Yeah, I can't believe Lorne Balfe just completely abandoned the letimofs Ramin Djawadi composed in this film. I would've been fine if Balfe at least used the letimofs from the first film for Uprising, but he just completely threw them to the side! And even when he DID use the main theme from this film, it's much worse than in this film!
you can debate whatever you want about the sequel, but what i like about the original pacific rim was that the mechs are more mechanical feel. The robots in the second film were faster more advance, thats what made it feel unreal. The jaegers in the first film have short delays in their movements from the pilots, the sounds and slow movements is what we love about the jaegers.
The thing about the animation that they got SO RIGHT in this movie is the WEIGHT, these things are thousands of TONS on this earth with it's gravitational force, it looks REAL because they really sweat the details, I love this movie and could watch it a hundred times more than I already HAVE!!!...

i love how in pasific rim 1 pilots were assigned and trained for a specific jaeger so they can take its full advantage , in uprising....well......ill pretend that movie does not exist

👍I can't believe its been 10 years since these AWESOME JAEGERS, Kaiju kicking movie came out and completely shifted the Paradigm. Wished they had extended the fight scenes for Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon.
It's interesting how the writers demonstrate that the Kaiju creators were learning and modifying their designs and behavior to counter human developments. Knifehead obviously had a specific attack planned, and we see it attempt the maneuver a few times before finally connecting. It was clearly made to take advantage of the fighting style of Jaegers like Gipsy that uses its hands for both attack and defense, often leaving the core somewhat unguarded during its most powerful attacks. The human pilots didn't recognize the danger of Knifehead's adaptation until it was too late. Jaegers are unfortunately rather limited to human fighting forms, whereas the Kaiju can wear nearly any body form they want, allowing them to strike from other body parts like the head and tail, and we see that is exactly what ends up defeating both Gipsy and Crimson Typhoon. China's Jaeger was arguably the most dynamic non-human design of them all, yet it was ultimately outclassed and destroyed without the Kaiju even using their most advanced new weaponry, the acid spray and EMP organs.
Being on that boat would be the most terrifying thing ever, imagine in front of you, a 315 foot monster that can wipe you out with one blow, and behind you, a 250 foot jaeger that can is trying to defeat that knifehead, while trying to protect you on the boat
Man I sure love the Pacific rim franchise! Because of how awesome the fights really are, and it makes me wonder if I can have myself a combination of all of the most greatest most iconic and most awesome Pacific rim Jaegers ever made! Which means my own Pacific rim giant robot creation will be dubbed shatterdome Colossus.
Watching them get settled in the them robots remind me of how Japanese robot anime were back in the day… this is why I like this movie. It captures the spirit of it all
The first one was an excellent ride; the kind you had back in the 80s and 90s when watching a new and fantastic movie. The second one was gutter trash devoid of anything meaningful and gibberish at best.

you can debate whatever you want about the sequel, but what i like about the original pacific rim was that the mechs are more mechanical feel.
