The Mather School in Beaufort, SC

The Mather School is a historical building located in Beaufort, South Carolina. It was founded in 1868 by Rachel Crane Mather, for the purpose of bringing not only education to Lowcountry young folk, but a home as well. The Mather School went through many changes until it was shut down in 1968, one hundred years after its initial founding. The Mather School lives on through the Mather Museum, which is located inside the former school's library, on the campus of what is now the Technical College of the Lowcountry.
