This song feels like both hopelessness and relief. Like you've been fighting a war you knew you would never win and it's almost over. You won't win in the end, but let's see how long you can keep going. That when it's over, no matter what happens next, you finally get to breath again.
I know most people see it as a fandom song but I see it as the journey one goes through when they are suicidal and by the end of the song they have something to live for
Thank you! Everyone keeps saying “my fandom brought me here” but it drives me crazy because this is really about a suicidal man who by the end of the day, realizes he really does have something to live for.
This comment really struck a chord with me- When I found this song through a fandom, I was in such a terrible mental space. I've only just now come across it again in a much better mental space than before, and seeing this song with your perspective makes it that much more meaningful to me now. Thank you so much
fightmefairy it can be both. A good story puts the characters through a journey where they question every step, and at some point want to quit. That’s similar to the journey people go through when suicidal. Full disclaimer, I don’t see suicide as “quitting”. At that point in the journey it can seem like the least painful, and in some cases the only, option. It is not taking the easy way out, because if you’re at that point it has not been easy. As for my personal view, this song is about the battle between two sides of something: a positive voice and a negative voice. Everyone has the voices in their heads, real or fictional, which is why this doesn’t have to be one or the other. It’s about every journey. I like to believe in the middle of the song the “we” changes from the person and their mind to the person and society. This represents the change from an internal battle to facing the external battle. There doesn’t have to be a right or wrong answer, let it be whatever it will be. The main fact is that it represents a journey where someone comes out the other end. Whoever that someone is for the listener isn’t for one person to decide. Also, sorry this was long, it was kinda just a thought dump. If you’ve read all the way through thank you!! And I hope I don’t come off rude.
You are 100% correct. Ive had nothing but tragedy in my life since I was 14 years old (best friend got shot dead by his abusive father, one brother dying in Afghanistan, another being driven mad, my mom fighting cancer 3 times and succumbing to it on the third time [passed a month and half ago]). Im now 28 and after 4 attempts at suicide Ive realized its not worth dying for those who have shaped and molded me along the way will always be with me as long as I keep going and never giving up. This song is a prime example of how to look back on your life and see how your life has shaped you to become who you are today. All the pain is only temporary in the grand scheme of things. Take the good with the bad and never give up on life my anonymous friends. Never give up hope and find your happiness.
This song is my anthem right now. At 28 years old, just out of a really tough divorce, I've finally decided to follow my dreams and do something that I'm passionate about. I start college this fall in a new state with no support whatsoever. I can't wait to come back to this comment in a few years and see just how far I've come. Follow your dreams, guys. It's always possible if you set your mind heart and soul to it.
I have severe social anxiety and can hardly go to the shop at 16 haha, but I know someone across the world who is waiting for me and I'm damn willing to put everything into the journey. I wish you good luck on college
Siber wolf Yeah. Not a single problem. I figured at least 1 person would mess up. I.E. Fall down, miss their steps, ect. But nope. It all went off perfectly. As a side note though, I'm enjoying college so much more than high school. I was told college was much more difficult, but that's not the case at all. Hell, I don't even have class Thursday/Friday! And even on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I only have class for 4 hours. 8 A.M. - noon. It's an amazing experience.

I actually didn’t come here from a fandom, I came here after hearing it from an animation evolution video Though I see this song as a journey through life, not through some game or anime or anything like that It’s journey through birth to death, from the moment you first opened your eyes to the moment you closed for the last time

After the host of a minecraft server I played on announced that he'd be quitting (he ended up not going through with it, though he later got banned from the discord a few months later for a few arguments he got into), one of my friends on that server was looking for something to capture the vibe, he posted this there. I remember listening to this and reminiscing about the few months the server lasted, and here I stand today, reminiscing about my prior reminiscing.
Hadn't heard this since the heroes of olympus days, it hit me like a train...we're all grown up, keep going, that magic from when we were kids was real and pure, always be a light in the dark
A twig from Boston, an Australian sniper armed with jars of his own urine, an insanely patriotic soldier, a only slightly mad German doctor, a proud Texan, a French spy with class, a masked maniac, a drunkard Scotsman, and a very tired assistant is all it takes to make the perfect team. Happy 13th, TF2. You've earned it.
I'm just sitting here, stoned outta my mind, trying not to think about the literal apocalypse just outside my apartment door, and here this song just creeps into the fibers of my skull to remind of it. Thanks.
Oddly enough, Even if this song talks about the world ending and how you want it to end but at the end it motivates me when he says “let’s see how far we’ve come” to me that means even if everything falls apart you’re going to still run, run, run to see how far you’ll take yourself. It’s helped me so much through therapy and before entering therapy. And it pumps me up to push myself a little more in a healthy manner
This song was played at my 6th grade graduation and everyone was crying out of pear sadness and joy. The song reminds me of how far I've come since I was in elementary and middle school and how emotional my journey has been. Dealing with PTSD, ADD and depression is tough but eventually I toughed up and got through it! Everyone has different experiences and reasons as to why they do thongs.

To me this song is about the moment someone finds out that their childhood is over. The simple world that they once knew is burning down. In its place is a harsher reality. Waking up he feels the same, but new responsibilities have appeared on his shoulders; he's heavier than before. He cries and he runs, but he can't run backward or forward. He's stuck in the present reality.
Anyone else cry to this as a kid watching it unfold as we sit on the edge of total world war... If it all ends, know I loved you lost ones. We will persist.

I feel the best I have ever felt _in my life._ To catch you all up to speed I’m disabled with a plethora of different things. It came to a climax at the end of last year, so bad that all I could do was lay in bed. I could barely even get up to shower. (Hell, showers are still hard now.) But? But I’m feeling _better._ This is amazing. I feel so *good!* I’m kinda in the middle of my journey of healing, but hey. It gets better. And I’m using this song to celebrate - celebrate *_how far I’ve come._*

It wasn't his because you said that his is not a clever comment, and I just responded to you so you couldn't have been talking about mine, and if you were referring to your comment, you used f words than to torrets guy does in one sentence and to refer to your comment as "clever" is borderline stupid. So, whose comment were you referring to?
it's about that, the singer is depressed about the declining state of the world, and he knows it, it's all about to end soon kid, it's all about to end.
you really should watch the video then, just go look for it and simply put supernatural right before the song title :) It should be the very first on the list
10 years... 10 long years this song has stuck with people, 10 years this song has brung people out of bad times and into better days this song lifted me up through the fire of life and into the clouds of hope for a better day... For a better future. (Thank you for your time)
I remember hearing this song when i was 7 years old. Im 18 now finishing up highschool. And this song is what I need for graduation. 13 long years of slaving away for a highschool diploma. Worth it..? Not really, but happy that its over.
this song is my favorite because It makes me feel better about not having many friends. I'm not the social type and I don't typically start conversations, hop on trends, or join "groups of people". This song make me think that it's totally fine. I don't need friends and I can do well on my own :) Time to see how far I go and how good I make of my time!
Oh goodness, I remember hearing this on VH1 when I got ready for middle school. Been a while since I heard it and I'm still loving it as much as I did the first time I heard it!!
I'm here for Percy Jackson... and Viria's art. I was checking the comments and I've just realized that most of us are here because of similar fandoms (supernatural, PJ, homestuck) But afterwards, this is an amazing song
This is gonna be my graduation song! Graduating this year and I almost didn't make it past sophomore year, but after being so low for so long I could only climb up. I did, and now I'm getting the treatment I need for my mental health, I've weeded out the toxic people in my life, I've made many friends who support me, and I'm finally working on becoming someone I can be happy with!
This song reminds me of Arrows to Athens Stars. It just fits so well with typical YA novel plots that is perfect for fandoms. Give me the wholesome drama and a song that is not abt romance for once. 😁
God damn... I have so much nostalgia. My sister and I would play this a bunch, it was one of my favorite and still is to this day. It kinda makes me cry, gotta be honest... I was maybe 4 when I heard this song back in 2010, I'd love to play this song soon. Man, I miss the past sometimes...tears me apart sometimes but it was great back in 2010-2016. I miss it..
When I was little and scared my brother held me tight and played this song to let me know that when the world end he’ll be so proud to see ho far I’ve come❤️
Even though I'm a Steven Universe fan myself (clearly), adding that last bit is literally just super insulting to all the other disasters and people suffering from them. That is of course if you aren't joking though lol
Here we stand in a world that is always on the verge of collapse yet it's always held together in some way when I think about this way it fills me with hope that we can persist I know many people would call me ignorant and foolish but that's just how I feel
This song gives me “it’s only when we face the greatest problems that we can truly show what we’re made of” vibes. Like working together to try and beat back a huge issue using what we’ve learned up to this point type beat.
Listening to this after having read the last issue of Lost Light. Oddly this song is fitting and makes me think of the whole crew. Thank you Robert's, I'll miss these comics and I'll cherish them forever, I'm glad I found them back 2016 and that I read them.
Imagine if the world goes on. Everybody leaves, but you’re still here. It’s not as depressing as it seems. After all, you went farther than everybody else. You got to see and do things they didn’t, and because they didn’t, you have to.
I'm here because of a volleyball camp I went to at BYU. We watched an amazing inspiring video of the women's team with this song in the background and listening it reminds me of that. I'll never forget that experience and how much this song makes me want to try.

I used to listen to this song all the time when I was young.
I loved it. And I still like it a lot.
HAVEN OMG ILY I KNOW YOU!
You do? Who are you?
Haven McGregor ....I'm Canada...
Um. Okay. Where do I know you from?
Or, where do you know ME from?
randomly popped into my head, absolute slap of a song
it did again
Voltron, Percy Jackson, How To Train Your Dragon. This song discribes all of them. Each of them taught me lessons and looking back we have come so far
Still here. I love this song. So. Much. Aug 2nd,2018
I been trying to look for this song for years finally found it❤😊
I'm here because I heard it on the fucking radio in the mid 2000's and I felt like it'd been a while. Why the FUCK do people FUCKING care about where the FUCK I came from to listen to this FUCKING great music?
Did you say the F word? I couldn't really tell
Clever comment is clever.
I wasn't talking about yours.
+The Desert Bandit Then whose where you referring to? It wasn't his because you said that his is not a clever comment, and I just responded to you so you couldn't have been talking about mine, and if you were referring to your comment, you used f words than to torrets guy does in one sentence and to refer to your comment as "clever" is borderline stupid. So, whose comment were you referring to?
Why are you bothering to correct / nitpick a two month old comment? That's not desperately reaching or anything.
I had stuff on my mind I wanted to say about your comment so I said it
I brought myself here.
Undertaker? Niiiice.
Thank ya!
No prob
Good person. dont need someone to hold your hand and push you places.
15 year's later.. still a damn banger!
This song gave me childhood anxiety over the sustainability of our planet.
it's about that, the singer is depressed about the declining state of the world, and he knows it, it's all about to end soon kid, it's all about to end.
I like how everyone is so original discovering these great classics years and/or decades late and tagging it to COVID-19.
Hey Twilight
@@West-rk7dz Well hello to you as well :)
Reading comments reminds me of why I miss Cemeteries..
LAST DAYS OF THE CHURCH.
INEVITABLE.
*_best opening theme for percy jackson series_*
Supernatural anyone? Come oon, that's one of the best videos I've ever found!
No, but I do love supernatural
you really should watch the video then, just go look for it and simply put supernatural right before the song title :)
It should be the very first on the list
me! i saw that video, it was so awesome
I was here.
It took me an hour to find this song. Worth it!
You know what brought me here? My good taste in music.
Some of the best fandoms brought us to this song
Being played in a Staples brought me here.. -_-
congratulations this will forever be on the internet
i pity you
@@bur_n_t lol
Angelwulf I’m jealous of him
Target
this song is my favorite because It makes me feel better about not having many friends. I'm not the social type and I don't typically start conversations, hop on trends, or join "groups of people". This song make me think that it's totally fine. I don't need friends and I can do well on my own :) Time to see how far I go and how good I make of my time!
As the world prepares to burn, this song is more relevant then ever!
These singers were ahead of time. I guess the feeling got real huh? Now it's 2020. The feeling is more real then ever before. 😏
Anthem of 2020 no debate it literally makes sense with what anyone would think the song is about
Oh goodness, I remember hearing this on VH1 when I got ready for middle school.
I just started rereading the series hope I can catch uppppp
this is what im doing with my life until fall of 2020.
So, how are you doing now?
proud of u man!
When every fandom is singing this song in the distance
This songs starting to get a little to real
Waiting for John to say "You get the feeling it's going to be a long day" at the end
+ALPHYS (Ham Solo)
IKR
Me too haha
+ALPHYS (Ham Solo) This song will make me cry this April when they've gone as far as they can go T_T
+Skye D. Hikaru May I ask what you guys are talking about?
+Dalond_The_Destroyer the homestuck version of this song
My friend Nick showed me this song. Thank you Nick, I love it!
I use to listen to this so much when I was a little girl and loved it....I still do!
this screams 2000 vibes. And it's AMAZING.
I miss it..
I heard this on the radio, years ago.
So many years without heard this song. My youth is sor far away now 😢
Thanks, Viria.
When I was little and scared my brother held me tight and played this song to let me know that when the world end he’ll be so proud to see ho far I’ve come❤️
It's August 18th, gotta come back here. This song better be on the show.
Happy birthday seaweed brain💙
I really love this song, I remember my mom playing it in the car when i was younger. Now it's nostalgic yet such a good song.
2020: exists
WW3 almost happened
Australia is burning
CoronaVirus is spreading
Steven Universe is gonna end this friday
Even though I'm a Steven Universe fan myself (clearly), adding that last bit is literally just super insulting to all the other disasters and people suffering from them. That is of course if you aren't joking though lol
Wait when did WW3 almost happen I feel like I would've remembered that
@@jessieg58
Blame Trump for killing Solleimani
I believe the world (Australia) is burning to the ground
Now Killer Hornets are everywhere -_-
This song randomly popped in my head after all these years
Here we stand in a world that is always on the verge of collapse yet it's always held together in some way when I think about this way it fills me with hope that we can persist I know many people would call me ignorant and foolish but that's just how I feel
@Laughingman 13 yep
This song gives me “it’s only when we face the greatest problems that we can truly show what we’re made of” vibes. Like working together to try and beat back a huge issue using what we’ve learned up to this point type beat.
It's been so long since I heard this and I still love this song. I remembered most of the words. Never Give Up
i remember listening to this december 2012.
anyone else?
me
Raven Ackerman hah, and we're still alive
***** i was referencing the 2012 "doomsday" phrophecy. remember that?
Dude, I think that’s almost exactly the month I first heard this song actually!
this song reminds me of how messed up our world is.
This came out in 2007 is the world done yet?
NO Check back in a few decades
welp, its almost been a decade, and the world is corrupted as is. i'm not sure how much more worse the world can get.
I feel ya bruh..
honestly this song is about "y'know, when all is said and done, we did a lot of good"
cough november cough
Listening to this after having read the last issue of Lost Light. Oddly this song is fitting and makes me think of the whole crew.
Thank you Robert's, I'll miss these comics and I'll cherish them forever, I'm glad I found them back 2016 and that I read them.
Imagine if the world goes on. Everybody leaves, but you’re still here.
It’s not as depressing as it seems.
After all, you went farther than everybody else. You got to see and do things they didn’t, and because they didn’t, you have to.
Dude this song in 2020 takes on such a different meaning lol
Yup, I recall this song came out around 10yrs ago..but much more fitting now, as I shall listen to R.E.M. next
Used to listen to this almost every day 4 years ago...yep I miss when I actually felt happy
Praise Jesus. Share the love.
10 years later this song still Awesome
I'm here because of a volleyball camp I went to at BYU. We watched an amazing inspiring video of the women's team with this song in the background and listening it reminds me of that. I'll never forget that experience and how much this song makes me want to try.
Listen to this on popk radio station always blast this 2019 and the world is still burning to the ground lets see how far we come!!!!!!
despite it talking so much about the world ending, there's something strangely uplifting about this song.
I miss my little brother he passed a few months ago. Keep hope in your life and be there for those you love.
This song is so old but still pretty good
