Developers were more talented in the past. Nowadays they can't make a Tetris game without 1000 RAM and 500 teraflops to work with. As a result, games nowadays take like 5-10+ years to make and all we get from them is that they're super-heavy on data. Some games are triple digit in GB and yet they're not much bigger in terms of gameplay and content as earlier ones from the same series.
I never want to hear about how useless Sypha is ever again. This was actually my introduction to CV3, and even I had heard about how Sypha was practically useless, ESPECIALLY because of her basic attack. But this shows that those delicous quick attacks and stun-locks can be a lifesaver. Excellent playthrough, I come back to this every year.
I've just finished this game 1st time in my life. Never read anything about it, never watched any vids and didn't use any kind of guide. I basically used Sypha through the entire game and from the moment I unlocked her i knew she is strong as fuck. Even her basic attack helped me a lot because i didn't have to worry about aiming at enemies with shitty whip.
my beloved CASTLEVANIA 3 !! thank you for this one Mike k is a good Castlev-player you guys may like to check the roleplay series i doing in tribute to Trevor Belmont in Bloodoborne, also just started a new one in dark souls remastered doing a Sypha build so yeah i adore this legendary epic beautiful game of the NES era along with Simon's Quest
It takes too long to switch characters, but it is possible to just stay as Sypha and do the walk. It doesn't generally save time because of the animation to freeze the water, so it's quicker to just hop through the water... unless you get a random item drop though :/
I actually suppose they're using Emulators for these Events as they're more flexible, fast and better to scale for big resolutions like those they need for public presentation.
CV3 is emulated perfectly with no graphical change(unlike SMB, where it looks like the PAL version, but it's the NTSC version), and then your words come in handy. Easy to record, also.
Runner introduction starts at 00:32. Run starts at 00:47.
Sad that GDQ cares more for Castlevania than Konami does anymore...
It's amazing what Konami was able to do with the NES hardware. I think this is one of the best looking games ever made for this console.
It is.
Just wait till he finds about the Japanese VRC6 chipp

Truly. Creativity shines brightest within limitations.
This and SMB3 for sure

bruh sypha is overpowered if you get orbs or freeze spell

"Uh-oh.....we'll be fine."
Best line of commentary ever because he answered the question that everybody was asking.
that first stage song is still a banger
hands down the best nes castlevania game
Easily.
Just a minor correction re: damage, Alucard unlike the other two characters takes the same amount of damage as Trevor.
What up with SGDQ2018 having so many epic runs! Much love yet again to Puwexil!
I just realized that the timer background is a binary clock!
**SO** surreal to hear my donation read aloud, especially by my favorite announcer!!! Thanks for letting it through, staff and Prolix.
Watching here because
Nicely done, esp with the randomness!
Glad you went back and got the Ice again, way to go.
You guys should do a Bloodstained Curse of the Moon run next, that game is so good.
"you guys" what do you think GDQ is? LOL
Watching these replays is the joint. I never even played Castlevania 3, but this makes me happy all the same.
It's a really fun game, but it's also really difficult.
Awesome run!
Awesome run.
This is a great run
I am a simple man. Every time GDQ runs a Castlevania game, I donate.
I couldn’t beat 1 of my life depended on it. Good shit
that's a good run

He gave Medusa the ol
Hi jack. Bye jack.
🧊🧊🧊🩸🩸🩸ed
Great run
Nice run
Clutch death kill at 25:00
Redeemed himself
Did anyone notice that when you hit Dracula's final form, it makes the same sound effect from Goonies II?
1 year later, but yeah, I played both games and noticed it.
Yes, it's such a distinct sound effect!
I still think this is one of the hardest one of the nes trilogy
Indeed, also the best.
Its level design also gets extremely cheap later on.
It's really, really, difficult, but by no means impossible.
Why not freeze the water in the aqueduct with Sypha at 16:00 and just walk over it with Trevor?

Michael Klipper Cool, seems reasonable.
I want a castlevania 64 run!
Why is he using a SNES controller?

Where's my homie funkdock?
This game soundtrack sucks.
So does yr mum
@@ChicCanyon original japanese soundtrack for CV3 is absolute masterpiece, but it has been turned to shit in NA version.
@Elvick Because NES couldn't handle the sound chip that japanese version used.
nice job, i love this run
