Manoah? He had TJS surgery last June. At best he is back in June. He is likely to be used out of the pen or as an opener. Maybe he can work back up to "starting" by August or September.
Dont need arms or expensive bats. Shatkins is in on coaxing Ozzie Smith out of retirement on a 3 year deal. Analyzing footage from the 1994 season they think they found a hitch in his swing path and internal projections say there is 5 WAR there. They are exited, they are having conversations, they really like him, this raises the floor, they trust the process. Also, Shatkins says pamplemousse.
Hopefully Bellinger is a 2 year Yankee. Soler and Bellinger, 2 options everyone wanted here last year - both jetisoned for scraps. I still think the inactivity last year was a blessing. We're in a better position wanting to add than we'd be if we were needing to subtract.
As it stands Bassitt is our trade candidate out of the rotation if the team can't compete at the trade deadline, I wouldn't mind another pitcher who could fit that same bill and have Rodriguez and Francis compete for the 5-spot.
They should sign a number 1 for sure. Should be the top of the list. In next year bassitt is gone and possibly gauseman and berrios (opt out)gone the year after. Any LF they get now isn’t going to send them to the playoffs. The 30 mil cost on a starter will mostly be offset with bassit leaving next year. Or move bassit this year
Horwitz got flipped by Cleveland for a 3.0 WAR starting pitcher with a 3.32 ERA who was a long reliever in the first half and had 15 starts in the second half, 7 of which were quality starts - and that starting pitcher is being paid only $800k in 2025 and 2026. They also got two lefty pitching prospects that are now in their top 20 prospects list. Why couldn't the Jays trade for that?
They seem to want quality. It Doesn't seem to matter what position. Gimenez for instance (quality debatable) They were 'expecting' Ohtani in their rotation in 2025, so it makes sense that they've always want a top of the line starter for this season. They're basically left with Burnes for 8, which may be the least desired outcome for that role... it helps though. I think YRod is going to get a taste at closer to start the year. It's time to do what got him here. Clase may have made closing look 'cool' to him and I hope he chases that glory. I actually thought they may trade Horowitz for Bubic in KC, left bullpen arm who wants to get a stab in the rotation.
What more did Yarriel have to prove in Buffalo? Maybe his walk rate was a bit high, but thats who this guy is? Have to atleast let the guy have a chance to see if he can be a starter. ERNIE needed the year in Buffalo? Stupidity. He was a gold glove finalist and had league average bat. Did you maybe mean Barger? Maybe. But you have to see a guy at the big league level to know what he has to work on and somtimes to prove to them what they have to do to get better. By the All-Star game they were just playing ou the season.
They need to tear down the team and start over. Trade Vladdy now while his value is high. Wait until the deadline with the hope Bo has a good first hall then trade him at the deadline. This team is going nowhere this year.
This team has quite a few holes in its roster and a front office that has shown themselves to be incompetent. I have no confidence in the team being competitive this season
I would sign Yarbrough for 2 years, $12.5mil/yr ($25 million). He was a pretty effective middle-inning reliever who could spot-start.
Any time you have a chance to add a top of the rotation ace you try. Period. If you add Burnes you can trade other starting pitching to add bats.
They need a star starter, a star hitter and a star BP piece. They do this and they contend. If not, they are done as usual.

hi guys we need a 3rd baseman and left fielder ps we keep losing players that they say they were looking at

Because Shatkins is drooling over a team gold glove 3 peat.
@@MussellRartin It's the only team award he knows how to win...
Would you trade Bassitt, replace him with a 8-12m AAV rental arm to use the remaining 10m to help bring in more power at bats ?
That seems too cute to me and I'm not sure a team would take Bassitt salary. If the jays want to compete this season they will need to spend
Why not just bring in Trevor Bauer at this point. Can't possibly make vibes any worse than they are...joking...not joking
You have to be either joking or you are nuts.
LET Y ROD HIT
Can he
Position players are more important

Can't win if you don't score.
What a joke they can't even sign 1 bat in 2 years but they can get a boat load of gold gloves that can't hit there weight
Yes Bauer!
They don’t need a starter this year and if the young guys work out they can wait 2 years
They absolutely need a starter with a weak bullpen and 2 guys in the starting rotation right now without a track record.
Yariel Rodriguez wasn't able to go deep into games, and Bowden Francis got insanely lucky. Francis was a benefactor of an unsustainable babip
This team has quite a few holes in its roster and a front office that has shown themselves to be incompetent. I have no confidence in the team being competitive this season
They could use another starter but the hitting is more important.
They need as many arms as they can get. It was not a good season in 2024 pitching wise
