In 2017 I went keto and intermittent fasting (all eating in a 2-4 hour window then no snacks or calorie containing drinks) and approximately 12 months later just stopped having cavities/decay. That is after many years of dentists telling me I just had decay prone teeth and quarterly drill and fill was just how Life would be. I wonder how many of them KNEW they were lying.

I have really focused on having my Zellies after I eat or drink, and waiting that whole hour, I look at a clock at work, which was my biggest enemy of not drinking water or coffee and having hard mint candies. And I am really doing well. I love it when I get really busy at my job and can go 2 hours. I tell my friends all the time, you need to look up Dr. Ellie. Again, thank you so very much.
@@lululena8050 Coffee is great - but have some Zellie afterward and then try to practice this kind of "mouth resting"....that's when teeth and gums are healed.
@@dr.elliephillipsI respect you so much! I have a question and I hope you see this and are able to respond. The original crest toothpaste with cool mint gel I can’t find anymore. The CLOSEST one I can find is it says “Crest Cavity Protection cool mint gel” but there’s a PLUS.with active fluoride. My question is can I use that toothpaste?. It looks to have the same ingredients as original cool mint gel. If I can’t use that, can I just use the original crest “regular toothpaste” I have every other brushing ingredient for your system. I hope you are able to respond. Thank you for sharing your knowledge ❤️❤️❤️ I’m just not sure if the original crest regular paste is too abrasive.
@@davidrobertson5894 I recommend the REGULAR PASTE - not the gel. Usually the gel does not clean well enough and teeth also can become sensitive for some reason. You are better with the paste - and the plus sign is some new product package design - should be the same SODIUM fluoride 0.243%
Incredible info. It also explains why our prehistoric ancesters had no cavities. It was not because they weren't eating fruits (sugar), it is because they ate less frequently. (Apart from hacing a healthier diet all together)
The fact that nobody talks about censored book called The 23 Former Doctor Truths by Lauren Clark really gets to me. Always loved people like Lauren, they open our eyes
I don't know how to praise you enough. I'm just two months into your complete mouth care and I am lost for words how I can praise you. Please if nobody believes what you are saying just know that some of us completely believe it and it has transformed our oral health. Let me use this opportunity to encourage all of us to follow everything that Dr. is saying. Thank you Dr. for saving my teeth. I will forever remember you.
Thank you for making your comment. After 50 years as a DDS I never found any other system that works to heal BOTH cavities and periodontal disease....and the reason we now know is about stabilization of healthy mouth bacteria. Cheers :)
Just a thought to share: I think we can skip closys if we take some xylitol mints or mints and wait for 20 minutes or so until the ph gets balanced, then use the toothpaste. The other thought, we could skip the listerine if we are using the xylitol mints or gum regularly and giving our mouth time to recover and not snacking all the time. To me, just a thought, the most important tools here are: xylitol, crest toothpaste, act mouthwash and fasting. Closys is good if we need to clean our mouth right after the food or if we have too much acidity in our mouth. Listerine is an extra help for the mouth to kill the bad bacteria. These are just thoughts and I hope the doctor corrects me please if I am wrong. Thank you very much for sharing the information.
So fascinating to learn about the denitrifying bacteria (convert nitrates from food) in the mouth, especially on the tongue, and their role in the production of nitric oxide. From her book: "Nitric oxide can enhance breathing and blood flow to the brain and heart, but it also has a mouth-health bonus, as it helps control periodontal pathogens and assists in the development of healthy gums around teeth." This is why tongue scraping can be harmful; she calls it a "scorched-earth tactic". It disturbs the delicate bacterial balance in the mouth, paving the way for the development of yeasts and aggressive mouth pathogens.
I bought some pH paper and find it super helpful to manage the acidity and how different foods affect acidity. What you measure you can manage!! Wish I knew these facts 60 years ago, but I’ve bought the “system “ for my kids and grandkids!!
It's so great you brought up nitrate vegetables like celery, beets, and green leafies. Fennel seeds also make a great nitrate snack. And these are some of the many plant foods that are cardio protective because of nitric oxide. So they're all around great for you!
I've had 0 cavities in my lifetime over 40 years, never flossed and brushed only in the morning and before social occasions (so generally 1x a day) and never before bed. As kids we ate 3 meals a day with no snacking, and as a young adult in uni I was poor so I ate 1 large meal a day generally. I tend to prefer eating 1 - 2 large meals a day and never understood how people could eat 3x plus then snack on top of that. My teeth are essentially perfect according to my dentists which I only see about 1x every 5 - 7 years on average. I have almost no plaque at all and it only shows up if I eat more often in a day (and it's only the bottom front teeth) and it goes away once I go back to eating 1-2x a day again. I also only drink water and sometimes milk. I drink things like soda/alcohol/tea maybe a couple times a year at social outings and that's it. I'm also have more of an appetite for savory foods/meats than I do for sugary things. I'd rather eat pizza and hotdogs over candy any day. With all this said, I have been following Dr Ellie's protocol for about 1 1/2 years now and I really like it. My breath is fresher especially in the morning and my teeth feel cleaner overall.
I tried fasting for a few months and found that my back teeth no longer hurt occasionally like before. It wasn't until I saw Dr Ellie’s video that I understood the principle. So I decided to continue to eat only one or two meals a day, and try not to drink water or eat snacks between meals. Now I am a little curious and have a question to ask you. Do I need to brush my teeth immediately after eating? If I brush my teeth, do I need to brush them again before going to bed at night? Because now I will rinse my mouth with water after eating or eat some foods recommended by the doctor to protect teeth. But sometimes I don't have these foods at home. Thank you!❤ (oh I also don’t really like sweet food and do not eat them often)
@@peacehappyb237 I also should add, I always rinsed my mouth out after brushing. A few years ago I heard that you "weren't supposed to rinse off the toothpaste" so I tried that for 12 months. I had more plaque on my teeth than ever before. It never made sense to me to brush and clean your teeth then to leave the debris there. With Dr. Ellie's Routine I still rinse after brushing but then do the Listerine and ACT (Opti-Rinse in Canada) after.
@@Olivia-hp6okHi! Dr Ellie do not recommends brushing the teeth after meals, but to take xylitol (if gum to chew 3-10 minutes, not more, if I remember well). After the xylitol to not drink or eat anything for at least one hour. Brushing the teeth with her recommended method only twice a day, in the morning and in the night. Regards from Greece!
QUESTION: My husband and I bought your mouth care system and love using it. I’m wondering if the black lines on my teeth (cavities starting) will disappear altogether? How do I know if the cavities are reversing?
Hi Dr. Ellie I truly believe in your system. I am a 62 year old beginner. I want to make your system work. My biggest goal is to grow back the gum recession. I did try your system for 6 months including all products and no flossing or rinsing. I will admit I did run out of gum for a week and also mouthwash for a week a couple of times. I just had a 6 month checkup. The hygenist said I was doing a "Good" job. She still did to a lot of typical scrapping to clean my teeth. I was hoping she would say wow your teeth are so clean you don't need a cleaning. Would you give me your opinion if I actually needed the cleaning and any advice. Also I was using the mouthwashes rather sparingly to save money. I will try to use the full amount. Also the dentist said I may need crowns over old fillings at some point. I do believe in your system. I know it may take time. Thank you!
Actually it should not take time- ensure you have the correct products - INCLUDING the correct MOUTHWATCHERS toothbrushes - and give your gums a good gum massage. The timing of the rinses is KEY....There is a free booklet at DrEllie.com
She says you can strengthen the remainder of the tooth all around the filling, which will allow the filling to last way, way longer, even up to a lifetime.
Yes - but try not to sip it for too long - as it will thin your protective, healing saliva. @dr.elliephillips thanks so much! I was so frustrated to realize my Dr Bronner's doesn't have xylitol. I did a chat gpt search to see what kind have toothpaste you might recommend and it returned to results. One of them had erythritol which I'm trying to stay away from, spry brand. It also said you might recommend closys, I don't remember why I didn't go with that. I ended up going with Tom's from Maine. I hope that was a good choice lol. It has xylitol at least 🙂

I wish xylitol would come in an unsweet version. I quit sugar and even all sweet tasting carbs plus grains, pasta, and breads seven years ago. Following the program for 8 months now, I have the occasional Zellie's to benefit my microbiome and it's so overwhelmingly sweet...like eating out of a sugar bag or guzzling maple syrup.
@@Private-C That's too bad. Maybe Dr.Ellie or some other brilliant dentist will come up with a beneficial product that isn't so sweet for those of us who've gone to a no/minimal sugar way of eating.
Hi Dr.Ellie , i noticed that some of your gum products contain citric acid and malic acid along with the xylitol and i was shocked . I wanted to ask you this , doesn't acid erode the tooth enamel and cause tooth decay? I wish you can please make a video about this and if acid is bad for our oral pH and teeth . Thank you for your videos🌷❤🌷
I just looked, and her page says the following: "We use a tiny amount of citric and malic acid in our Cool Fruit Mints to create the mouth-watering taste that makes them irresistible. Our citric and malic acid is derived from plant sources and is non-GMO." It also says "All the good stuff and none of the bad. That’s the Zellie’s promise of Pure Goodness." I believe you are thinking of other kinds of acids that damage teeth.
I found at Halloween to not divy out the treats because they were always buzzed, so let them cram as much in as possible was better, different reasons similar result.😁
Dr. Ellie - Kevin and I have been using your mouth care system for about two months now, and we are very pleased. I recently learned about the possible dangers of tartrazine (the Yellow #5 in Act Anticavity) and am concerned. What do you think about Tom's of Maine Fresh Mint Whole Care Mouthwash? It contains sodium fluoride (albeit only .02% vs Act's .05%), but no toxic ingredients.
Here is what Dr. Ellie said elsewhere in comments: "If alcohol killed all the bacteria in your mouth we should be terrified of wine and beer. If you think it is that alcohol "sterilizes" the mouth - then consider hand sanitizers - which need to be at LEAST 70-80% alcohol to be effective. Also they are to be used in a dry and clean environment. This is why, to be effective, you should wash your hands, apply sanitizer, and rub your hands until they are dry. In the mouth there is no dry place and no clean place - since the mouth is covered with biofilm. The alcohol content of Listerine is only 20-25% max...too dilute to cause bacterial damage. The study that made this claim POURED Listerine directly on cells in a laboratory petri dish. In the mouth a) Listerine is diluted by saliva b) cells are coated in saliva and c) there is a layer of biofilm everywhere in the mouth. Believe it or not, this study was done by a competitor mouthwash company with a similar essential oil products that did not contain alcohol. It is essential oils in Listerine which modulate bacteria - targeting only the round spherical ones that form/cause/ develop into plaque. Read the label and it says that it targets the bacteria that CAUSE plaque, gingivitis etc. It has no effect on periodontal bacteria, mature plaque and most of the other bacteria in the mouth. Moreover there are two groups of bacteria in the mouth - single cell floating in saliva and the ones meshed into biofilm. Listerine does not penetrate biofilm - so it can only target Strep Mutans when they are floating in saliva. Does this explain? You may like the new edition of my book Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye that will be in bookstores and on Amazon on Jan 28th 2025. You may want to send one to the person who told you that Listerine kills good and bad bacteria.....LOL!
Dr. Ellie, both myself and my husband are following your complete mouth care system and got great results, however the space between tooth gets stains. Would you please explain why and what can be done to prevent?
@dr.elliephillips many thanks dear Dr. Phillips. Would you please let us know the name of products which is equivalence of Closys and Act in Canada? Also do you have a preferred brand of Xylatol granular?
Hi Dr. Ellie.. I've been following your system for awhile but have heard about Listerine (even Original) killing off nitric acid producing bacteria. Would you mind reading this study and explain where they're going wrong?
Here is info Dr. Ellie has written in other comments regarding this: "If alcohol killed all the bacteria in your mouth we should be terrified of wine and beer. You may want to send one to the person who told you that Listerine kills good and bad bacteria.....LOL!" And also: "There are lots of studies about mouthwash that do not take into account the complexity of mouth bacteria. It’s not as simple as a statement like this. We make nitric oxide in our mouth and nitric oxide has an effect on blood pressure, particularly if you’re old and unhealthy. Young people create nitric oxide elsewhere in their bodies - but we lose this capacity as we age or if we have diabetes or chronic inflammatory conditions. Now nitric oxide is part of this equation because it helps to lower blood pressure, as I mentioned - and if its production is disrupted, then blood pressure can increase. This is why the elderly will rely more on the production of nitric oxide in their mouth more than a young person. Why does mouthwash reduce nitric oxide production? Lots of things reduce nitric oxide production. - a bad diet, too much sugar, an unhealthy mouth, and definitely having diabetes. Basically anything that upsets the balance of bacteria in your mouth, since nitric oxide is produced by a specific group of bacteria that are central to oral health. Do you see how complicated this is getting? The use of mouthwash, therefore, if you are old and have diabetes, may disable the production of nitric oxide for a couple of hours. This would potentially cause an increase in blood pressure - but there are lots of other factors, like the quality of your diet, smoking, and the health of your gums and mouth. To tell everybody that Listerine is going to raise their blood pressure, it’s totally inaccurate. To stop using Listerine because of an observational study in OBESE individuals whose gut health, periodontal health and diet was not reported, is to sensationalize a little bit of information that relates to a very small group of people. This is a new click bait tactic that has recently happened to science and it is occurring frequently these days, - creating a lot of confusion and disagreement - particularly among people who do not fully understand the complexity of the mouth bacteria and the way that they are organized."
What's your position on taking xylitol if you have a heart condition?l believe there are concerns about stroke and heart attacks with this product (xylitol)🇬🇧
That was a very flawed study in 2024 paid for by businessmen to discredit xylitol because they were interested in marketing a competing product. Dr. Ellie has addressed this issue in articles on her site and also made a video on here on that subject. Xylitol is still safe.
My 20 year old daughter has been using your complete mouth care system for about 3 weeks. Her teeth have become very sensitive. Will the sensitivity go away eventually?
Dr. Ellie answered someone's question above about sensitivity after starting the program with this info: "In most cases they are not using correct products. Or they are not practicing any "mouth resting"...the 2 hours after xylitol when you do not eat or drink anything. Some have chewed the gum for too long. 2-10 minutes max - followed by no eating or drinking - not even water. Severe tooth sensitivity = a nerve problem. You should have that tooth checked by an endodontist - and this would have nothing to do with my system. You likely have a filling or a crown that upset the tooth - sometimes this happened as long as 5-10 years ago." This commenter wrote back to her about 2 weeks later: "The sensitivity has now completely gone. I rested my teeth as you recommend and also stopped the Listerine for a few days. Pleased to be back on track." Sometimes people keep Listerine in the mouth for too long. The usual time is 30-45 seconds, but the rule on Listerine is really to only keep it in until it starts to feel hot, then spit it out. For some people, this may only be a few seconds at first until their mouth gets stronger and they can gradually work their way up longer.
I love your system! My teeth feel great already (just as after a cleaning at the dentist) after using it for only two weeks. Also they feel less sensitive. However, I asked myself what happens to the "decayed" dentin in a tooth with a deeper cavity when it starts healing? Will it eventually disappear and be replaced by healthy dentin?

Hello Dr. Ellie! Today I had cleaning with my dentist, and my question is - Should I follow all 4 steps( CloSys-Crest-Listerine-ACT) in the evening? Will it be OK for my teeth? Thank you very much for your help!
Yes - jump back in - but you may find you have to shorten up the Listerine and ACT steps if they feel unusually spicy. That is because the cleaning stripped away the biofilm protection of your teeth - it will come back in a few days - lots of mouth resting after xylitol helps.
Unrelated to the video - but since the products you regularly recommend isn't available in where I am from: how do you choose a good mouthwash in terms of ingredients? is the mouthwash needed on a daily basis? what about salt and water solution to substitute it?
Why don't you get started on xylitol first and do that for a while to see your improvements since you said you can't get any of the other products? Xylitol is really the most important one.
ACT Anticavity variety no longer caries the ADA seal, but the Cinnamon now does... Crest Anticavity now has changed to "Plus" and I'm wondering if anything has changed with that. Do you still recommend these items?
Crest Anticavity now has changed to "Plus" - I asked this question . Dr. Ellie replied that this is the paste as Crest without Plus. I compared ingredients in both pastes and the are the same.
Yes, these are still the correct products. Crest added the word "PLUS" to the package in 2024, and several products, including ACT, had that ADA seal removed in 2024 also, but Dr. Ellie said that seal really doesn't mean much, and it is mostly about $.
Hey Ellie, thank you so much for the information. I was wondering what you think about using a tongue scraper in the morning and night. Will this help oral health marginally? I find it certainly helps my mouth feel cleaner but not necessarily my teeth.
@@VeritatisQ If you use xylitol and my system of care your mouth should ALWAYS feel as if it was just cleaned - even first thing in the morning. It sounds like you may have a bacterial imbalance right now. DrEllie.com for more info about the system I recommend.
"If Listerine has a label stating that it removes 99.9% of germs from the whole mouth and also claims to help prevent gum problems, bad breath, and plaque, is it okay to use it? Also, suggest a combination to balance its acidity. Is it okay to use a toothpaste containing 0.02% sodium fluoride if 0.05% sodium fluoride is not available on Flipkart? What about fluoride-related issues if we use fluoride-containing toothpaste?" Please suggest similar products available on Flipkart. I haven’t had good delivery service to villages in India with Amazon.
The label on Listerine says "99.9% of germs that cause bad breath, plaque, and gingivitis". This does not mean 99.9% of all the mouth germs. She pointed this out in her total mouthcare video.
There is no substitute for Listerine. The rule is to vigorously swish with it only until it starts to feel hot and then spit it out. Usually this is 30-45 seconds, but for some people, this may be only a few seconds, which is OK, and you can gradually work your time up higher as your mouth gets stronger.
Dr. Ellie's approved list of products that will work does include the ACT kids' version in Bubble Gum. (And it just so happens that the Bubble Gum flavor is my go-to choice of ACT as it is my favorite!)
I've heard of parasites induced gum desease...I'm eating three times a day, xylitol after and I'm practicing Wim Hof method ( special breathing and cold exposure every day) to control my periadontal desease.
I just swish it around in my mouth for a couple of minutes and then I spit it out. Eating it seems to cause gas for me. Then as Dr Ellie suggests, I don't eat or drink for at least one hour after that.
Hi Dr., I don't know if you addressed this issue in one of your videos: 35 years of my life I've been eating proccessed foods and copious amounts of sweets per day and never had a cavity or a carrie, good genes am I right? Ofc that led to a sinus carcinoma and I had radiation treatment 3 years ago and now I have 4 caries although I am on a carnivore diet for almost one year. Would your mouth care system work for me in any way or am I just doomed?

I used xylitol chewingum yesterday today i wokeup and started brushing and realised my teeth have got black stains which were not there last morning what could be the reason . The stains somewhat looks like the ones you see on steel if reacts with acid .
Yes, as the other commenter said, it's dead plaque bacteria. As this was 2 months ago, did you get rid of it? Let me know if not, and I can send more info.
Dear Dr. Ellie, the ACT anticavity you recommend is unavailable in Europe at a decent price. Is there an alternative product you'd recommend? And/or can you tell us how to identify a suitable replacement? Thanks!
Hi Dr. Ellie, I've been using your mouth system and noticed that my lower gums where my bottom front teeth are, has red veiny streaks when I pull my lip down. Should I avoid massaging there and let my gums heal? I have gum disease. Also, after the listerine, my lower gumline has white lining around my teeth. What does that mean?
Crest toothpaste has changed its formulation? Is it the same? The regular paste now includes active fluoride - its says on the packet - sodium fluoride 0.243% (0.15% w/v fluoride ion). Is this ok to use? They call it Crest Plus, I can't get the original. (ref. your Complete Mouth Care System)
The one she recommends is Crest Cavity Protection. It's available on amazon. I contacted the company a couple of weeks ago to ask if the formula had been changed and I was told no, it has not. Sodium fluoride is the ingredient we need for the system to work. Dr Ellie has also said any basic toothpaste with the correct amount of sodium fluoride will do.
The Crest Cavity Protection Regular Paste always did include Sodium Fluoride 0.243%, and it still does. Crest just added that PLUS to the packaging in 2024, but it is still the same product.
Hi Dr. Ellie I’ve been doing the protocol and I’ve noticed dark gunk in the crevices of my molar teeth. During my brushing is it important to remove it during brushing or is it okay for it to stay there and just continue the protocol? They weren’t there before I started and I read that since our oral condition is rapidly improving
I too experienced black gunk around my molars after starting the complete mouth care system. In another video, Dr. Ellie explains that the black stuff is dead plaque. I kept brushing those areas and eventually the black stuff was gone. Good luck and hang in there with Dr. Ellie’s system!
I had the same issue with dark gunk around molar teeth, shortly after beginning the complete mouth care system. In another video, Dr. Ellie explains that the blackened areas are dead plaque. Keep brushing those areas and the plaque will eventually be eliminated.
Hi Dr Ellie, I followed your mouthcare system, but force to skip the closys mouthwash, is that having big affect? because at my country it is hard to get
That's not ideal, because one of the purposes of Closys is to neutralize the acid pH in the mouth before brushing. Brushing acid-softened teeth damages tooth enamel. As a last resort if you cannot get Closys, Dr. Ellie has suggested that you could try to find a neutral-pH (alkaline) water to swish with right before brushing.
Someone in another video asked Dr. Ellie about that product, and she said the following: "I do not recommend this product - but you can try it if you like. Of course there are people using all kinds of different products - some work and some do not. I have been recommending my specific system for over 40 years and have used it myself all these years, seen the results as a DDS - in the mouths of men and women, young and old - in my Mother's mouth and in my grandkids...at every age. I have never seen such an amazing turn around for oral health. My system works so I cannot recommend changing any of the "ingredients" - particularly if you have dental disease. Get rid of any dental problems you may have: reverse cavities and cure periodontal disease - and then (with a healthy mouth) you can do your own experimentation if you want to. That would be my advice." If it were me and I could not get Closys, I would try the alkaline water swishing instead.
Can’t find ACT mouthwash anywhere, they changed the bottle, and it doesn’t have ADA logo on it anymore . Love your protocol fir my gum situation. Please advise
They changed the bottle and may have to wait for the ADA certification to come...don't worry about it - I'm sure that it is the same liquid inside. 0.05% sodium fluoride
You weren't getting the really large sized bottle of ACT, were you? If so, it is the wrong one. They cut down the amount of Sodium Fluoride in that large 33.8 oz. bottle by over half! The 18 oz. bottles of ACT are the ones to get. (Like Dr. Ellie said, it should be 0.05% Sodium Fluoride.)

Dr Ellie, I started your brushing routine about 10 days ago. All seemed to be going well, but now my gums, in several areas, are bleeding when brushing. I am no longer flossing or using my water flosser. Just using the toothbrush you recommended and all the correct products. Is this something to be concerned about? Thanks.

I've been using the products for about 3 months now and my gums have receded back considerably. I can't touch my bottom teeth on the inside with a tooth brush anymore because they will gush out blood. My top left canine tooth now bleeds when I brush it and my healthiest teeth in the back and front teeth are now receding, i'm starting to develop a gap in between my 2 front teeth. I need help because I don't think i'm using these products correctly.
Xylitol is sugar! after I use your system, I do take your mint Xylitol, but it does not feel good taking a sweet mint after I brush and use your system. I been using your system 6 months and I still have a cavity on my root canal on my gum line and I doing everything you say and said.
PLEASE BE ADVISED. While this system works very well, in sensitive gut individuals xylitol will cause intestinal issues, inflammation, gas, bloating and digestive stress. It happened to me. I have sugar alcohol bowl intolerance.. I found this out years ago so I avoid it.. but thought this might be ok.. Now 6 weeks and sleepless nights with digestive spasms felt at night. Be advised. I'm looking for a mouth rinse instead.

Dr.Ellie please help! I have recently purchased your mouth care system and have been trying to get my friends and family to try it as well but after looking on your Amazon page it's saying to buy a completely different Closys mouthwash and the Listerine, both saying on the bottle for gum health but then watching your videos you say to stay away from everything that's not what YOU recommend! Have you changed your opinion on these other mouthwashes or is something not right!? 😢 Very confused please help.
This is now 2 months later after you left your message. Just for curiosity, I just now looked on there, and it's showing the correct products, not a different Closys or Listerine. Gum Health is not correct - you mentioned this, but it is not showing on there now. Maybe there was an issue at the time with their links or something?
Is it possible to follow Dr. Ellie’s Complete Mouthcare System without the Xylitol? I think I may be allergic. Anyone else have negative reactions to Xylitol?
Yes, lots of us! It's an ultra processed 'food'😢. I buy a 1k bag from supermarket (UK), and take 5-10g a day at intervals and, after swishing it round for a few seconds I spit it out.
I ear 5g maximum per day while to have any effect Zellie said at least a minimum of 3g per day. But the issue is that Zellies xylitol isn't available here while what available in mint or gum are some added don't good ingredients .😕 While using xylitol powerd, to be 100% sure to take only xylitol, on none of her video explain if is effective or not.🤷
Yes - the maximum amount of xylitol per day is 10 grams total. Dr. Ellie says you should get at least 6-7 grams total per day, but more than 10 grams will not do anything additional.
I just started your system and after 1 day my gums hurt, is this normal? all my life never brushed my gums so this was the first time. I brushed with an extra soft toothrbrush.
Is anyone else struggling to find ACT mouthwash with the ADA label all of a sudden? We tried purchasing from various places that usually have it, and Amazon has sent me ones without the label 3 times, even though I double checked they would have the label!
The new bottle has caused a change in the ADA seal - but I am sure it is only temporary.- the new bottle has a wavy edge and the product it contains is the same.
Dr. Ellie, I've been using your mouth care system for about 6 months now, and have seen a dramatic change for the better in my mouth health!! I recently took a short nutrition class, and they were saying mouthwash increases high blood pressure?? Unsure how that would be linked to mouthwash usage, but I'll never stop using your system. Have you heard anything like this? I think it's nonsense.

Some recent research suggests that Xylitol causes heart attacks and strokes. Apparently, participants were given 30 grams of Xylitol per day, which is excessive. What is your opinion on the subject please? I would love to hear what you have to say on the subject.
I know you didn’t ask for mine but here it is. We know what happens when people eat high amounts of sugar. Obesity, Insulin resistance, pre diabetes, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and the list goes on. Sugar is a multi billion dollar industry. With millions of people going keto and carnivore and probably millions more giving up processed food full of added sugar. I’m betting the last thing that industry wants is healthy alternatives. I say look to see who funded the study.
You pointed out that it’s excessive. I think there’s your answer. Too much of literally anything is bad for you. Even vitamins, water, and fiber, which are the most essential things we all need for our health.
Your argument about eating a lot of sugar at one time rather than spreading it out over time is compelling, but I suspect there are other metabolic processes that are not helped by eating a lot of sugar at one time...
@@ats89117 oh I so agree with sugar control - but it is sad to see people struggle to restrict sugar, and still be unsuccessful with the development of cavities. Understanding that it is not quantity but frequency is the message that I am trying to impart.

Just a thought to share:
I think we can skip closys if we take some xylitol mints or mints and wait for 20 minutes or so until the ph gets balanced, then use the toothpaste.
Thank you for the best information.... Could you please teach about tonsils stones ?
Thank you for all this info - this changed my point of view :)
I bought some pH paper and find it super helpful to manage the acidity and how different foods affect acidity. What you measure you can manage!! Wish I knew these facts 60 years ago, but I’ve bought the “system “ for my kids and grandkids!!
This video is eye-opening about sugar and our dental health.
My friend has your exact routine. Brush once a day and rarely eat sugar. He doesn't floss either. Perfect teeth.

Our citric and malic acid is derived from plant sources and is non-GMO." It also says "All the good stuff and none of the bad. That’s the Zellie’s promise of Pure Goodness." Any comment on a lawsuit against listerine and how it kills good bacteria in the mouth?
Here is what Dr. Ellie said elsewhere in comments:
"If alcohol killed all the bacteria in your mouth we should be terrified of wine and beer.
What's your position on taking xylitol if you have a heart condition?l believe there are concerns about stroke and heart attacks with this product (xylitol)🇬🇧
That was a very flawed study in 2024 paid for by businessmen to discredit xylitol because they were interested in marketing a competing product. Dr. Ellie has addressed this issue in articles on her site and also made a video on here on that subject. Xylitol is still safe.
On the system, just had my Zellies, going well!
I'm new here.. I have a question.. is oil pulling good?
Dr. Ellie does not recommend it.
My 20 year old daughter has been using your complete mouth care system for about 3 weeks. Her teeth have become very sensitive. Will the sensitivity go away eventually?
This happened to me. They became so sensitive and almost see through. I had to stop the protocol.
Dr. Ellie answered someone's question above about sensitivity after starting the program with this info:
"In most cases they are not using correct products.
You likely have a filling or a crown that upset the tooth - sometimes this happened as long as 5-10 years ago."
This commenter wrote back to her about 2 weeks later: "The sensitivity has now completely gone. I rested my teeth as you recommend and also stopped the Listerine for a few days. Pleased to be back on track."
Sometimes people keep Listerine in the mouth for too long. The usual time is 30-45 seconds, but the rule on Listerine is really to only keep it in until it starts to feel hot, then spit it out. For some people, this may only be a few seconds at first until their mouth gets stronger and they can gradually work their way up longer.

Hello Dr.
That is because the cleaning stripped away the biofilm protection of your teeth -
it will come back in a few days - lots of mouth resting after xylitol helps.
@@dr.elliephillips Dear Dr. Ellie! Thank you very much for your reply!
@@lululena8050 my pleasure. I am happy to help ! 🥰
Dr Ellie did you do a video about how to brush teeth corrrectly yet??
Yes there is. See on utube
Video #2 on her bootcamp is free to watch and demonstrates about brushing.
Are you including milk ss z sugar?
can we take xylitol as powder instead of gum ?
As long as it's 100% pure xylitol granules/crystals/powder. It also comes as xylitol mints.

What about fluoride-related issues if we use fluoride-containing toothpaste?"
Please suggest similar products available on Flipkart. I haven’t had good delivery service to villages in India with Amazon.
The label on Listerine says "99.9% of germs that cause bad breath, plaque, and gingivitis". This does not mean 99.9% of all the mouth germs. She pointed this out in her total mouthcare video.
Which mouthwash can I take Instead of Listerine? As it is too strong for my gums
There is no substitute for Listerine. The rule is to vigorously swish with it only until it starts to feel hot and then spit it out. Usually this is 30-45 seconds, but for some people, this may be only a few seconds, which is OK, and you can gradually work your time up higher as your mouth gets stronger.
Stopping sugar should solve your issue.
Not just sugar but also carbohydrates. The bacteria in your mouth turn carbs into sugar.
Not just sugar but also process starch or carbs.

Is it okay to use the ACT kids version in the program? that is the only one available in my country
Dr. Ellie's approved list of products that will work does include the ACT kids' version in Bubble Gum. (And it just so happens that the Bubble Gum flavor is my go-to choice of ACT as it is my favorite!)
Dr. Ellie, if I have front teeth veneers. What type of Listerine can I use? I hear the kind with alcohol is bad for my veneers.
I've heard of parasites induced gum desease...I'm eating three times a day, xylitol after and I'm practicing Wim Hof method ( special breathing and cold exposure every day) to control my periadontal desease.
Dr Ellie! Do xylitol mints and gums causes stroke and heart disease. I have heart ailment Can you discuss this for my peace of mind. Thank you.
I just swish it around in my mouth for a couple of minutes and then I spit it out. Eating it seems to cause gas for me. Then as Dr Ellie suggests, I don't eat or drink for at least one hour after that.
She discusses the issue and the bogus study on her previous video: Dr. Ellie Phillips Interviews Biomimetic Dentist Dr. Ameet.
Sugar and high carbohydrates cause the problems you speak of not xylitol mints.
Can i rinse or drink water immediately after eating sweet or immediately eat something which is not sweet?
Hi Dr., I don't know if you addressed this issue in one of your videos: 35 years of my life I've been eating proccessed foods and copious amounts of sweets per day and never had a cavity or a carrie, good genes am I right? Ofc that led to a sinus carcinoma and I had radiation treatment 3 years ago and now I have 4 caries although I am on a carnivore diet for almost one year. Would your mouth care system work for me in any way or am I just doomed?

how about drinking water with straw ? does it help ?
No, Dr. Ellie does not recommend straws because she says they just divert the liquid to flow over your back molars and then they get damaged instead.
I used xylitol chewingum yesterday today i wokeup and started brushing and realised my teeth have got black stains which were not there last morning what could be the reason . The stains somewhat looks like the ones you see on steel if reacts with acid .
Death plaque...watch her other videos...
Thanks!
Look for a mouthwash product with 0.05% Sodium Fluoride that is alcohol-free.
I ordered the correct closys from Amazon, but it is the one labeled sensitive mouth rinse I received can that one use.
They must have accidentally sent the wrong one; it should be the Ultra Sensitive (Unflavored)..
@@lorigraves760 Thank you ! I bought the recommended toothbrush it comes in today. Hopefully that expedites its removal.
@@SunrayStar is TheraBreath can do the job?
Someone in another video asked Dr. Ellie about that product, and she said the following:
"I do not recommend this product - but you can try it if you like.
That would be my advice."
If it were me and I could not get Closys, I would try the alkaline water swishing instead.
@ yeah, they sure made that bottle smaller 🙄
@@liliialogush739 Its still 18 fluid ounces - I think there's the same amount of liquid.

Thanks.
If your gums bleed - you need to be brushing them more vigorously.

Did you ever figure out where you needed to change what you were doing?
Xylitol is sugar! after I use your system, I do take your mint Xylitol, but it does not feel good taking a sweet mint after I brush and use your system. I been using your system 6 months and I still have a cavity on my root canal on my gum line and I doing everything you say and said.
Have you tried the cool mint?
PLEASE BE ADVISED. While this system works very well, in sensitive gut individuals xylitol will cause intestinal issues, inflammation, gas, bloating and digestive stress. It happened to me. I have sugar alcohol bowl intolerance.. I found this out years ago so I avoid it.. but thought this might be ok.. Now 6 weeks and sleepless nights with digestive spasms felt at night. Be advised. I'm looking for a mouth rinse instead.
I eat once a day brush more than needed. And use xylatol all day. And my perfect teeth since doing this programme have deteriorated fast!! 1500$ just this year in dental bills. Its bullshit!
Is there a maximum amount of xylitol that i should not exceed on a daily basis?
I ear 5g maximum per day while to have any effect Zellie said at least a minimum of 3g per day.
But the issue is that Zellies xylitol isn't available here while what available in mint or gum are some added don't good ingredients .😕
While using xylitol powerd, to be 100% sure to take only xylitol, on none of her video explain if is effective or not.🤷
All you need it for is your mouth. Get a toothpaste with xylitol. Thats all you need. Anything over that is just a company selling a product.
Sounds as if you have some wrong products.
How did you do your shopping for them?

Is anyone else struggling to find ACT mouthwash with the ADA label all of a sudden? We tried purchasing from various places that usually have it, and Amazon has sent me ones without the label 3 times, even though I double checked they would have the label!
The new bottle has caused a change in the ADA seal - but I am sure it is only temporary.- the new bottle has a wavy edge and the product it contains is the same.
@dr.elliephillips thank you so much!
Ya, but sugar is bad for our bodies in other ways.
Absolutely, many other ways!
Here is what Dr. Ellie wrote elsewhere in comments on this:
"There are lots of studies about mouthwash that do not take into account the complexity of mouth bacteria.
How many times a day can we use your total mouth care system?
2 times a day, AM and PM (about 12 hours apart from each other). She has said you could use it up to 3 times a day in the beginning if you have more severe issues and want to use it 3 times, but that isn't necessary.
Fluoride is a neurotoxin.
Sure, nobody tells you to swallow it :)
@@emcehyour skin absorbs it.
@@dontfit6380 very low amounts, as exposition is just few minutes and most of it rinsed after all so not able to become toxic. Our kidneys can proces 6-8 mg per day without visible health impact. You ingest way more fluoride by drinking tea or coffee.
@@emceh I’m going to assume the amount our bodies can process is the amount we would normally encounter in our daily foods and naturally occurring in water. The amount we put in our mouth and on our bodies from added sources. I believe exceeds what we should have. Now maybe you have the actual numbers that say otherwise but I have broken busted up teeth from years of drinking naturally occurring fluoride in the water along with fluoride tooth paste.

Not milligrams. Grams
You pointed out that it’s excessive. I think there’s your answer. Too much of literally anything is bad for you. Even vitamins, water, and fiber, which are the most essential things we all need for our health.
