    I kind of love the one couch, two chairs look for the living room! There's already so much symmetry and I feel like some asymmetry really balances it out. It also makes a ton sense to have armchairs like it is now since it doesn't block access to that door.

      Exactly what I was thinking! 😉

    • @raisachoudhury4071
      @raisachoudhury4071 Рік тому +22

      My exact thought! It's already a smallish space and if she brings in another similar sized couch it would block the entry way. By having two small chars with similar looks to the temporary ones, it'll make the space look more open!

      Agreed!
      It also makes the door to the porch feel more accessible, I think, which makes it feel more flowy. Absolutely love the look with the two chairs on that side!

    I wish once in a while you'd make an hour-ish video. 30mins-ish feels so quick to go by when it comes from you. Well done on everything, MaCenna.
    Edited: Now that I've watched the video, it did feel a big rush to put so many things in such a short duration. I know you have a strict timeline in what you do and are a perfectionist (as I am myself). I love that about you. Your work ethic is epic! Please try to slow down and enjoy the process more. Nevertheless, the results are unquestionably amazing and will always be, every single time. We're all proud of you. You will never ever bore your audiences with your personality, skills, brilliant ideas and so on. It's the details that matter, right? Please don't take this the wrong way, and thank you so much for sharing with us. You're a complete joy to our days and nights.

    • @MsEgwene
      @MsEgwene Рік тому +25

      Oh yes. I don't want to put any additional pressure on you MaCenna, do whatever works for you! But I would definitely enjoy it if the videos were longer (and that does not mean more DIY needs to happen! I imagine there's a lot of content you edit out or that would be relatively easy to film, that many of us would actually enjoy, like a timelapse of that second set of shelves would've been a great addition!)
      But I think audiences can come across as demanding, and I just want to say I'm super thankful for all the content we get exactly as it is!

    What is really amazing to me, is that when I was MaCenna’s age, I was so humble when renovators came to my home. They had amazing skills that really impressed me. And they did work in ways that were a mystery to me. And it was always men. And here is MaCenna, a self taught young woman knocking it out of the park every time…..

    I love your style and I love your energy...also your mom , dog , and boyfriend are great! I am a furniture painter/refinisher and although the method you used to age the fireplace worked great, I think I have an easier way. Rub clear wax over the areas you want to age,( keeps the dark wax from staining the surface) followed by dark or black wax (apply liberally) then wipe off with a cloth. Any flat areas that you want to not look aged use a cloth with clear wax, this acts like an eraser. This method is fast and effective and probably less tedious than the stain pen. Excited for the living room finale. Thanks for the great content!

    Hi, I don’t know if you’re going to feel it’s too late for this but actually what’s perfect in my opinion for your mantle and the look you’re going for is to wax the whole thing with clear wax and then do some black wax on the areas you want to have that little darker, aged look. Now this is for people who like redo furniture, and to give it that vintage look. You put the clear wax which also seals and protects the wood, then you use the dark wax the black on there and brush it on a little bit. Then you wipe it off and by doing the clear wax underneath it makes it easy to remove any amount of the black you don’t want there are a lot of furniture artists/ furniture flipping channels that can help you with this, but like the best, but one of the very best is Kacha. I hope you check this out because seriously it’s easier than what you’re trying to do with the pan and it’s exactly going to get you the look you’re looking for I believe honestly. I really hope this helps. Good luck. 🌹

    • @jmk1962
      @jmk1962 Рік тому +3

      I was going to suggest applying a wax to it too to give it an aged look. So much easier than using a pen.

    Yay! I love the look of the shelves being built in! Just gorgeous. What a moment that the beautiful mantle you found so long ago is now fixed in place - congratulations! It's all truly stunning! And congrats on conquering that tricky crown mould cornering - it was your achilles heel for the entire house reno. Usually I adore the symmetry of two sofas facing each other, but I think this particular sofa is more of a lounger, and it wouldn't make sense to have people lounging at each other instead of sitting upright and conversing. And it seems quite wide as well, it may take up too much real estate 💛🌙🌟✨

    I hope you are proud of the awesome skills you have gained over the past few years. I vote for an identical sofa, just because I like that look.

    Yaaay so exciting!!! It's looking so beautiful!!! I think that a couch and two chairs will be very nice and create a nice flow towards the doors to the left of the fireplace.

    i LOVE the couch on the side kind of lopsided/purposefully asymmetrical look of couch and two chairs.

    Ohhhh my goodness.....I LOVE what you have done! One of my favorite videos yet!!! WoW! I love more of the built in bookshelves plus that lime wash made it gorgeous. SO with the style of the older house. So rich looking! SOooo much character. And the little detail of the stain pen. Just perfect! You go girl! 😍❤️ Can't wait for each diy video!!!
