So, I bought a Grader with a UD-14A engine, the starter was missing. I figured out a starter from a Military M35A2 Deuce and a half Multifuel engine has a 12 tooth bendix and I just needed to clock the nosecone so the solenoid is vertical. Works great! The only drawback for some of the smaller machines with this engine is it is 24VDC.
My Aunt and Uncle had a plastic UD-18 cigarette dispenser from the late 50's or early 60's. (Edit - I guess it was an UD-24. Salesman's display) You would spin the belt pulley on the back to roll out a cigarette from the engine container. You could lift the hood off to refill the holder. It did not make a cigarette. Only dispensed them. It was pristine. They did not smoke. I have no idea what happened to it.
Man I wish we could see the old mill running. Bet that was a real sight! Does the ud18 run? A startup video would be awesome! Those gas start diesels are fascinating to me
@@squatch253 I'm working on a UD-18 right now, trying to get it unstuck after sitting for 40 years. Would love to see your experiences. Also I have a UD-14a in an Austin Western 99H, so a parts motor is tempting. Is your motor a UD-14 or 14a?
A buddy of mine has an old Austin Western road grader perhaps a model H? With I believe a D 14. Solid engines!Seems like a heck of a good deal to me! Best wishes to all :)
Hope Senior can find a good home for all the stuff he's sending on, would be a shame if they didn't. This brings into focus that i have to liquidate some of my old projects too. Sentimental stuff's stuck with me for the rest of my life, on account of my Aphantasia, and that without them i'd forget old friends and family, but like all troublemakers in the shop, i've bitten more than i can chew and videos like these give me perspective.
Have only ever seen a couple of tractors with that engine over here 🏴 and i was gobsmacked at how little money Squatch senior wants for it 😮 a great bargain for someone i would say 👌
Looks like the same engine as the wd6 but it could be the same as the wd9 the MDcand and 400 diesel also have a similar set up and look like that. I have a WD6 here and spent some time around the 400s
Excellent video that is fair enough price for the old power unit engine. Does senior have any Tee shaped extra sawmill guide rail it's about 2.75 inch wide and then a like a 3/8" x 1/2" rib standing off of the center of the track it looks like a A series v belt laying on it's back with the v pointed up
If senior needs something to fill the empty space or anyone else, got a Hobart generator/welder powered with a 6 cylinder Chrysler flathead on a WW2 era jeep frame. Had running and welding. As long as were finding homes for stuff...
Did you get any takers? Say hello to Senior for me and Monica. Looks like we will be making our Rollag debut in September! Will you and Senior be there?
Hello, please tell me what state you live in. Do you have any old Ferguson to20 or to30 parts or parts tractors? I'm also looking for an old one or two ton truck from the late forties up into the middle 60s Chevy Chevrolet Ford studebaker Mercury Dodge international the're all my friends. Thanks Bob from Virginia USA
@@squatch253 There is no doubt. I think the price is right. Any off grid homesteader would love to have a power unit like that, to run pumps and generators.
I think you should speak for yourself, and otherwise just keep your mouth shut. I enjoy watching this old stuff being put into working order and one thing you should know is that diesel engines are hard to kill.
It would be very interesting if you could use one of your stationary engines to power your rock crusher!

Pretty cool power unit. Hopefully someone can get it back up and running. Thanks Toby

Idk I think there’s a couple possible videos finding the problem and then maybe getting it running again
I think you should make one of those viral will it start videos on the UD18.

Happy Father’s Day…senior
I just wish you weren't so dang far away. An IH power unit is high up on my wish list, but they are all so far away from NC.
Not really that far. Couple years back I went from SC to Michigan to get a 4-cylinder Perkins Diesel. It had parts I needed and wanted.
@@joehovanec1985 the need makes a big difference for sure!
Dang, if I weren't in Colorado I'd just come get it, long trip though, like I say if I were closer I'd come snag that old girl up
Does anyone know of anyone covering Red Power Roundup as it’s the Centennial and just finished?
