man you have grown so much since the original third age days, i remember when you became the most subscribed to total war channel now you are on a whole another level congrats keep going strong
Hello hello, massilia player here! I have to say that Apollo you're the reason I bought this game, and now you're commentating one of my replays! Imagine watching someone since you were 10 years old and being featured on their show! Thanks!!! It's pronounced "Tsepzz=Chepz"
Awesome battle dude! How did you pull it off in the end we didn’t get to see 😂. What happened on that left flank (from your perspective) at the end to beat them off haha. Great comeback!
@@morgoth1179 well I basically leaned into the high ground and pushed with my hoplites.. Plus, I made sure that I could flank them so I was squeezing from both sides. Eventually I was able to get my gen though a gap with a unit. I killed cartage's gen and then surrounded! I thought it was over too!
hey i m the Carthage attacker featured. apollo u are the reason I bought Rome 2 and a bunch of another game like banner lord and I used to enjoy ur rome 2 commentary. but I hope in case u see this, you d take a couple of advice: 1. stop telling ppl to put archers on the wall, yes it some times works but it's far from a universal thing to do, in fact it rarely work, and like there s some much more staff to cover than to keep giving that advice over and over. tell them about game mechanics, cycle charge, the difference between charge through and pull through etc for a change 2. stop telling ppl to conserve ammo. archors should use ammo whenever there s a good target to shoot at, and archers that doesn't use ammo, in the beginning, is only gotta be a huge target in the late game. start thinking about conserving ammo once it reaches about half ammo count 3. why I didn't land my troops in the middle in the beginning? because an experienced attacker have a plan and they don't land immediately just to get javed and shoot to death from all sides. u didn't notice in ur commentary but I was busy winning an archer engagement and also softening defense in the landing zone with my 200 kills arty and shooting galatians 4. later on u ask me why I m fighting a losing archer battle, except u didn't notice all the archor within their range have dagger out and slightly less than 200 kills, Egypt was wasting ammo on my out of ammo archer and I was actually shooting back at his archer so it was an absolute win for me in terms of ammo count. in total my missile killed 390 more infantry than Egypt missile did, and that includes 2 pike. 5.nobody attack the right-hand side of that final stand. It's a known deathtrap(yeah I can tell u don't know that). and that's why we lose in the end, selucid was a noob to follow ur advice and wasted all his units there 6. all of point 345 is really just to show case how much u missed in the commentary. my final advice is that u should focus more on the strategic side of the battle, watch Maximus video on rome 2 tutorial if u still haven't yet(introductory course to Rome 2 combat). ur video was very enjoyable to me when I was a noob in rome 2, but a lot of experienced player including me share the common feeling that u really could use more knowledge about this game.
Finally, about the ending, we get hundreds of these videos but not many glimpses into your personal life, so I'm thankful for you opening up about that in the end. Really makes me more eager to support your channel and to get to know the person behind it!
I love the ending while Apollo is opening is heart and tell us a backstory we can see the attacking pikes waver and the Massilia General rear charge but Apollo continues then he's all surprised.
Bro I just discovered your channel like a week ago and I'm loving the content, I watched like 20 videos which is too much for somebody like me. Keep it up!
When you began about the start of your channel... I felt old. I've been subbed for like 6 - 7 years (at least) and have never regretted it. Keep doing you, Apollo, and I'll keep watching your goodies! ;)
I typically will run all Thorax Swords, Thureos Spears, and archers. Swords take the wall, spears defend archers, archers move rapidly onto wall to cover the swords moving downstairs for the beachhead. All towers, no turtles. Then bring the spears in last to protect them from cav sally and have throwables inside the walls for the pikes always at the end.
@@stevens8162 sorta. on the top of the wall the sword is best and usually defenders park spears at the bottom of the stair wells you have to chop through. to safely get your swords down the stairs you have to move the archers in on top of the wall and take the towers from the tops or at least contest them. the towers + archers are your artillery line that sweep the base of the wall clear. if you don't they'll move fast their archers will kill attrit your swords. your wall top archers will outrange theirs so you have local superiority. You only need your own spears for the pila they throw when archers run low on ammo and countering their cav. once the body of your force is on the wall their cav is less of an issue and the spears are the perfect rear guard against that in the city.
@@stevens8162 no problem. usually multiplayer runs by 4-2-1 rules. 4 archers, 2 pike, 1 arty max. My only general rule of thumb for offense and pixalated seems to agree in his vids, when you assault, you assault all at once. Your entire army needs to be attacking the wall on a broad front, storming gates from the top on both sides and taking long sections of wall that can be easily moved down from.
@@gryphon0468 its not a pro gamer move its more so my teammate is a noob sending all hill mans to die immediately wasting all archer ammo on hoplites and spears and finally attacked that slope when he should have hold back. true, we would have lost to time if he didn't attack, but that's bc the host messed up and set the time to 40 minutes instead of an hour. and I don't have a unit to hold in the back, the balance of power was in our favor bc syrian archor and barelic slinger consist of a large portion of our still healthy units. and we would have still win if my teammate didn't lose his general and 2 city zen cav charging the front of the pike in the end. which finally exposed my back and allow the massaily gen to attack me in the back

The way to get your men up there is to send the cheap troops to get the foothold on the walls for the heavier and more costly troops to deal damage. For an example If I was a general of the Kushite army in a Siege I would use the Slave infantry as a cheap troop to get a beachhead on the defenses and then if it has armored opponents then send in the Shotel warriors and armored shotel warriors where they are made to pierce the armor of the opponent but for the gallic and germanic units which has little to no armor then use a unit or two of Disciples of Apedemak to deal with lighter troops so the Skirmishers cab get on the wall for supporting the infantry. It is smarter to use cannon fodder to hit the wall first to set up the seige tower or Tortoise and make the opening so the better specialized units can get in and get business done.
