I totally agree with her. This whole KYC sounds and smells of government control over your own privacy.
That would
Allow exploits directly into your wallet.
As long as there is some pattern of increasing privacy people will pay less and less taxes and this increases the burden for those willing to report their crypto holdings and profits.
The only way decentralized finance and monero and other privacy coins make sense along with using the lightning Network and mixers would be for those avoiding taxes, as far as the IRS thinking goes.
How much should we really honor the honor system?
I'm pretty sure there is still an outstanding bounty from the IRS of over $600,000 for anybody that can crack the monero code, and for other privacy coins... Including the lightning Network...

I sold my UNI tokens a while back because it just doesn't seem to find much support. Now I'm glad I sold. UNI holders should sue Uniswap Labs for breach of contract.

Very concerning, Uniswap is the largest defi platform if my memory serves. Any protocol that wants to call itself "decentralized" MUST NOT be controlled by the government in any way.
That's very generous of you Heidi. For me, if anyone wants KYC they can talk to the hand.
V4 allows for anything to be built on it. A hook is an optional component.
Kyc is a function that can be added but as a developer I do not have to include it in the code

As per Uniswap discord, one community member made a v4 hook that does KYC. It is not done by Uniswap labs

shocker - always been centralized, anything ETH is. ETH is owned by JPM, dyor...
It would be difficult to make a fully decentralized app practical because who else is gonna push updates to it except some centralized party. Ofc if someone wanted to copy Uniswap and make a small change that no account could make changes to the contract then we would have fully decentralized Uniswap. And no one would need to know who deployed it.

You used to be able to access Binance with little more than an email address.

Again, it’s opt in at this moment, but it could be setting a precedent for regulators to try and enforce for all DeFi/DEXs.

Lets not be childish or naive about this. Any gap in the system that demonstrates a loss of control, which in the case of taxation could mean parts of the blockchain, they will attempt infiltration, manipulation and I believe the reason over 80,000 more IRS employees was called for in a bill is largely some effect and spillover from crypto.
Many of them will be chain analysts. The IRS doesn't really want cash 2.0 (decentralized blockchain freedom) or you could even say gold 2.0 after FDR stole it from America.
I don't think we can use privacy as an excuse to avoid paying taxes. That will be the main argument
The more people use crypto to avoid paying taxes the more it will have the reputation of being an avenue of criminality and theft and the more honest people will have to pay in taxes to make up for the crypto people
