Dang I wish I saw this sooner. I went to Murrels mid July and took my Yak out to try my shot at flounder. Local shop at the marshwalk said to use live minnows. Got a few blue shell crabs nibbling and even netted, a few croakers, and 3 Skates (pretty sure they were rays). But no flounder. But tons of shrimp jumping all around, even a few nice ones landed in my kayak. Couldn’t tell if something was chasing them or they were just spooked when I paddled by
@@DeadCalmOutdoors I’ll try that next time. I loved seeing how you used the shrimp lure. That’s more what I’m accustomed to inland fishing. I live the NC mtns and fly fish more regularly, and would love try fly fishing the inlet one day. Thanks for the reply and the video!
Looks like you were out on sunday, about the only calm morning I saw all week, I was out on monday back to the 10-20 winds and with the stronger current from the king tide was horrible. My best bite was the new penny gulp with the chartruse tail, but nothing on on the plain new penny gulp without chartruse. next time ill be able to get out will be thurs 26th, ill look for you. Have you seen anyone catching any reds?
Good video man. Nice clear video. I need to make a trip down to Murrels inlet. If I put in at oyster landing rd. Will it need to be at least middle of the tide coming up?? Is it mud at dead low tide??
No it’s not mud at low tide. I have launched there for years and have never had a problem. The only landing you can launch from at low tide is Morse landing. Thanks Kdawg👊🏻
@@DeadCalmOutdoors thanks for the reassurance! Wanting to try some new spots. A place I put in off fort fisher nc you cannot put in or take out at low tide. You’ll be stuck and have to wait for the tide to rise!!
Wow I have never seen anyone catch flounder on artificial bait. My father in law has a house down there and I have yet to have any luck catch flounder. Might have to try the shrimp. How are you working it?
Hey Matt I appreciate you watching. The key is it has to be on the bottom. Then I’ll hop Hop and pause the bait until it settles back on to the bottom and repeat. Hope this helps
@@DeadCalmOutdoors basically like worm fishing for bass. I love to eat flounder but have never been a salt water fisherman but I can fish they way you are doing it. I mainly fish the little pee Dee in my Caiman boat.
Yep. Exactly. Flounder lay on the bottom and ambush their prey. Just wait for that hard bump…. Then give it a couple of seconds to make sure they have the bait and set the hook.💰
Great video as always, keep it up chris 👍
Thank you 🤙
Awesome as always brother. Always enjoy your videos and seeing gush caught in the same place I fish. Thank you br
Thanks. I really appreciate that 👊🏻
Looked like a lot of fun.
Yea it was a good day👊🏻

Reds are tough to come by in Murrells they seem to hold in specific areas. But once you find them it game on 👍
With that King Tide the last few nights, you could probably catch a flounder while eating at GiGi's Grill. LOL
👍

Been there. If you fish long enough you will get stuck
What tide chart are you using. I'll be down in a month and I am so ready... I made several colors to try out
I use smart fishing tides

Anyway a person could rent a fishing kayak?
Yes. Try Pawleys kayaks, Island Adventures or black water. They should be able to help you👍
