Doing stuff for friends, even mates rates will always backfire. Offered to help a so called friend out on a wedding entertainment once, went from a few hours to a full day, and that was at 50% of what I normally charge, even then it was just a torrent of complaints. needless to say, they are not friends now. I will try to help people out, however some expect champagne on a lemonade budget. The fact it was not taken back to yourselves to remedy any defects to be honest is their choice, you no longer have any responsibility on it as they can not prove the other company didn’t do anything wrong. I can understand trying to protect your business, personally I would say they had their chance to get it sorted by yourselves and just walk away, no refund, nothing, You did what you were paid to do, you fulfilled that part of the contract. If you can’t afford stuff don’t get it, simple theory, realised they were overstretched financially and now trying to make you pay for their errors.

Exactly why we released this statement in this format. Just to take all Drama and emotion out of it and just state facts. We wouldn’t have had to if the couple just brought the van back for snag work like anyone In The world would do rather than a dramatic video trying to bring a family run firm down 🙄
Few things stood out from their video that just didn’t seem to ring true for me. Critical of your skill level but knew you personally before so would have knows your work etc so why agree to have you build it. Don’t know the ins and outs but a lot of what she said seemed to be “this could have” etc rather than fact. Hope it gets cleared up either way lads.
Thank you matey. We basically put a bespoke built studio flat inside a van 🚐 Sometimes unfortunately there are some snags… If you bought a home from Redrow you wouldn’t go to Barrett for snag work because they have more subscribers on UA-cam 🙈 I have friend with 100-200k motorhomes which all have had snags and gone back for things doing… In previous videos she stated ( taken from transcript of her video) I just hope people can see through their Dramatised Bulls**t 2030 when I was looking for somebody to convert it I wanted somebody that I could wasn't trust that they would had good experience in converting Vans already see seeing some of their end results cost and somebody that I could communicate well with that understand where I was coming from and I found somebody yes I found somebody and that is going to be excited and do you know who I'm going to have the van converted with have you it out yet final result of the conversion is going to be revealed uh when I see it really or when I have it back which will be at campan camp out in early May yeah I'm really excited about that I'm on the phone to the person that is the company and the people that are converting it on
All that with the fridge saying her other half was an electrical engineer. So why didn’t they just buy their own fridge and have him fit it? There’s always two sides but a lot of things in their video just stood out as not adding up and that’s coming from an outsider with nothing to gain on either side.
Yes snags happen with anything that’s built (I work in construction) but a customer has to give the company the opportunity to put things right not nip off to a competitor and have it done and then try to bad mouth you guys.
@@benriley324 thank you buddy ❤️ And the fridge was fixed (broke because of trying to use it with an old temporary 95ah Agm battery ‘when told not to’ that I put in for free so she has lighting until her 300ah lithium arrived which I had dropshipped to their home address as it was on back order) almost immediately

@@elizabethdavies9573 Thank you 🙏 Unfortunately gaining a few subscribers and a few quid on UA-cam means more to some people. This is why we did the video in this format to take away all emotion and drama from the situation. Again thank you for your support ❤️
From what this seems to me guys, is she has clearly found a lovely bunch of guys that so clearly take pride in their work, and set out to create a scam in getting a van converted for free, then having and using content for her own UA-cam channel to make money from it, which I find is truly awful behaviour, the truth will always come out and karma is a hell of a bitch, keep doing what you are doing, your all totally awesome tradespeople❤
The video in question popped up on my timeline so i thought i'd give it a watch. Now just watched the reply as there is always two sides to every story. Without knowing the full ins and outs, as a self employed tradesman i know how things can not go according to plan with things like snagging and customers changing their minds. I'd say law wise they have to give the company a chance to put whatever they see as wrong with the product, in this case a van build, back to what the customer sees as being right. You can't just take the van off to another builder, especially in that timeframe. Because of this and the social media video the couple in question have made things very hard for themselves, something that looks like it could have been handled amicably has snowballed. Also, from someone who has been in this situation in my line of work, it seems the original video doesn't tell everything that has gone on.
Thank you matey. All we can say is there is so many discrepancies in their video and they contradict them selves over and over again. We asked them to bring the van back within hours of them contacting us and after they said they would they was elsewhere within 48hours. We have also after this dramatic video asked them to bring up the van and we have had no reply whatsoever. Looks like it’s all about the dramatic UA-cam videos to us and not about the van at all
@@Avccampers I thought someone had died the way the video started off, all very dramatic. Seems to be the way in the van life community for some reason. In my personal opinion it’s to gain traction on their UA-cam channel and hurt us personally in the process 😔
I’ve watched the issues on the van conversion you did. It appears on first glance it did look a great professional conversion, it looked fab. But the reality was , it was evidenced to be quite a botched up job, particularly the diesel heater installation - to be honest, I would probably have lost faith in your team, and have opted for another conversion company to rectify the issues. It’s a shame it ended the way the way it did.
Any job of a construction nature would normally have a defects period during which the customer should co-operate with whoever carried out the work to have defects rectified. I fail to see how they co-operated with you on this point.
This is one of the main reasons we are having to defend ourselves. Unfortunately they made this public (in my opinion, for their own gain) and told many untruths including that we wouldn’t cooperate or respond to them, even pleading to us at the end of the video to get in touch 🙈 This is why we had to prove the fact that we replied on Two separate occasions within hours of receiving correspondence 👌
With you 100% here but my advice for what it’s worth is to remove their email address & any other contact info. I’m sure your legal representative would advise the same!
I can understand trying to protect your business, personally I would say they had their chance to get it sorted by yourselves and just walk away, no refund, nothing,
You did what you were paid to do, you fulfilled that part of the contract.
If you can’t afford stuff don’t get it, simple theory, realised they were overstretched financially and now trying to make you pay for their errors.

There’s always two sides but a lot of things in their video just stood out as not adding up and that’s coming from an outsider with nothing to gain on either side.

That’s not the case and we have had confirmation of this but thanks for your comment 👌
Chancers…..
Such a shame isn’t it matey 😔
(It’s clear they didn’t proof it prior to posting) The world’s full of crazy people who will contact them, & you’ll be responsible for posting their details! It won’t do you any favours in a court of law should it end up that far. As I say, otherwise I think you’ve shown them up to be chancers in this & I’ve never seen their or your videos before (good old UA-cam algorithm suggesting I should watch it). All the best.
