I just never could have left 1 of my children, however this was an even earlier time when it was much harder for women alone trying to find decent work! Was a single parent on the streets young! Right at first I did consider finding a good home for adoption. I worked hard to take good care of mine & have dealt with & counseled the after effects of abused & neglected children! Emotional abuse/ neglect alone is extremely destructive to their development! I didn't have a lot of options, but a lot of good people stepped up! Gave me work I could do with him, safe places to stay, etc! We didn't have much, but a huge difference is made when you teach that you won't leave or forsake them! 40 yrs later he is my & my Mom's caregiver! And so worth the good & bad days that got us here! I wouldn't have changed a thing, though with his adhd there were some doozies! Lol Very good movie showing you never know where you will find kindness! So much unnecessary damage to a small boys fragile heart because the Grandfather can't find forgiveness! Powerful message! Thank you for sharing! Love the ending!

I can't put a dislike, but what a horrible story. What a disgusting person the father. Evil people like that don't make it all right in the end, like in the film. They are much worse than that, they don't have a latent goodness and love that just waits to be released or was there before. Evil people are evil and they don't change. And no I'm not talking about someone who kills and steals... I'm talking about people who can choose love but choose to have no empathy or compassion. Those people ruin lives more than the occasional assassin because there are plenty of them and they are relentless and they accompany you from the moment you are born for the rest of your life if you let them. In real life, there is no happy ending like in this movie.

    • @crystaltaylor8241

Marta Mariotto You sound like you are a very unhappy person. Yes, there are evil people in the world, but regardless your lot in life, there IS hope. And that hope is in Jesus Christ. He is there waiting for you to ask Him into your heart and life....to accept His free gift of eternal life. I can tell you, He can make this life a joy to live and a home in Heaven to look forward to. I will pray that you find your way to a personal relationship with Him. I would be happy to tell you how you can turn your life around and know peace and hope in Him. If you want, you can get in touch with me at cmtspam@yahoo.com. God bless.

They had to make a person angry, sad, evil and all the other negatives in order to make the miraculous change and final outcome a warm blessing. It's a DRAMA movie.

    • @pilarquiroz3585
      @pilarquiroz3585 2 роки тому +1

I think the father was not completely evil. He loved that little boy, didn't he? He was able of sweet tenderness towards him. He was able to teach him right from wrong. ( Remember when he spoils him being all the clothes but...insists on he rescue the airplane himself).
      .
He was just extremely hurt for all the love he gave her daughter and how ungratefully she run away. That's not a father's dream. Also...she comes back for interest; not for love for her father.
      .
I think these stories are good to excite conversation and reflection on people. On parents to guide their children and to read again the parabol of the prodigal son. To some parentis harder to forgive that to others.
      .
I cannot but wonder ....had she come humble, sweet, repented, asking for forgiveness (like at the end) and made herself forgiven.......
      .
Nobody thought on the poor little boy's heart and abandonment issues.
      .
But...it's a story. We learn from other people's stories. That's the point!.

This is a "Pre Code" Movie - HISTORICAL
Pre-Code Hollywood refers to the brief era in the American film industry between the introduction of sound pictures in 1929[1] and the enforcement of the Motion Picture Production Code censorship guidelines, popularly known as the "Hays Code", in mid-1934. Although the Code was adopted in 1930, oversight was poor and it did not become rigorously enforced until July 1, 1934, with the establishment of the Production Code Administration (PCA). Before that date, movie content was restricted more by local laws, negotiations between the Studio Relations Committee (SRC) and the major studios, and popular opinion, than strict adherence to the Hays Code, which was often ignored by Hollywood filmmakers.
As a result, films in the late 1920s and early 1930s included depictions of sexual innuendo, miscegenation, profanity, illegal drug use, promiscuity, prostitution, infidelity, abortion, intense violence, and homosexuality. Strong female characters were ubiquitous in such pre-Code films as Female, Baby Face, and Red-Headed Woman. Gangsters in films like The Public Enemy, Little Caesar, and Scarface were seen by many as heroic rather than evil. Along with featuring stronger female characters, films examined female subject matters that would not be revisited until decades later in US films. Nefarious characters were seen to profit from their deeds, in some cases without significant repercussions, and drug use was a topic of several films. Many of Hollywood's biggest stars such as Clark Gable, Barbara Stanwyck, Joan Blondell and Edward G. Robinson got their start in the era. Other stars who excelled during this period, however, like Ruth Chatterton (who decamped to England) and Warren William (the so-called "king of Pre-Code", who died in 1948), would wind up essentially forgotten by the general public within a generation.[2]
Beginning in late 1933 and escalating throughout the first half of 1934, American Roman Catholics launched a campaign against what they deemed the immorality of American cinema. This, plus a potential government takeover of film censorship and social research seeming to indicate that movies which were seen to be immoral could promote bad behavior, was enough pressure to force the studios to capitulate to greater oversight.

Thanks, Chrome - great history re-cap for those not knowing. There were also classy, lovely pre-code films - mysteries, comedies - the only thing "bad' about those movies were the lovely, elegant silk dresses, etc the women wore WITHOUT BRAS. I love that look, but wouldn't wear it in public these days - even with all the revolting, revealing outfits the Hollywood females wear - so tacky they are, in my humble opinion! cheers

I didn't know the day would come when people forget what static is. XD

Clarity of the images came ahead of clarity of sound. Compare many of the early 30s movies/sounds with those of late 30s and 40s.

People were hungry - even desperate-- for anything that would make them feel good from late 1929 through the mid-30s.

I see some parallels with families split over Trump. Imagine grandparents denied seeing their grandchildren because they voted for Trump. Parents, don't worship your children. It is very painful when you work hard to raise them and they turn on you and become WOKE. U.S.A. R.I.P.
