  • Tutorial on CCS (2018 version): CCS is a set of technologies that allows the sustainable use of fossil fuel by cutting by over 90% their emission of carbon dioxide. Three are the most known technologies for capturing CO2: post-combustion, pre-combustion and oxy-fuel combustion.

    The possibility of leakage is huge under/after CO2 deposition. Think about earthquakes, fault in processes, etc. I think these technologies are not final solutions, they move the problem to the future. It's time to replace the use of oil and its derivatives.

      Yes, but what do you pretend to do with the CO2 that is already in the atmosphere? Let it be?

      CCS for use in Carbon Concrete is the way to go. Check out what Blue Planet is doing--while mimicing Earths own Carbon storage practices!! THATS Sustainability.

      Well, supercritical CO2 is a great industrial solvent, plus dry ice has it's uses as a great cold-sink in various processes. Storage is an option, but I think it's a lot better to think of CO2's use in industry rather than as a waste product. And even if it eventually makes it's way back into the atmosphere or into the ground, at least we made use of it and made some reduction in the short-term emissions. I think it's better than venting CO2 into the atmosphere directly like we are now. Eventually we will transition to completely renewable, but while that's happening, we may as well make fossil fuels more environmentally friendly through processes like these.

      @@magalhaes753951 There is something called direct air CO2 carbon capture. I think it uses the same solvent to absorb the CO2 but the process is a little different.

    Is the absorber tower sprinkling solvent or is it just a tank of solvent that the flue gas bubbles through? @4:13

    There is no such thing as "sustainable use of Fossil fuels" as no matter how efficiently you use them, they will still run out.

    • @nathanielthomas4437
      @nathanielthomas4437 2 роки тому

      Well, we certainly are not going to run out in our lifetimes, so if we can make a process that makes use of them with nearly no environmental impact, I think that's better than doing nothing about it at all. Not to mention, there are renewable carbon-based fuels, such as bio-fuels and plain old wood. Those can also be used in this process. Renewables are great, but this is also a good way to reduce our CO2 emissions while we are transitioning.

      @@nathanielthomas4437 In theory if we compare world oil reserves with current consumption we are bound to run out of it withint 30 to 40 years, and that's if we consider that we don't change anything.
      Question is, will we increase demand and shorten this expected lifespan even faster? Or will we reduce it through cleaner energy?

    Selagi emisi gas carbon dioxide masih bisa diserap oleh tumbuhan gas ini akan hilang dengan berubah bentuk sebab kecepatan tumbuhan mereduksi gas tersebut juga bisa meningkat signifikan jika kapasitas quary berlebihanmaka tumbuhan membentuk sel sel jaringan juga melonjak secara signifikan juga . Molekul gas ini masih tergolong dalam struktur molekul golongan lantanida jadi tanaman aman dalam mengadsorbsinya lain nika masuk dalam golongan aktinida. Berarti tidak masalah mungkin hanya nampak unsur karbon yang sudàh pecah dari carb9n dioxide yang berhamburan di udara sebelum berhasil jatuh ketanah
