Thank you for this. I was about to rip the entire ABS system out, including the steel lines, and replace it with all non-ABS equipment. The bypass part is a little pricey, but will save a lot of work, and maybe even allow the ABS to be restored if I can ever find a working ABS pump that's not $2500 USD.
The hardest part for me seems to be taking off all the panels and the petrol tank. When you can see what needs to be done, things look and get easier. As for the bike, it is old like me, but on long rides and motorway riding, it's more comfortable than my R1250GSA. And 10% of the cost of my bike.
Does this not cause problems at MOT time? Does the tester not go looking for the ABS diagnostic sequence? If not I need to keep this in mind, I have an old Yamaha GTS1000 which are prone to throwing ABS glitches.
No problem with MOT as older bikes never had ABS , the brakes work fine if not better. My enduro bike is new ish and has no ABS. Comes back to the rider controlling the bike. The problem with that BMW system if it fails you have no brakes. Well 5% and that will not stop you. Hope this helps and stay safe.

dont want to scrap bike but holy f its such a pain in the d with this blinking hell. all it did was hit the brake while moving it will a dead battery. then the dealer said to just break the bleeder and let out some SOME brake fluid. now when turn it on it wants to blink wildly. do i want to convert it? no. i want to RIDE IT. lol. so i rode it around and while it tried to lock up at first, now it rides. does anybody REALLY know what the f is going on with this? does it want another $1000 bucks just to sit on it? really not happy and here it is after the heat season has ended and i want to ride it across the mitten but its playing at this s.

That is the reason we went for it. Brakes are fine.
And all the wires in the box unplug no need to cut a tape up.
What alot of work, you make it sound easy but bet it wasnt . Good job 4 ur mate.cheaper than scrapping the bike and getting new one

If the ABS is playing up don't chance your luck. If the ABS fails your brakes won't work. The brakes on this RT1150 are still amazing.
I couldn't find anyone to fix the ABS unite or guarantee it. So we took it off. If you find the other video I did it shows how and what you need.
