Knicks has not had an impactful player like Ewing since he left NY. Those were the good days. Miss ya big fella. Thank you for the heart and soul you represented for us. Respect to the Hoya Destroya.

Patrick Ewing was an under appreciated star. Dude, carried the Knicks franchise for years since management was inept at drafting good talent.

@@ariesballesteros5881 Unfortunately, not only the Knicks, but the Cavs, and later during the 2nd Bulls 3-Peat, the Magic, the Heat, and the Pacers who came the closest in knocking off the Bulls, taking them to 7 games in the 98 Eastern Conference Finals, just came around the wrong time M.J., Scottie, and the Bulls were at their peak. Just goes to show how great the East was back then.

Yeah his roar from the Patrick Chewing commercial was an authentic in-game sound he made.😂 He was the hardest dunker until Shaq came along. Shaq said himself that he patterned his game after Ewing.

@@eddiewallace3362 there was a dunk somewhere around 1996-1997 (small chance it was in 95) that i've never seen again. saw it on sports center. a transition type play i believe, ewing may have been out ahead i'm not totally sure if there was a defender or not, but the main thing was ewing turned and jumped backwards from decently far out, like the mid point of the key on the edge, and fell backwards through the air with his arms strait up for a two hand reverse dunk seeming to not be even looking at the rim. the next day my friends and i joked about it on the court. you just don't see dunks like that ever, and especially strange looking with a man his size. i've looked for it every few years without luck.
if it helps find the dunk i'll add from television perspective, ewing dunked on the left hand side basket and jumped from the bottom half of the key.

@@smithcs790 I think the dunk you're talking about with Ewing dunking backwards from afar was against the Dallas Mavericks during the 1996-97 season. I remembered seeing the highlights cause the Knicks were blowing out the Mavericks and it was the Knicks first game against the Mavs after Derek Harper had re-signed with them after a couple of seasons in NY. I believe that game was in Texas too

I'm a Lakers fan, but those 90s Knicks teams were a joy to watch, but hell to deal with when you had to face them. Too bad management didn't give Ewing enough talent like a legit #2 to go along with him. Plus, I thought they never shoulda let Xavier McDaniel leave the building. JMO.

This was a time when the Knicks were expected to be in the top 2 in the East each year- top 4 in the NBA- ECF or Finals. They had a superstar centerpiece, Ewing, and built a strong cast around him that fought together. The Knicks have had some all stars since then but were never contenders.

I still can't believe Charles Oakley said in an interview that Patrick made them slow? I'm like dude wth do you mean? Patrick was always one if the most agile and nimble big men of his era and we all know that had it not been for ewings injury in that 99 season he would have destroyed the admiral and rookie Tim Duncan.
