The other Erin Go Bragh that Hamish Imlach recorded is a different song entirely. It’s sometimes referred to as “the row in the town” and has completely different lyrics
@Jamie Marshall Both beautiful & brave. Great performance, Cousin. Best wishes from Ireland on St Patrick's Day 2021. The very best of Irish luck to you, sir 💚☘💚
Much appreciated. It's funny how these things work out. I was playing for about 4 hours this day and this just happened to be the song that I was about to play when the guy and his partner asked if they could film me. Glad you enjoyed it.
Very haunting cover. You have a bit of that old Muscle Shoals blues twang in your playing. Love it. If only my attempts to cover this could be even a half this good...
It's an old traditional song. My version uses the traditional lyrics but doesn't sound much like the melody as sung by anyone else - so you might have heard it sometime but I might have rendered it unrecognisable!
Hi Kev, good to hear from you - haven't seen many comments here on UA-cam - just discovering them now. Hope you're well - are you still making music? Some of the best recording sessions I ever did were in your living room! I have a new UA-cam channel for my own original stuff if you fancy checking it out - it's Slow Town Clock Music. Take care mate!

That, my man, is a great version. Most times I hear a different version it just makes me want to reach for "A Handful of Earth", but this is a new favourite in its own right. Would love to hear a studio version.
Thank you, I appreciate the thoughtful comment. This version has evolved over time from singing it for many years without listening to any other, more traditional, versions. I recently rediscovered Gaughan's version and realised I was singing a totally different tune - I love how he does it though. I guess this has basically become my own melody and guitar part with traditional lyrics. Glad you enjoyed it!
@@jamiesongbook Ah, no worries. I'd assumed some sort of link with Gaughan's version because he's the only person I'd heard pronounce the "Bragh" in that way before. However it evolved it's a great version!
There used to be some songs on this channel that are gone now. For example your cover of No Gods And Precious Few Heroes by Dick Gaughan. Did you take them down? I come back to your covers every now and then and was sad to see them gone. Been listening for years
Hi Jonathan, think a couple of the songs you're talking about are back up now. Songs may come and go from sight on here depending on how I'm feeling about them but they won't be permanently deleted and probably as my perspective changes most will resurface. Hopefully on my death bed I'll get the chance to just make everything public - all the most embarrassing, cringe-worthy videos from over the years available for everyone to add abusive comments to, forever.
Nah the guy in the song Duncan Campbell says he calls himself erin-go-bragh so he's referring to himself. Also it's Alba gu bràth since it would be in scottish gaelic not irish
I do agree but the guy in the song is a Scottish Irish and fled Ireland to his home Country and going to the Highlands where Irish and Scottish people are safe for the most part. Which is weird cause he’s a canbell
@@loganparker180 No he is not Scottish irish. Listen to the words. He comes frae Argyll. The Edinburgh polis thought he was irish he literally tells him he is not.
Brilliant......as always. The old girl is just too sweet for words....
Beautiful and sweet voice!
A Dick Gaughan protoge, not an easy feat. Brilliant, maybe even better than ol' Dick. Kudos to Jamie. Thanks for posting this.
This is good
Outstanding!
Thats savage celtic brother.
Best cover of this song I have heard - Well done mate!
Beautiful traditional folk. The lady at 1 min is totally captivated!
No wonder 😊
It’s a great version
What a really cool version
Always thought is was an Irish song! Same language family of course. Beautiful version I must say, extraordinary!! 🇳🇱🤝🇮🇪🏴
There is an Irish version too. Hamish Imlach sang it.

Amazing song my friend! Proud to have Scottish blood
Thank you - it's a great old song.
I love this version , thank you
And the auld woman standing there listening brought a smile and a tear tae ma eye
Thank you - aye, she's lovely!
Loved this.....well done Jamie
wonderful, never heard that song before.

very nice man
love this tune. I love the idea of someone being mistaken for an immigrant, saying "so what if I was" and smashing a polis head in with a cudgel
This comment made me laugh. Duncan Campbell doesn't mess about, eh?

In Ireland we sing The same song but different lyrics
Love Erin go bragh! Excellent rendition! Could use more emotion in the vocal delivery though. Lovely.
It does sound a little bit like american alt country folk

Chrissy Moore sang about the cockle pickers of morecambe bay 🏴👍❤
I am a long term dick Gaughan fan, but yes this is the best version, the one I go to 😳 please keep this coming mate! 💪
Wouldnt it be "Alba go bragh"?

Excellent!!! Anyone know what tuning he is playing in? Drop D?
Sounds great :D what tuning are you playing this in?
God bless the red auld wifey 🏴xxx
Irish song not Scottish
Hmmmmmm
An Irish song about a Scotsman in Scotland. There, now we can all share it!!
Eirrin is LITRERALLY Gaelic for Ireland.
Read a god damn book.
