Plums! The fruit in the market that you weren’t familiar with are blue plums (damsons), I think.
They are sloes. Plums are round, sloes are spherical and have a darker purple color. And the flavor is quite different. The plum comes from the plum tree and the sloe comes from the blackthorn tree. It is common confuse one fruit with another, because at first glance they may seem the same, but they are not. Hope this helps. Kisses from Portugal.😘

Wow! The place where the Adriatic Sea sparkles, the ancient walls whisper stories, and my pronunciation of 'Hrvatska' might need a bit of work. Visited this few years ago to film for our TV show episode and the memories are still fresh, Croatia is like a vacation straight out of a Mediterranean postcard! Would love to go back again!

Jordan, while I lived outside of Rochester, NY, we use to always get this kind of plum, I remember, one time, my Aunt brought a whole basket of them, and my Cousin, Mary and I ate so many, we were both very sick, after! So I will never forget them. Your Mom and when you are home maybe when they are in season, should be able to buy these, if we could in Rochester. Last time in Split, we went to a fish spa! I am saving your vlogs because we are going there in 10 months but who is counting? Wow the European part of your contract really did fly by!! I’m glad you made the most of it and explored all it offered! One of my favorite parts of fall is walking through crunchy leaves love that sound! Also the beautiful reds and oranges the leaves turn! Have fun in the warmth of the Caribbean!!

That fruit, purple fruit, that you didn't recognize are sloes.
It's a typically European fruit, although its origin is from central Asia. It's very familiar in my country, Portugal. They are delicious and I love it. Their trees are the blackthorn.
The word in Portuguese is "abrunhos" and the trees are "abrunheira". Big hug, from Portugal.❤
They look more like prune plums to me, German zwetschgen.
