CSS preparation is all about befriending books and skimming newspapers. Ms. Fatima Batool explains the need of reading both newspapers and books.
From CSS subject selection to recommended books, the CSS fraternity is divided on many subjects. However, it is united on one front, e.g., reading newspaper. CSS and PMS preparation is incomplete without an English newspaper that is helpful in not only improving English language but also preparing Current Affairs. No interview can be passed without the knowledge of Current Affairs that comes from newspaper. Ms. Fatima Batool, CSS Mentor, gives a comprehensive analysis of newspapers and books so that the student can make effective and practical study plan. What to read for becoming a CSS Topper has always been debatable, and in interviews different people say different things. However, whether you are preparing for FPSC, PPSC, BPSC, KPPSC or SPSC, an English newspaper is what you need. It is also mandatory for those who have to appear in interviews. It is the most easily available source, but not the "ONLY" source for CSS exams.
The video is an effort to make students realise the goal of reading: what do they want to take out of a book or a newspaper? Newspaper gives one information that needs to be updated on daily basis, but the book gives knowledge that is, in itself, sufficient. The idea is not to discourage CSS aspirants from reading the newspaper but to encourage them to divide their time in a way that more time is spent on books.
