, overpriced, underwhelming ‘dev cycle’ to extend game life without substantially adding to the game in any way. This is just how Nintendo does sports games now, very small titles with a likely pretty small budget to give you a couple daysof a pretty fun game before you get bored and want to do something else

It was first announced on a Nintendo Direct like 4 or 5 months ago; heck just last month there has been a bunch of preview footage and an Overview Trailer for Jamboree! Either you have been living under a rock or have been very occupied with other things going on in your life.
@@amarillodragon2702 yeah, it's weird honestly, I watch/listen to UA-cam pretty regularly during work and I never got any ads for Joker 2 (Which I only learned was a thing about A week ago) I only saw 1 ad for Deadpool and wolverine, but that's about it! I never saw any promotion for Nintendo direct besides hearing about the Zelda game.

It’s just not a complete package, the development of this game was a war between next level who wanted to make the game good and nintendo who wanted them to make the game fast
Battle League is 3rd place in it's franchise at the moment, no matter how good it is. that might not seem too bad, until you remember this is a trilogy.

@@jaredtheastralartist2510 This is something I fully agree with. I honestly think people are adding some revisionist history to Tennis Aces. Granted it doesn't help when Super Rush and this game flopped hard, but Tennis Aces has a lot to do.
Damn, I kinda forgot just how bad Battle League's gameplay is compared to it's older brothers.
To the casual viewer, this might not seem all that different if you were to put them side by side, but it absolutely is the stinker of the series, especially since you can never keep track of the ball, even though there's a white UI circle on the ground to show where it is and who has it.
Charged did it best by having the ball emit light, so you always knew where it was.

This game is an example of studios putting to much effort in visuals and not in gameplay. This isn’t something nintendo does often, but it was gonna happen eventually.

It genuinely makes me so happy to see the Party Crashers play “Mario Strikers: Battle League”, my favorite video game of all time.
This game is lowkey fun with irl friends but not enougj to sustain long sessions sadly
Not only was this game feeling unfinished and disappointing, but they also took away the character’s personalities from the first 2 games. Plus you could tell it wasn’t gonna be all that good when they put a whole shirt on the female characters.
It’s a shame that the game is mid, because it LOOKS fantastic and the animation is amazing.
It plays great, like celeste level depth and finesse great, but if you can’t get that much mileage out of clubs like I did it won’t satisfy much

Speaking of Mario sports games, Mario golf for the switch is pretty underrated. It’s got online play, 100’s of different courses, a fun story mode, a good online ranking system, lots of fun characters and WAAAAAAAAAAARIO.
