I really appreciate you telling us your total time of two weeks; you are correct in that the sped up video makes a person think the amount of time is less.
Wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed this video. I also went back and reviewed your video about powder blender, and it was so refreshing to just see you working without the extra chatter. This is my plea to do more videos like you have in the past where you aren't doing an art chat. I only work in colored pencil, and am trying to learn PanPastel. Therefore, I only watch the videos with those subjects. The ones with the art chats are sooo long and so many people are asking questions that have nothing to do with what you're working on that I've stopped watching them. I'm sure I'm not the only follower who feels this way. Hoping you will do more just instructional videos in the future.
Oh dear, I thought I had most Derwent pencils but after watching your video I ordered 72 Lightfast Pencils. Good use of my Christmas gift cards. Beautiful work and great tips.
Hi I love the derwent Lightfast colored pencils. I fetched some sofar. I love the blues, greens, greys, purples ,whites and blacks I love the Mars black ( warm black) and the midnight black(cool black). Most colored pencils only have the basic manufacturer black which is good. I Also love the blacks in the derwent intense that make antique white,( warm white), Chinese ink (cool black)and Indian ink(warm black).I love the Chinese white too. Thanks so much.
Love this piece! I have poor eyesight and at first glance I thought you did a surrealistic piece of the octopus crawling over space clouds with deep space in the background. After further inspection (with my glasses on); I realized what was really going on in the picture! This is one of my favorites of yours. 🙂
Wow, this is great. Getting back into pencil art after a long break, and I see you are still making awesome videos. Thank you so much for what you do! You are so talented and very much appreciated. 🙂
I have 24 of these pencils, bought directly from derwent in their "pick your own colours" option, and they're amazing! Only slight concern is that a couple of them have very slightly misaligned casings making the wood split a bit when sharpening. The colour range is possibly the best out of all the different pencil sets you can buy, at least for me! Yet another beautiful drawing btw, I almost forgot to say this as I take it for granted now! My bad!
I absolutely love the lightfast pencils! I can't imagine having to work without them ever again. They are also in my top three favorites. Although I like some of the specialized colors in the luminance line I'm not nearly as impressed with them.
Just when I think I am really slow finishing a piece you remind me that it's normal for art to take awhile! I love this guy, is this another one for hubby?
Yep, I did this one with the intent to give it to him before I started. I figured he would have claimed it anyway, I might as well start out saying it's for him and call it a present LOL.
This is gorgeous Lisa! I want to "blend away my laziness" too lol! I haven't tried the lightfast pencils but plan to purchase a few of the pinks, reds and violets. I bought all of the brush and pencil products on your recommendation and really like them. The touch up texture and titanium white I use quite a bit now that I have it rather than a gel pen. I really love the texture fixative too. Do you know if you "should" rewet and use the titanium white/touch up texture mix after it dries? I made too much the other day and it dried out so I tweet it and it became liquid again. I wasn't sure if maybe it didnt mix it well to begin with bug anyway I used it and it seemed fine but as i write this i wonder if maybe i didnt use enough of the touch up texture to make a stable mix. Thoughts?
The range you want to get is beautiful! My favorites are Heather (duh!) and nightshade (a favorite of Lisa too). I am glad you started using the touch up goodies, I saw it in your recent video!
Great question! No, don't re-wet the touchup texture/titanium white mixture with water. It will cause it to no longer be archival on top of the colored pencils. It dries super fast so I just mix small amounts. :D
@Lachri Fine Art You said that Titanium White is the only archival white you can put on coloured pencil drawings. I was wondering if you know anything about Derwent's Paint Pens. I was looking on their website and it said their paint pens (which I think are relatively new) are lightfast, and I was wondering if they would be usable. From what I can tell, they are similar to Posca pens, but I have no idea if they are archival or not.
I remember a video where you mentioned you kept all you lightfast pencils across all brands in one place. Can you give me a ballpark on how many had the best lightfastness? I am going to get a really big pencil case for only the non faders so i can use them confidently.
Hi Lisa, awesome drawing. How come you don't have more of these kind of videos? I don't have the time to watch your live. Thank you for sharing this video.
I used to produce one of these a week but after my move the noise from the construction workers across the street has made it really hard to get the editing done. Luckily they finished the two houses directly across from me and have only one more to the side of that. That one should be done within a couple of months then hopefully I can be more consistent with uploading this type of video. I will keep trying to get them done when the construction workers are quieter though in the meantime :D
Yes, I love them too. I bought the set and use them with the Luminance ones to create shell collages. I’ve seen others mention you can use the Museum Aquarelle white over the oil/wax for white detail lines (not using water). How do you feel about this?
Waaoow these are extremely delicious colors. Would u plz like to tell us that wasnt the colors became black n muddy when youve applied mineral spirit on them? In my case, it becomes muddy. Is there any tips for us to keep in mind? Because some people shows it to blend only on 1 layer?
Great demo 🤩 OMG I already have so many colored pencils 😅 bit really feel the nedd to buy these 🙈 we will see... do you know the pablos? For me they are my actual favorite ones
I've watched this video 3 times already and still don't understand what to do with my derwent lightfast pencils... It's so hard to start with a new medium.
Yey a speed tutorial. I so don’t have the patience for live stream. Anywho, I would love to watch you do a pan pastels and colour pencil on normal paper, and see the results. Alas I’m allergic to sanded paper so cannot use that.
@@RichardM-kv4uu Hi. I have watched the live streams, as with all i have watched, not just Lisa, i find them tedious and repetitive, they just do not interest me. Its just me i guess as a lot of people do like them. Sorry.
@Monica Taylor Its funny you mention that, I bought some pastel mat and am working on my first attempt on it. In hindsight I should have used more pastel before starting the pencils. Its ever a learning process. Thank you x
Hi Lisa. Am I missing a trick on patron for finding a specific video? I clicked on acrylic paintings and then did a search but it didn't work for me. Any tips? Thx for all your great painting advice!
Lachri, as someone from Canada, I cannot ever seem to order from Brushandpencil. Is it possible to get those products another way? would love to use those on my Lightfast set :)
Now lisa....you just were instrumental in me buying quite a LOT of pencils.....so now dont ruin it by telling me i missed some! Hee....oh how i love my new luminance pencils! Geeez life is good.

You have a very great skill. Thank you for inspiring me to create art work
An amazing piece Lisa!! I smiled at the word 'tedious' until you mentioned '2 weeks' then it became manageable. He's gorgeous. TFS!!

Thanks!!

I am sure if you contact Derwent they would fix the issues!
I agree with Heather, contact Derwent. They take their quality control seriously and have been great fixing any issues people have had :)
@@Lachri Thanks for taking the time to reply, I'll see what Derwent have to say, but most of the pencils are fine - hopefully it's just a glitch!

Awesome piece, Lisa! I love the aqua color highlight around the Octopus, it makes it glow! Love it 😍
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow. So much detail. Thanks for the extra tips on the mineral spirits. I will try using it more then once between layers.

I love Derwent Lightfast, I use them and Polychromos but I definitely prefer Derwent. I have just ordered 2 luminance to try too 😁
I have some of the Derwent Lightfast and love them!
Can you please show us on how to draw a wolf with Derwent inktense pencils. I struggle with the eyes and fur.

Hi Lisa! Can you please review the Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils? Could use some tips to render them both dry ans wet.
Thank you!
SIMPLY AMAZING!

The only way it would become muddy would be if you're smudging the dark colors over the light. Blend them separately :)
Beautiful!💙💙

So do you offer only reference photos or sketch outlines too on patreon ???
Love your sea paintings. What size paper do you usually work on? Purchasing luminance this month. Light-fast next month. Yay.
8x10, 11x14 and 16x20 are my normal colored pencil sizes :)
Am I just not seeing it or is there no link to the acid free masking tape you are using?
Hello for you, is Derwent lightfast better than polychromos?
Great! 😀
Thanks! 😃

Awesome octopus! I've always wanted to draw one, but not sure where to find a good royalty photo I like yet, and my own photos aren't all good.
I have always had the same issue. This was the first royalty free one I found that I really liked :D
