    Hi Redwood, good catch, the eyelet is not the only solution and maybe it is overkill. There was originally a scene where I explained this but cut it out to stay under 10 min. In the past, I've sewn a buttonhole, glued a ring, or simply added a piece of fabric. Bottom line, just make sure you add some re-enforcement for the cord. I got the eyelet idea from Dan on BPL - looked clean. My 3/16" eyelet w/washer is MUCH less than 1/3rd the weight - closer to 1/85 or 0.06 grams :)

    Great video. Where do you recommend buying a roll of the pressure release tape? Rip stop by the roll sells it in 5 yard strips for approximately $5 for 1” wide. I’m. It sure what brand of tape it is.
    Thank you

      I'd buy direct from the manufacturer if possible. Or one of their suppliers.

    I'm guessing these will never leak, unlike the sewn ones that have literal holes in them and will stretch over time and fail even if taped over? Certainly looks like this would last forever in a non-trailblazing use as just a stuff sack in your bag etc.

      I still use it to this day, but it is beat up fairly bad. I wouldn't call it waterproof, but more water resistant.

    Since this video was made over 6 years ago, how has the sack held up? and I would like to see it with stuff inside of it.
    Thanks

    Hey Steve, nice video.
    Couldn't you just double up the material on the insert/exit point for the draw line, and ditch that grommet. Seems to be that the grommet is probably 1/3rd of the weight and not really necessary.
    I have Spectra cord inside of all of mine and if anything would cause the CF to tear it would be Spectra or Z-line, but it has never caused any issues.
    I just think you are over engineering yours with that grommet.
    Anyway, nice video that I am sure will help a lot of folks!

    Steve - Idea that may make things just a bit easier... You could adhere the drawstring inside rather than threading it through.

    Very cool! How strong is the bond?

    • @Suluk46
      @Suluk46  6 років тому +1

      Material will rip before the bond fails...so I guess it's pretty strong :)

    Nice video! Do you find the tape work as well as hysol?

    • @Suluk46
      @Suluk46  10 років тому

      Hi Ryan, in my experience, Hysol is superior to any tape I have used. However, it is also harder to work with and takes much longer to use, therefore I only use it when I need the additional strength.

    what weight of dyneema did you use?

    • @Suluk46
      @Suluk46  2 роки тому

      This was many years ago before it was bought by dyneema, so this weight was referred to as 0.33 oz/yd Cuben Fiber.
