  • Will Phillipa Georgiou time travel in Star Trek Discovery? Join Trek Central's Captain Jack as he beams down today to explore the theories surrounding Michelle Yeoh's character of Phillipa Georgiou and the potential for her to time travel in the Star Trek universe to kickstart the Section 31 series, previously announced last year.
    Star Trek: Discovery is the seventh series set in the Star Trek universe. Created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, Discovery was originally set roughly a decade before Star Trek: The Original Series, set primarily aboard the starship USS Discovery, before jumping from the 23rd century to the 32nd century.

      @@2bituser569 I just spent reading a massive read on the Guardian, through novels references...from TOS with Kirk, Spock to NGen with Riker. They were using that that Device.
      Origin creation was referred to be a creation of Q's ancestry, even before the Q evolved to their current state. But all Books are Beta canon. But it was remarkably interesting to see things flushed out that way.
      And a small correction---I stated that the location of it, was in Alpha quadrant, it is not...it is in Beta. And the star system is unknown...it is indicated that the planet and the Device shifts position from time to time.

    I think the burn and gergio’s condition are connected. In this current episode Scavengers didn’t they isolate the song as a Federation distress signal? How do we know that the ship that sent the signal is from the prime universe? Maybe it’s a ship from the mirror universe that had the exact same problem with AI/control. Now there are no references about this from Gergio in Season 2 but how do we know that the prime and mirror universes were not experiencing the problem simultaneously? And, when the mirror universe ship made its jump it miscalculated and landed in the prime universe 125 years in before Burhnam and discovery. They then did something that accidentally caused the burn. And for all we know it’s mirror Burhnam and prime Lorca. But it also could be something connected to the Kelvin universe. That would be interesting since we have no news on a new Kelvin movie and this could be a way to introduce it in a TV format.

      That makes sense. One fact every one fails to expand upon is Tilly becoming a Captain and the Mycelial network. Tilly must be sent back to her time and rise through the ranks to become Captain on the Pike series with her own ship and command. And Georgio also has to go back to maintain as empress or slip into Tilly's time to be a part of Section 31. They could wind up leaving discovery together. Of course warp speed around a sun with specific matter antimatter mixtures also allowed time travel both in ToS and Star Trek IV. No need to seek the guardian at the city of forever, just Vulcan calculations with a willingness to make some educated guesses.
    Of course, they've now explained the problem as both dimensional and temporal travel being the cause but I was thinking that since a genetic difference was mentioned that perhaps an engineered widespread virus, phage or prion was developed to discourage dimensional travelers. We saw very specific engineered viruses before on TNG, that would also make it possible to find a cure somewhere and some when and it could also mean that genocide with a biogenic weapon is being hidden..

      Except that risks Control capturing the sphere data again... It would be better to use a warp capable shuttle to get her back in time by a warp slingshot around a sun. The Discovery crew may not be aware of the time warp slingshot but the 32nd century Federation would know of it and it only takes a Vulcan willing to make human educated guesses with the calculations to do it. • @johnwang9914
      @johnwang9914 3 роки тому

      The Delta insignia was supposed to be ship specific to the Enterprise in ToS and was probably inspired by the US Air force space core whose arrow head logo over a globe predates Star Trek. In ToS, Federation emblems not related to a ship was usually that of a Sun. There was also no arc in the Star Trek logo initially and the arc most likely represent an orbit as it does in the US Airforce emblem. I believe time travel was only part of three episodes in ToS so time travel is unlikely to be an integral part of the logo, emblem or communicator badge. Now in ToS, the markings were actually specific to the department's the crew members served in. The science department had a slightly different logo from command or operations, etc. The emblems are more like the mission badges our astronauts now use.

    I think we've already seen (in a way) how Georgio makes it back in time. During the short trek episode Calypso, Discovery is waiting for her crew for 1000 years. My theory is that Georgio takes Discovery back in time, then "parks" it in some hidden region of space where it's sitting for a 1,000 years to be reunited with the Discovery crew. Kind of how Doc Brown parked the Delorean in a cave for Marty to find in Back To the Future 3.

    Aside from the Guardian, there is another way to travel back in time that does not involve special technology, and has been established in TOS' era. The "slingshot affect."
    Georgiou will either take the ship in the nebula (which I still think is somehow Discovery from "Calypso"), and/or be responsible for it BEING in the nebula in the first place. Tasty little paradox.

  • @Bitchslapper316
    @Bitchslapper316 3 роки тому +1

    I believe the Discovery (the ship) is stuck in a temporal loop. I think it originated in the 32nd century as Starfleets answer to the burn which is why it's tech was never replicated in the past 1000 years, it wasn't invented yet. They will program the matter to make the discovery look like it did in the 22nd century then complete that loop by sending the ship back (not the crew, piloted by the AI) 1000 years to ensure the events play out as they did already. This would match the trek short and it wouldn't be a temporal violation because it's not changing the past or creating a new timeline, much like the events of first contact.

    While an interesting idea, I do not expect to see the Guardian of Forever make an appearance. I will sooner expect some contrived plot that makes far less sense.

    i would guess she travel back with a retrofitted discovery and hide it in the nebula for 1000 years, so that the short treck can happen and the distress signal from last episode is the discovery... maybe they even repeat the burn in the past (and are the source of it in the first place) to not altered the timeline

    Love Michelle Yeoh, but a Section 31 show just sounds like a bad idea for Star Trek -- they're the bad guys, even in Disco! 😕

      There not necessarily the bad guys, they are the bad guys with good intentions, maintaining peace trough violent ways. I would love to see S31 going behind Klingon lines and making a political assassination to a more open to discussion with UFP leader taking its place

      @Chris It kind of depends on interpertation. As stuffed full of Trill spirits, struggling to recover "her" own personality, she might have given up and just accepted she'll be a collective from now on, having nothing to do with gender percetion? She says that she has always struggled with being called a girl, but she also has no recollection of her life prior to the disaster on her ship, so most likely, she is still adapting to her new split personality.

      And when Kirk kissed Uhura on TV for the first interracial kiss I'm sure there was a Corey back in the 60's stating the same thing

    • @Tore_Lund
      @Tore_Lund 3 роки тому +1

      @Chris I forgot about Riker. Wasn't Kirk high on some alien influence when going down on Uhura? Does a disembodied consiousness have a gender? It might think it has, because it used to, but does the notion even make sense without any bits to go by? On the other hand, if gender purely is a social construct, how is it possible know what it feels like to anybody else, as in how is it then possible to determine if a gender is compatible to how you percieve yourself. I feel like a guy, but I have no idea of how others feel like being guys? If others for some reason percieve my gender wrong, who am I to say, that I'm not also percieving everybodys elses gender wrong. It can't be society or social norms that determines how you percieve yourself, based on how others classify you? This is why gender as a prerequesite to selfperception, is in a sense more limiting and a step back than say the Unisex movement in the 80', which had the ideal to abolish gender as a social element in society completely. I presume most of us in a worksetting, don't consider your collegues gender all the time, and talk and act just the same to everybody in your department?
