Being a very lazy natural has been helping my hair and doesn’t take a lot of work. Dealing with natural hair doesn’t have to be as hard as some people say.
Exactly!! When I stopped doing the most over the summer, my hair flourished. I just shampoo whenever, use old school hair grease, and twist it up for a few weeks. Repeat.
Yes, "lazy" natural is the best natural, you can even see the difference on youtube. The youtubers who are always doing excessively styling on their natural hair have a hard time retaining length and have stayed the same length for years. The ones who simply wash consistently and keep the hair moisturized but don't over manipulate are the ones who retain the most length.
I came across this video of a natural reacting to another natural yrs ago and giving the other natural the "right" hair tips. The woman was criticizing her for not washing enough, not buying expensive products, and not doing too much of xyz etc. The woman who was critiqued is going on tailbone and beyond with barely any views. And the woman who judged her, her views are strong, but she is forever talking about trying to reach her hair length goal with kitchen concoctions and buying more products and still has about shoulder length hair. And her channel is about 10 years old. I don't want to bully anyone out but took this an anecdotal in my own hair journey. And I'm shocked low manipulation actually grew my hair along with hydration and the wrongly cancelled butters and oils. "Lazy" naturals do have healthy hair
See I’m a lazy natural, but I deep condition every wash day to avoid regular conditioning bc it takes up too much time and I do notice that less manipulation results in length retention 👌🏾✨
I'm a protective style/Lazy natural. With it being cold outside I make sure my hair is twisted with a satin scarf. I wear my afro about two to 3 days before my wash day to let my hair breath a little bit.
Lazy natural or not, I feel like the best tip along with not over manipulating your hair is that finding what works for your hair, product wise and regimen wise is the best thing. Trial and error have been so great for me and while I’m not necessarily a lazy natural, I definitely think I’ve relaxed a little on trying to do a million different things and hoping my hair will grow. It’s grown so much more once I relaxed a little, found good products, and kept it simple.
Same I've tried doing a twist out but end up doing afro puffs now I do a wash n go i can't be bothered to do anything else by the end of wash day I'm too tired 😩🤣
lazy natural for the win. if I dont bother her (my hair), she does not bother me. I wash my hair once a month. every two weeks she get sprayed with water, a little leave-in, and immediately put back into two milkmaid plaits or a bun. detangling only occurs on wash day. We're thriving over here lol
That sounds like me. I just fell into a similar routine and it really works for me. I wash and deep condition monthly and use water and leave in when it gets dry. Every few days I mist a restorative spray or warm water and coat it with jojoba oil.
I dont consider myself lazy since I give my hair what it needs when it needs it...but I dont style my hair. Half of the time I just leave it in its shrunken afro form 🤷🏾♀️. I really like it best that way.
This is why I decided to be a lazy natural for 2021 and beyond. I am definitely a clean natural and I never liked the excessive products, it gives me anxiety.
Your hair is a lot longer!! I'm a lazy natural too. The best way to have long hair is to leave it alone. Btw, your profile pic is giving me Pam Grier 70s vibes. Too pretty.
Do you boo. What's best is the routine you want to do. In hair care, exercise, nutrition. Consistency of what you like is ultimately the most important.
Please give your pet a big hug and kiss from me. Please take your time. Losing a member of your family is tough. So don't do anything until you are ready.
Im a cross between OG natural , diligent natural and lazy natural. I always been natural and been speaking on being natural before it was a thing. I don’t like doing much to my hair as long as it is moisturized
I'm a very lazy natural. For a matter of fact, I'm a lazy person 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ I have a lazy girl excerise routine, lazy girl meal plan, lazy girl morning routine...I'm lazy all round except for my work lol
@@soraya.e5482 How so? All my routines are simply, easy, and it keeps me healthy and sane being a very busy person. Simplicity is the key to simply life.
I'm finding that "lazy" is best. Less is more...when it comes to our hair we need to care for it but not overdo it. It is too stressful and stress is NOT good for hair or body. I was the product junkie and it ain't worth it...
I am totally the lazy natural! I wash my hair once a week or two weeks, and that's pretty much it. I'm am ALL wash n go. I'll give my hair a spritz with water, throw some oil in it and I'm done for the day. People always ask what I do to my hair and I'm like...literally nothing, I pretty much leave it alone and wash it occasionally 🤷🏽♀️
To be honest I’m lazy with my hair n I used to only wear puff which is bad lol 😂 the only time I detangle is when it’s going to be wash which is also bad thats y I’m planing to trim a little each time I do it to get rid of spit end by next year it will grow past that length I call my self the extreme lazy natural.
Luv your hair. I'm definitely a lazy natural when it comes to styling only. My go to styling is a Wash-n-go and then I don't touch it again until the next week for wash day outside a refresh mid-week with a leave-n. My wash days are very thorough and serious. So I'm that girl who does not want to be disturbed on wash days. lol
I saw this post lol I am definitely a combination of the innovative natural (though I don’t try all the fades, I am aware) and the clean natural. I am a bit of stickler with ingredients lol P.S. love the nails 💖
I guess I’m the ultimate “lazy” natural... I recently microbraid loc’d my hair 😂 No detangling, no unnatural chemical products, less maintenance, shake and go hairstyle and no “bad hair” days 🤷🏾♀️
Im starting to become a lazy natural. My problem is. I am growing out my color and letting it go completely grey. The problem is. The color growing out is leaving me with split ends, which leads to dreaded single strain knots. So I am constantly clipping my ends to stop breakage. So frustrating, but I refuse to do a big chop because I make a ugly boy. LOL
Elisheba Mitchell, I am also growing out my color so I can go grey. I too trim the colored ends frequently. I big chopped March 2019 from relaxers and my hair is now 10 inches in length and growing. I am not going back to a TWA again.
If that’s your current photo on your thumbnail then cut all the color off because you are a pretty lady. You’d be surprised how much you love very short hair.
I am definitely a lazy natural! I guess I fall into the "clean natural" category, since the products I use (black woman-owned TM Products) are natural and organic. I'm 4 yrs. natural (transitioned my hair for about 16 mos. prior to my big chop), so I have my routine down to a science: section hair for detangling with spray bottle of water and detangling creme, wash hair (still in sections), condition while I finish showering, add the Perfect Assist styling aid (also used as a leave-in deep conditioner; I love a combo product), and put it all up in a high bun (hardest part of the routine, my hair is thick and a handful of inches away from being waist-length straightened). All told, it takes me just under 1 1/2 hrs.; it used to take me 4 hours with far less hair, lol! I don't waste hours deep conditioning when 10-15 mins. will net me the same result, and instead of sitting under a dryer to deep condition as well as dry, I just wear a shower cap for 20 mins. and air dry afterwards (though that still takes a full 24 hrs. to fully dry in a bun). I straighten my hair 1-2 times a year, and color it around every 6-8 weeks (these grays are really outchea, lol); other than that, I leave it the heck alone! ♡
This is random. But do you actually feel like you did a big chop? I transitioned for 14 months and just trimmed the ends along the way. I feel like I never big chopped and woke up with short natural hair. My hair was about 6 inches long by that point.
Being a lazy natural is not the best lots of people are lazy with their hair routine and have matting/ tangles. You end up having growth just to cut it off from breaking because of lack of care. I think there should be a balance.
Other than wash, condition and protect the strands I guess I'm in that category. The less time to deal with my hair the better. The max time I will do non manipulative style is a month all others maybe once a week.
What exactly is a lazy natural? In my honest opinion there is nothing wrong with switching it up and having a different hair style now and again is fine, but once an individual truly has mastered a routine than its just so easy to become lazy afterwards🤣 as long as it's moisturized i just let it go most of the time.
A lazy natural in my opinion, is someone who isn’t constantly manipulating their hair. Which can increase breakage, etc. Either way, a balance in whatever you do is best.
I'm cross between product junkie and og. Since my hair is rather long 4c (mid back length) Im kind of addicted to doing my hair. But its making my scalp irritated. I need to learn how to leave my hair alone for a while.
Who the hell makes up these categories? What is this thing about putting people into boxes? We are all in agreement that hair typing maybe useful in the early days but that it has led to problems and divisions especially as alot of people fall between the categories.
I have always lived by this with my natural hair simple and less is better . I dont see the point in having 5011 products you do not need all of that and a six hour hair wash to take care of your natural hair .. That is to much
