Seeing you load the spreader bought back a few memories of 50yrs ago. It was my job then to load the spreader, while the farm manager was tucking into his bacon and egg. The job was always worse on a wet day because there was 3 times as much to shift, plus it was so liquid it would run off the back of the shovel. Happy days.
I love every single one of your videos, Rich! Thank you for the content, I’m an avid farming sim player and just love seeing all you do around the farm.
Shame you don't use the Massey for other jobs it's a decent size tractor that doesn't really want to be sat on a muck spreader all the time you should use it when mowing or tending in the summer
It seems that a 4-6 year old used spreader would serve you with a substantial cost savings. After a month you won't be able to tell if it is new or 6 years old. Besides you would be able to attend a good auction sale.
Well wear Richard, it will see you out😉,a piece of rubber might be better to use as a seal, silicone can be corrosive, and a lick of paint on the edges you cut, might want to adjust ram to seal top flap.
No need to wash it off, leave it outside in all this rain we've got, it'll clean it.... I'm thinking of starting a new business, building Arks & changing my name to Noah !!!
I like how you are saying you scary to get it dirty but you take an girder to it brand new and you do that you cousl at least made the cut straight 🤔🤷🏽♂️
Richard if you want to keep some muck off the tractor we used to have a metal sheet on ours a the front about 2 foot high you don’t need to see into the spreader cos daily scrapings are more likely to hit the tractor than rotten manure it was made from angle and corrugated roof sheet the sheet would last a few years
I wanted to see if your mastic sealed or leaked =-P , I've started to watch 'farming' a lot now ,there's something interesting about it , living in London all my life so some of it confuses me lol . like the Maize vids , why see if it's ripe if all you do is 'shred it all up anyway and leave it for months. anyway...i'm having fun keep it up =-)
It as a pitty you had too cut the back off the new dung spreader could you not have come up a with another plan, like but a guide on too of the slurry ramp
fancy muck spreader the new machinery sure isn't made for older farm buildings have you ever thought of getting a skidsteer. I was always told by my dad that cleaning equipment after use last longer. Really like your intro. Greetings from Alberta
Couldn't agree more about cleaning machinery after use our howard dung spreader will be 24 years old this year lasted do long purely cuz it gets cleaned out every year
Lovely machine until you commited GBH on it :-D Seriously though, cutting out the panel makes sense due to the lip on your ramp. Sealing up the drain holes though ?? Even if you washed it once a year, it will improve its longevity. Marshall make good machines, but I doubt it will last as long as your old one if you intend to use it in the same manner. Best of luck with it all the same
@@gregshearer423 yes it will. That probably would have taken 200 euro value off it and if not painted will cause it to rust. The spread might also be affected I'm not sure though.
im sorry but marshal trailers metal is actually quite soft all there trailers bend and sway when tipping give that spreader some years and work and she will be soft

Good video Richard, if you get a chance slap a bit of paint on the cut steel edge.
With the wet autumn wider tires will make a big difference.
Bolt on rubber flap where you cut of bit it would flex when backing in
Good idea was thinking he could do somthing like that
Get some red oxide paint on the bare metal!! Always interesting vids Richard. Good stuff..
No point in painting it, it's only a muck spreader
Dairy Farmer3645 it’ll rust and the paint will chip away
Ramp for scraper a super smart idea. But in ice and sun would the 135 I think push the muck up there?
I love every single one of your videos, Rich! Thank you for the content, I’m an avid farming sim player and just love seeing all you do around the farm.
If you don't plan the brake the brake hydraulic hoses destroyed to destroy the tractor brakes
Great video we have a Fraser side spreader new in 97. Still does the job keep it up 👍
Nice video Richard.. That poor tractor could use a good wash though. 🚜👍🇺🇸
Neusa C yes totally agree
Why dont you plug in hydraulic breaks nd lights
Rubber matt would be better than sealant. Also get that edge neatened up and painted pronto.
Good video though
You need a slurry pit 😂 love the videos. Brilliant job 💪
By the time you hit 68, the boys should be getting up early to milk the cows and you can sleep in a bit. Love the videos, keep it up.
May I ask what the new manure spreader costs?
I'm interested in this part!
I also want a !!!

at 7:57, in the shed next to the house is that an older spreader? think I have seen it on a older video of yours.
Looks good, I wonder if the muck is a bit on the sloppy side hence the leaking, anyway hopefully it'll seal itself and stop that.
You have a good setup it makes such a better job just pushing it into the spreader than lifting it and making a mess
I would have sooner put a fold down flap on the ramp than cut that bit off the spreader 🤣 i bet it was painful having to to do that
Exactly...i cant beleive u just done that...it might affect the spreading profile of the flails. Go and Weld it back on
Agree it would have been a tiny job to have just brought the ramp out further and increased the slope a small bit towards end.
Open the lid when u scrap in.
And this achieves what ?
when are live again richard
Would it kill to wash it after ?
I think the leaking problem was because the muck was more slurry to be honest
Not sure the lid should be leaking like that - has the hydraulic ram closed it completely?
You know the smell is bad when Richard says it stinks!!
I would want to keep it nice and clean. It only needs a pressure washer on it each time.
Nice spreader ort to plug your lights and brakes in
Maybe if you open the top lid when filling it will help you get a better load, it's there for a reason
How could he get better load when its practically slurry in it ???
@@PaulA-il7ms instead of hitting it with the scraper, just open it up
@@harrywaudby1781 once again how does the allow more in with liquid shit !! It can only fill up to the the rim before it flows over .
Big fan of your videos Richard but taking a grinder to a new bit of kit like that is haunting
Y do u not use the tractor and leader with the bucket on to left the bit of muck that what we do
Your a great man on the shovel 😂
In the Mazie harvest their was a slurry speeder in the yard is its yours
The reason it’s leaking is because it’s for muck not slurry and slurry is smooth not chunky
What is the model no of the spreader
Nice video Ricard would it not be faster to shove the muck from the parlour in the loader bucket and tip it in ?
Where's your bio security Richard..... Get that old muck spreader power washed out before it leaves the farm.....it may be destined for the eu !!!!😂😂
Well wear Richard, it will see you out😉,a piece of rubber might be better to use as a seal, silicone can be corrosive, and a lick of paint on the edges you cut, might want to adjust ram to seal top flap.
Well it will be okay if you clean and take care of it unlike the last one, it will last more than 17 years if you give it some TLC.
I would of bought the old one of you to use
Enjoyed the video nice handy Massey 😀😀👍
Whats yr plan with that field? I'd much rather put it on the back end of winter than in the Autumn, yr losing a lot of yr nutrient value out of it.
Can't believe ya cut the back off the spreader
It was so he could get it under the ramp
@Richard Bennett he cut it wit angle grinder rust like hell
.
Sure they could merry chrimbo
No need to wash it off, leave it outside in all this rain we've got, it'll clean it.... I'm thinking of starting a new business, building Arks & changing my name to Noah !!!
You need to clean and paint that edge wont last like your old one with a raw edge like that for winter work
How come you blocked up the drain holes ? They are ment to drain water out when it's not in use so it doesn't rust as quick
It's always in use so I don't need them. I found that slurry kept leaking out of them while i was using it
@@thefunkyfarmer ah right fair enough
I actually like the new spreader better then the new mustang you rented in the USA.
That gap will bung up with a bit of strawy stuff going through it.
I like how you are saying you scary to get it dirty but you take an girder to it brand new and you do that you cousl at least made the cut straight 🤔🤷🏽♂️
That right aye?
Up early again. You really do get up early every single morning!
What about ur abbey slurry tanker
I think that the hydraulic cilynder is not fully extended
Making a nice ol job. Hopefully this one last 17 years 😂
You should powerwash it for winter

A good wheel Barrow would do you
Big fan Richard but that is rough on a new bit of kit. :/
That bad can't believe u cut the new spreader farmers ar animals
You spoilt the Marshall spreader by cutting the back plate away. It looks a well made spreader. I don't envey you loading the slurry by hand!
how many tractors have ye lad
Ik you said about the 135 being rotton so you dont wash it but please just wash it
Good video Richard 👍🏻
It as a pitty you had too cut the back off the new dung spreader could you not have come up a with another plan, like but a guide on too of the slurry ramp
Nice keep up the good work
Grate video Richard getting it mucked up I wat it’s ment for 👍🏻 out of interest what camera do you use to record your videos keep up the grate work !!
Sony camcorder
You're maybe a bit like me Richard. Would love to get time to wash machinery and tractor.
Do you now have 2 mcormak loader tractors a massey ferguson drop nose and a massey ferguson 135 scraper tractor
Farmer 2003 aye he does
hi Richard hope to some more muck Spreader
Jack and Harry could do the milking by then
? why are you sealing up a drain plug
I don't need it to drain as it will be in constant use
Never understood rotaspreaders. Why would anyone buy a machine that puts more muck on the tractor cab than the field.
We had one 30 years or more ago. Kinda glad we scrap and pump and don’t go onto the fields everyday.
fancy muck spreader the new machinery sure isn't made for older farm buildings have you ever thought of getting a skidsteer. I was always told by my dad that cleaning equipment after use last longer. Really like your intro. Greetings from Alberta
I'm sure he would love a skid steer, but it's a big cost.

Great vid, might need a 'bleep' at 1.25 ;)
MaxxumPwr I thought that. But he says really thick and heavy.
In my opinion you would have been better off putting the money spent of the muck spreader towards a better setup
Joey83 how the price of that spreader ain’t going to change very much
@@gregshearer423 yes it will. That probably would have taken 200 euro value off it and if not painted will cause it to rust. The spread might also be affected I'm not sure though.

🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪👍👍
Slob
If you are no happy about it getting muddy why don't you wash it
Lack of time probably
Aww poor farmers there's no such thing as a poor farmer you know it and I know it !!! Tea party for silage lol , Christmas cake for new 4x4 or quad ??
And a milk price the same as 1996
Seems lak such a waste of a good tractor just sitting on the dung spreader doing very little. To the point the hitches lock is seized
Get a mustang like Farmer p///
Will you wash your trater of
😃xx
Why did you buy a brand new spreader and chop it up? 🤔.try and tidy edges up!
