Elche es una ciudad y un municipio de España situado en la provincia de Alicante, en la Comunidad Valenciana. Capital del Bajo Vinalopó, el municipio cuenta con 232 517 habitantes (INE, 2019), siendo la población de su casco urbano de 190 696 habitantes (INE, 2019). Es, de esta forma, la segunda ciudad más poblada de la provincia de Alicante y la tercera de la Comunidad Valenciana, la decimonovena de España y la cuarta mayor ciudad del país sin rango de capital de provincia, desde el punto de vista de la población compacta, por detrás de Vigo, Gijón y Hospitalet de Llobregat. El área metropolitana de Alicante-Elche, que la agrupa con la conurbación de Alicante-San Vicente del Raspeig-San Juan de Alicante y con las localidades próximas de Santa Pola y Crevillente, es la novena más poblada de España, con unos 700 000 habitantes.

Elche is a town and municipality of Spain, belonging to the province of Alicante, in the Valencian Community. According to 2014 data, Elche has a population of 228,647 inhabitants, making it the third most populated municipality in the region (after Valencia and Alicante) and the 20th largest Spanish municipality. It is part of the comarca of Baix Vinalopó.
Part of the municipality is coastal yet the city proper is roughly 11 km (6.8 mi) away from the Mediterranean Sea. A small creek called Vinalopó flows through the city.
Elche is so close to the city of Alicante that both cities form a de facto conurbation of some 800,000 inhabitants.

We viewed our first casa near Elche in San Isidro (?) , it is a beautiful area. The sale fell through. We have been looking for a property in the Elche area for years now . Im not sure if it’s a true story but I heard that every time a baby is born in Elche, they plant another palm tree! What a beautiful thing…

But this city is landlocked! Its about 15-20 min by the car until coast.
Te has dejado lo mejor el centro histórico. No se que entiendes por "Downtown" lo que sale podría ser Badalona fácilmente.

El pacto de marrakech firmado por el cerdo de nuestro presidente para llenar de ilegales España, en el pais con mas paro de Europa y la policía, guardia civil, el rey y ejército solo estan para cobrar y pagar vigilar que llevemos la mascarilla y no salgamos de nuestro pueblo. Cada vez me da mas asco mi pais y sus políticos y no estoy en contra de la inmigración pero ordenada y legal
aquí hay buena inmigración, pero siempre se cuelan desgraciados...la ciudad no supo crecer aunque los nuevos barrios tienen mejor desarrollo o eso parece...

NO me equivoco si digo que es posiblemente la ciudad más fea y decadente de las que he visitado en España. Gente desagradable , calles tristes, suciedad , Calor insoportable y sobre todo; desempleo , miseria y fealdad por todos sitios. Arquitectura setentosa y horrenda hace el resto. No mientan: ELCHE ES HORRENDA
