As a 60 year old Australian man of Irish descent, trying to learn the language of my ancestors, I am so pleased to see and hear these young Irish students keeping Gaeilge alive in a way which is relevant to them. Well done !

I love that people are doing this and trying to bring the irish language back! i live in the north of ireland belfast and as i try to sing these songs out proudly in OUR native language a fight will always start but that does not stop me! and coming up to the 11th and 12th of july my i sing these songs louder!!!
Irish is just.... I don't know. There's something about the celebrations and the language. Whenever these things happen I feel like there's something different, but special from other countries.
I think a lot of the joy in these TG Lurgan videos is that of teenagers realising that they can produce music and entertainment themselves, and the joy of belting it out, and the joy of celebrating music and art as part of a huge crowd of people. Normally they just consume this stuff passively, on their own as often as not, and rarely think of themselves as part of a powerful, self-empowering collective! (Heavy I know, but there you have it!)

Seriously this is so refreshing to see young Irish not only celebrating their language, culture, dance and having fun and relating it to modern music too!
I'm basically a polyglot with Irish ancestry- my great great (great?) grandparents on my father's side came over during the potato famine. My paternal grandmother was very proud of her Irish heritage and would tell me, my siblings, and cousins, "You may only be a quarter Irish, but that's the most important part!" With all of this being said, I'm working on learning Irish little by little. These videos help, as do others on UA-cam to assist with learning pronunciation and sentence structure. I am also using Duolingo, which has its own advantages and disadvantages.
I had to put this on my wall on Facebook..this is just fantastic..the energy,the voices,the smiles and laughter...bloody marvelous...This makes so many of us HAPPY!!!

Irish is definitely the hardest language I have tried learning so far. I have studied French and Swedish, and know some bits of German, Italian, and Mandarin, Irish is giving me a run for my money. 🤯
as far as i know i don’t have an ounce of irish in me and i’m american, but i want to learn gaeilge because i think it’s a beautiful language with a rich history that deserves to be preserved. it would be very sad if this language died and i want to do what i can to help.

Im a 13 year old living in Ireland with Italian parents. Everyone speaks English here but at school Irish is a mandatory subject. U get to learn the language and how to Irish dance. And since Halloween is originally Irish its really big hit here in Ireland.

Hi Don these young people are all from Ireland 🇮🇪 their parents send them to summer camp to improve their Irish 🇮🇪 language as primary schools 🏫 only give a half an hour a day to learn this school 🏫 is in a Gaeltachta where everyone speaks Irish the children go there for three weeks this school teaches them through music 🎶 by translating the most popular songs into Irish now some of the words in some of the songs don't have an Irish equivalent so they just substitute an Irish word like the cheerleader song we don't have a word for cheerleader so they used the word fun instead it doesn't take anything away from the original and it would be the same for just about all the songs that may need a slight adjustment hope this helps

I love these languages and I'm so glad to see that there are other people my age who love it too! i was at the 5 day one for 5th and 6th class and my older brother went to lurgan as a student and a teacher he is in one of the videos its called Some nights and the one i went to does a 3 week course but i would go to lurgan it seems like alot more fun. aswell we had a disco and this song came on and Riptied is my fav song right now and im like okay im learning it in irish (i wanted to make some of this comment in irish but not many people would understand)
