You see the time progression in this video with Craigs' mustache 😂
I was gonna say the same thing lol
Not quite up to Tom Selleck standards but an excellent stache nonetheless.
I just hope that in the end, you don't wind up hating this. I've done this on other people's cars because they thought it would be cool and they liked it. Some were all for it until they started driving it. When they saw all the aggravation that goes along with it, they brought it back for it to be done again. Except they wanted the springs put back. Or springs put in it. Some said they hated the ride. Some said they hated how it wound up handling. Some complained it was too stiff. We had several to come back because they somehow ripped a hole in the trans pan and messed up the valve body. I know of at least 8 that came back because the owner somehow busted the oil pan and blew up the engine. I can remember the biggest complaint was getting high centered just about everywhere. Another one tried to raise up the car enough to get across, at an angle, it put so much pressure on it, kinda like a twist, it popped the windshield out. He had to be careful of the driveways he turned into off of many different roads. After popping out the windshield twice turning in his driveway at home, it was brought back to us to put coil springs back under it. I even remember one that the guy was so frustrated with, to him, it was either pour a 5 gallon can of gas on it and burn it down, or switch it back to regular coil springs in the front and leaf spring in the back. Essentially, we put it back to stock form. So, I wish you luck and I hope you like it. It's a lot of work to undo. In some cases, it can't be undone. If you cut the front spring pocket so you can get bags to fit, there is no reversing it. You're stuck with it or you buy another frame and start again. Been there, seen that too. Good luck.
I appreciate the comment. That is all very true for sure. I'm willing to deal with whatever the car does. I slammed my daily driver and it rode horrible. With this car I'm expecting a stuff ride and hard to get places but it isn't a car id drive every day. So I'll feel it out as I go.
It's not that often I need to pause and think to digest things. Did a few times on this vid. Very informacational!! Also, it looks like one of my favorite expressions works yet again with your axle links. "Cut to fit. Trim to suit." Can't tell you how many times I've had to whittle things on everything I've ever built whether cars and steel or objects of wood.
Bags would be absolutely sweet on this car, I feel it would fit this build so much
Just because a weld looks good doesn’t mean there’s penetration, weld up a couple of test pieces with the 110 welder, then cut it apart at multiple spots to see if it penetrating or just sitting on top of the plate. The ride height looks killer, just cycle the suspension in the middle and on each side to simulate hitting bumps to make sure it doesn’t bind or contact the frame or body, then wiggle it back and forth just to check side loading before you finish welding it up
I like the cribbing you built to support the Galaxie.
That looks sick on the bumpstops! this is going to be so badass when it's done!
Great commitment buddy.
On those upper arms you are right, you need to make sure you're pivot points are square to each other.
Duuuuude yes! Looks so sick
Best part of the day! That NineONine SpeedCo merch is on the way! Can’t wait to rock it! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Nice job man!j. I like seeing this type of video from you - I ain’t even a Ford dude but it’s cool to see your progress.
Always look forward to uploads! Keep grinding bro.
Kudos for just diving in and doing things. The welds on the brackets were very nice. Good luck with the rest.
Excellent job on that suspension!
there is a little number 1 molded on the dist cap, make sure your cyl 1 plug wire starts on that terminal. the window wheel inside the dist is what times the fuel injectors for the sequential injection. if its off then you would be spraying fuel at the back of a closed valve and can cause small issues
My 110 welder has surprised me also. I'd be a little nervous using it for structural stuff, though. Good content as always!
I'm dieing to see that Galaxy finished. My 1st car was a 62 Galaxy back in 72 when I was 16. Loved that car but didn't have the money to fix it up.
I've got the Lincoln 140. Does a good job, although I've done little to no frame welding. Does a good job up to 1/4" stock.
Keep up the great work! Glad to see you back on the Galaxy
With the mustang mine did the same when it was the stock efi and mine was a combination with a really dirty air filter and a vacuum leak. These cars have a maze of vacuum lines. I’d check that by spraying brake cleaner or something of the sort and listing to a change in idle.
Nice build
Check your drive you have to make sure you got the right alignment for your ujoint
Always loved fox body mustangs. Now i have a 79 mustang ghia coupe 5.0
The Galaxy is a "Bravo" vehicle :-)) You will look back in years to come and say... ya those Galaxies... expensive but... ya... cool cars.. somewhat against the grain at the time... but cool things almost always are... somewhat against the grain ;-) Craig have you seen a youtube channel called "Halfass Kustoms" You'd dig this guy. You are cut from the same cloth and if you had the shop space and where-with-all, your creativity and skill with metal would lead you to a similar creative space. You need a set up like he's got to greater or lesser degree. Anyway, I think you'd like what he's got going on and could learn some cool ideas on how to go about things [the fabrication skills are there for sure bud]. :-)
not a fan of those UCA mounts on the axle. and i would take another look at link separation....i would suggest at least 7" (for a 20) on the frame end and as close as you can get to twice that on the axle end.
Hell yeah! Ordered my shirt! Congrats man!
back when you were playing with the mustang, I could distinctly hear a vacuum leak... that'll really mess with you.
Nice! I bought an eBay 4 link kit for my 1972 F100, all the parts look the exact same as yours. Even the bar length looks similar, I guess that shows how universal these kits really are lol. I had to change the bar length and retap the threads too, our parts must be coming from the same place.
They are, China.
Bag it! Looks killer.
love the video, cant wait to see the suspension done.
Good to see you got a little time to work on the 64's keep up the good work bro
Glad to see you back on the Galaxies, that ride height looks sick!
I like it! Your beater is the mustang.
Always look forward to uploads!
Physics, Math, Science, well thought out common sense, Craig puts Bill Nye the Science Guy to shame. Awesome vids!
Team boosted did a video on how to make your own bags and they are located in San Diego you should colab with them
Nice dimes Officer Craig, lying down on your side welding is the worst👽have you had a spark dance around in your ear yet, sucks. I know you did, but you didn't mention anything about setting the pinion angle. 😎
You look like Joe Dirt with that mustache LOL
Excellent welding skills! Cannot get enough of your channel, can’t wait to see the completed project. But are they ever really completed?
Definitely need to bag it! Keep up the good work!
do a base idle reset on the foxbody. several videos on youtube
Great job
Wassup with the mustache 😬
Ha man . Buy yourself a 6500W gas generator . It should carry any load your welder will put on it .
Sickkk I wanna tub my el Camino now
Looks like you are getting the galaxy the way you want it 😉, but your stache is giving me flash backs to bad 70's movies 😃😄😅🤣😂😉
man that looks so good! Love these galaxie builds🙌 what's the drive shaft height like when its on the bumps?
Turn your welder up. Definitely cold
Look at the possibility of four wheel disc brakes kid
You need a panhard bar.
Love'n the Big G!
Good stuff. 🤟😎
That Galaxie is HOT Lookin! Great job!
Ok i wasn't going to ask but at the end of the video @23:01 you say too. On the front ride height did you factor in the motor and transmission weight on how high it will sit ? Because you said it will be 2inch higher is that plus the heavy ass motor and trans and fluids and all the extra BS?
Yea I have. Issue is turning. We may bag the car just so It can drive comfortably and air out.
Get a Ford distributor wrench. No more "owwws!"
Bad 3rd and 4th shifts mean bad synchronizers and ort badly worn 3rd and 4th gears. Maybe some one put the wrong gear oil/tranns fluid. In my book change gear oil put the proper oil in it and drive it till it breaks
I know the galaxie has alot to be done, but are you keeping it drum all the way around? Or are you going to do front discs?
We’ll swap to front disk
Adjust your clutch cable or get a new one.
Noice !
So are you still gonna sell the "white" galaxy and what's the plans with the red one
What is the model of the Lincoln welder that you use? I’ve been looking to get one for some time now
Craig what’s the deal with the porno stache and much long overdue haircut? Don’t say no time due to working on your fleet of vehicles either! Nice suspension work and design as well as welding but, maybe next time use larger wall and diameter links man because strength counts on heavy vehicles. No matter if you’ve got 150 RWHP or 650+ RWHP always build your suspension for strength and stability unless extreme angle and lightweight components are needed. Cold rolled, hot rolled, chrome moly or even aluminum will do when building a custom suspension on classics.
I'm not positive, but did you end up getting rid of those ridler wheels? If so I think I ended up with them. Got them from a guy on the 62 galaxie Facebook page!
something about craigs looks tells me he's single again.
Grange the channel from"thecraig to thestache
I’m confused at this point is this the white galaxie or the red one? I don’t usually watch the galaxie videos so I’m kinda lost.
Why didnt you just cut the other ends off the fourlink and shorten the links.
The car is living up to its name Ford. Lol
Make a channel for the drive shaft. then you will have what you need for height
when are you doing the frame swap on the f100?
Hes addressed it in a few videos, but basically not anytime soon. Might be a motor build or 2 away from that
When my red galaxie is done. I'm getting faster at getting cars done but Id like to say we'll start on the truck swap in 2022
Hi, how can i contact you?
Sounds like the synchros are going out in your trans. T-5?
What’s with the BIG hair 🇬🇧🎃
I wish you would stop calling your rides “pieces of junk or shit”. At least you HAVE some cool stuff to be wrenching on. Be thankful.
I agree.
