    Thank you for making this video. We purchased a 2017 Genesis G90 last week and I was able to locate the update map via the Genesis website. For our model, you must save to a USB drive, I purchased a 64GB (32 is too small) 3.0 at Walmart for less than 10 dollars, it took almost 2 hrs to download the update to my hard drive, not sure how long it took to then save to USB. Once in vehicle and followed prompts, it took one and half hours with the vehicle running. It was a success, the map updated to version 32 from 21, along with other software updates. I thought we'd have to get updated at the dealership, but I was able to get it completed today. Very thankful for your video, you pointed me in the right direction. Keep up the good work. We are located in USA, state of Florida

    If you have a 32 GB SD card in your car already, you can use the same one. Backup what is on it first, format, then upload the new version to the SD card. Just finished doing the April 2021 update for my 2020 Kia Stinger. Didn't even know about the others. Turned on notifications at my account. Looking around for helps on how to USE the new software. Very different.

    Well, I own a 1st generation Genesis Prada 2013 technology and premium package, which was the last and the best version of Genesis Prada to ever exist with a naturally aspirated GDI engine. Yet they do not have an update for it. The lowest they currently have is the 2015 update. Please help me!

      According to the "Navigation Updater" program (USA/Canada), the 2018 Sportage has a "Standard-class Gen5 Navigation" system. The "Navigation Updater" program lists a USB device being used for the update on the screens where the update instructions are displayed, but the website page section for the "Standard-class Gen5 Navigation" states to use a 32 GB SD card. I cannot confirm which one is correct since I don't have that vehicle.
      According to the update.kia.com/US/EN/updateGuide/03?navi-id=stand_5th website the steps to update the "Standard-class Gen5 Navigation" system are:
      1) Ensure that the update files have been saved on the SD card. Connect the SD card tot he vehicle before starting the update.
      2) Select "All Menus" on the Home screen
      3) Select "Setup" on the "All Menus" screen
      4) Select "System Info" on the Setup screen
      5) Select "SW Info" and then "Update" on the "System Info" screen to proceed with the update

      I'm not sure if a different region's update will successfully install into your vehicle's radio head unit. The update function may look for specific files for the preconfigured region that the current software was intended for when installed at the factory. I've never tried it, so I really can't offer and informed advice on the topic.
      You may need to contact the vendor that distributes the update for the answer to your question or ask your local service department to see if they know the answer.

      The "Navigation Updater" program lists the type of media required to update the unit in the vehicle.
      2018 Stinger = SD Card (Gen5 Navigation)
      2019-2021 Stinger = SD Card (Gen5 Navigation)
      2022 Stinger = USB Device (Gen5W Navigation)

      I'm not aware of being able to change the region of the world with simply loading an update targeted for that new region. If the update process is not automatically picking up the update from the SD card, then I will not be able to suggest any alternative approach to force it to load. You might need to contact a Hyundai dealership where you're currently located to see if such an update is possible and if the GPS hardware in the Sonata is compatible with the GPS satellites for that region as well.

As long as the media (SD card or USB drive) was updated with the latest files for your unit, and you installed the update using that media (SD card or USB drive), it should be running the latest.

      Looking at the list of vehicles in the "Navigation Updater" app and on their website, it appears the 2015 Kia Sorento is not supported by the free download process.
      I did find via the www.mapnsoft.com/kia website where you can purchase a SD card with the updates for your Kia, it does list the 2014-2020 Kia Sorento as a valid vehicle for that approach. I don't know if that means the later model years in the "Navigation Updater" would actually work or not.
      If you go to the www.mapnsoft.com/kia website (you must create a user account to login), you can purchase an update for the 2015 Kia Sorento for $25 USD plus shipping. This is what I did for our 2017 Kia Soul several months ago (before the free update process was available for that car). I show that process in this video ua-cam.com/video/F7KmmLhUs_w/v-deo.html
      The version available for the 2015 Kia Sorento via the mapnsoft website is "2015 Kia Sorento Map Update 1412S3" and it was released on Nov 23, 2020.

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  3 роки тому

      The "Navigation Updater" and the mapnsoft website where you can order the update both show the 2020 Kia Forte as having a SD card for the media for the navigation system update. Some systems do use a USB drive for the update media, but the "Navigation Updater" will state that in the screen when you select the vehicle.
      The "Navigation Updater" states" "2020-21 Forte 4Door, Standard-class Gen5 Navigation, Portable Storage Device: SD Card"
      That suggests to me there is a SD memory card slot present in the unit. The USB connection is likely for music only. Often, there will be a rubber cover over the SD card slot.
      According to the 2020 Kia Forte "Car Multimedia Quick Reference Guide" and the 2020 Kia Forte "Navigation System User's Manual", there is a location with a rubber cover with "SD" on it someplace below the main screen of the unit.
      I suggest looking for the rubber cover with the "SD" printing on it and remove the cover and you should see where the SD card is located. Download the update again on 32 GB SD card (not the one in the unit now) and use that to update your navigation system.

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  3 роки тому +1

      I can't state what exactly each vehicle gets in the updates from Kia/MnSoft since it varies by vehicle make/model and the radio system in each vehicle. According the Navigation Updater application, the 2017 Kia Sportage has a "Standard-class Gen4 Navigation" system as does the 2017 Kia Soul Plus that I used in my videos. The 2017 Kia Soul does have CarPlay included in its functionality (even before being updated). If yours does not have that feature, the best I can suggest is to contact MnSoft to see if there is any update to enable it, but if it's not included in the files that are downloadable for your vehicle, I doubt that it would be available separately.

      @@RetroCarGuy530 I just chatted with mapnsoft and they are saying there was a software flaw with the nav unit in the 2013 Genesis and because of this, there is no update whatsoever. Just like the bluelink, another dead useless system.

      I don’t see that model on the list for North American vehicles from Kia. So, I don’t have the necessary information to answer your question.

    How can we get the European one?

      Based on my searching online, it appears the European map updates are only performed by Kia dealerships. I found one page that says a new Kia vehicle included six free annual navigation updates. I can only suggest to contact a local Kia dealership and see what they say it takes to get the update performed. I wish I could find a better/easier answer.

    Irrelevant for Australian vehicles - at least if you have a 2018 Cerato.

      I do not see a 2021 Kia Stonic in the list of vehicles available for an update via the free navigation updater program.

      I also don't see the Stonic listed in the mapnsoft website. www.mapnsoft.com/kia/.
