    It's true.... the hardest part is rolling out that mat. I'm doing Adriene's new 30 day challenge and loving it. I have been doing yoga for about six months (although I slipped out of it over Christmas) and it's changing my life. Adriene is like that friend who always knows what to say to keep you going. Best of luck to everyone... you got this!

      Today’s stretch was great but the balancing had me falling all over the place. Even the “easy” days are a challenge. 😁
      Also I don’t hate the dog but the knee lunges and such kill my knees so I was happy they weren’t there either today! 😅

      @@ameliagrein5070Yeah I love the balancing postures because they taught me balance, which I never, ever had before. I am getting better at them, but yeah I wobbled a fair bit too haha

    as a yoga teacher, i 100% agree with going to a class every once in a while. even one class every week or every other week. sometimes not everyone knows what proper alignment is and they can really hurt themselves. plus there’s something special about that 75 minute class without distractions and nothing beats that savasana at the end 😌

      Yaaaas! And I seriously cannot emphasize enough how much it has helped me to show up to the class 10-15 mins early and let the teacher know that I would love any re-positions/modifications/corrections they see fit for me! I find it really helps too, because otherwise the teacher may not feel so comfortable jumping in and re-positioning your body

    You can also train yourself to want to do something. A therapeutic technique for resistance is not necessarily to fight it, but providing your mind with education until it wants to do something. For example, like watching a UA-cam video of someone talking about yoga 😉

    I think an important tip is also finding a teacher that makes you love and enjoy yoga. Every practice is so different and every teacher has its own style and way of teaching, so finding what's more suitable for you is the key. Great video anyway, thank you! 😊

    This reminds me of my daughter "encouraging" (read nagging lovingly) me to get out and walk - for my own good and I also was not getting my wonderful dog out walking. She said, "Mom, when have you ever come in from a walk and said, "well, I wish I hadn't done THAT!'" Of course the answer is NEVER. And for me? Daily yoga is the same.

    Watched this video and took notes on the day I started my renewed yoga journey, I had told myself for YEARS that yoga was what my body needed after sitting at a desk all day and ending up stiff and in chronic pain. I'm on day 41 of yoga today with a 365 day goal! THANK YOU FOR THIS. Making it a priority is SO important.

    Was laying in bed and wanted to do something but didn’t know if I wanted to shower first, eat or do yoga. So sort off just postponing all. Paused the video in the middle and just finished my morning yoga. Thanks! 😄

    For a few months I did yoga daily. I made it a point to do so… when I look back to that time. It was one of the happiest and healthiest times of my life I can remember. I need to get myself back on the mat! ❤️

      @@KirstenNaturally yoga is a metaphor of life. Through yoga, by challenging urself and overcoming those challenges (ie challenging urself to make ur monkey mind ur friend instead of ur enemy), u will get balance in life and during stressful situations.

    What helped me get through that whole “rolling out my mat” thing was that for some time I always had it rolled up next to my bed but after a while it started to feel like a carpet and I forgot it’s there. Then I moved in with my boyfriend and now I’ve gotten used to just do yoga on our actual carpet in the living room. It might not be ideally grippy and all but it means no excuses. And when I have my weekly yoga class (online because of covid) I do roll out my mat :)

    videos like this usually make me question myself "why am I not doing it? what am I waiting for?" and I feel so bad about myself that im just SAYING i will do it without actually DOING it, but this time i feel so proud of myself cuz i already started doing yoga a year ago and its the best thing ever happened to me. Thank you for this amazing video im sure a lot of people will benefit.

    I recently did two things that helped to motivate me to do more yoga. I rearranged my bedroom to clear a spot for my mat (no more trying to fit yoga around convenient times for when shared spaces would be unoccupied) and going to sleep wearing my work-out clothes! You can even do yoga in your pajamas, if you want to! 😆

    Having my excercise routines and using these approaches, I really approve of this video. But one important point that completely changed my life is missing : nr 6 - start looking forward to it as a special treat. Let this be your time and an achievement of this other person you aim to be. Observe what you like about yoga, then take these things to motivate yourself. This is my predominant drive and excercise is never something I am allowing yourself to be annoyed or worried about. I look forward to it, period.

    I just discovered Kristen because of Yoga with Adriene 30 Day Challenge which I just started. I really like how real she is. I'm kind of inspired to make UA-cam videos. Also, this doesn't look edited which is great! Kirsten seems so honest, natural, real. Just subscribed.

    Good tips Kirsten! I have one more, if you do yoga with a video, prepare some video's the day before that speak to you. its really annoying when you notice your scrolling through videos for 15 min in the morning.. (that's why I like these 30 day yoga series, I can walk my zombie ass to my mat and just start and after few minutes its like yaay! glad im doing it)

      I usually follow Adriene's calendars each month. She releases a new one every month, January is just a month of new videos. Adriene is just amazing!

      @michael b I do yoga every day and there are very few that I like on UA-cam so I have done all of their videos until they release the January new stuff or a random one throughout the year. Typically I rotate between Adriene's calendars and fight master but with fightmaster I have to create my own calendar.

    YES, it definitely helped me. I am doing yoga daily for about... 4 months or so, but now, when I have exams knocking on my door, I found myself forced to do yoga. But I love yoga, I love the feeling after and during the session, but I have to admit that sometimes... it is not the right time to spend 45 minutes on the matt and forcing myself all 45 to stay there. Better is to take 20 minutes and enjoy it than nothing.

    This video is just what I needed! Rule #1 was most influential for me, I realized often times I won’t do my practice if I know I don’t have the energy to practice for 30 mins, or if I do a short practice I will shame myself and feel badly for “not doing enough” but you’re absolutely right, one move/pose is still yoga! I’m grateful for this video and the awareness it has now brought me of that inner voice keeping me from having a daily practice 🙏🏻🙌🏻

    I think about yoga every day but don’t follow through despite how much I love the benefits. I’m an overachiever and want to do a 60 minute class when I can’t even commit to 10 minutes consistently. You helped me to make a commitment to this goal. Thank you. Namaste 🙏

    I am watching this as I did my 30 Day with Adrienne Challenge ha ha ha.
    But it's True. Commitment and Discipline is where it's at. I do my Yoga Sessions right after I wake up because I know I will be putting it off later on since I have tons of assignments to do for Uni. So better get it in the first thing in the morning! And also, it warms up my cold muscles from lying in bed all night.

    I started yoga 3 weeks ago with a class on saturdaymorning. I felt so awesome and felt myself changing (even after 1 class) so much, that I now follow a class every saturdaymorning and do it at home the other days ❤

    All you need to do is one long yoga stretching video. From the first back pop I was like yoga is my life now. Sometimes my yoga only last a few minutes, anytime my back aches it’s yoga time.

    I like how simple and funny you are, and still making a good point :) I started doing yoga with Adriene a few months ago, and yoga really changed a lot of things, mostly my perspective, let's say. I just feel great and I even stoped smoking just like that! And its funny how there is a voice in my head that is telling me and reminding me of doing yoga, like a funny alarm :)

    So glad this lady told us all off! I know i needed that and decided to practice three moves everyday already feel better and stronger. Also in these times off lockdown i'm going to have a mass declutter we collect and hold onto so much junk and garbage, rooms filled with stuff we don't need or will ever use and spend hours of wasted emotions and time looking after this useless stuff.....Going to create a cool yoga room with lots of space and light.

    For me is now so easy "do a thing" - I'm doing yoga since my brithday (2. 11.) 2020 :-) But I wasn't always like that... and I understand.... sometimes is harder... but! YOU CAN DO IT!

    Wow, that's excatly what I have been trying to tell my friends after doing yoga for more then a year but you explain it so much more clearly :) Especially I think the first two points are the main reason why people give up, they set themselves to fail by setting to high goals, you should start baby steps, eventually you internalise the habit and you do it because you know how much better you feel after it. In the end you cannot imagine to not do it every single day, at least that's what happened to me :)

    I needed this so much, you have justified so much of my feelings in a couple of your points. I've only just come back to yoga after several years of watching videos for 2 minutes then giving up because I felt like I wasn't aligning properly and I just wasn't sure how long to do it and what kind of a flow to follow. I wanted to start so much but now, finally, I am in the mindset of start small, build your confidence, build your knowledge of some of the positions and slowly add and increase'. I have now done 10 mins of yoga every single day, the same video, and I have built the confidence to find a new flow to follow and see where it takes me. I was also finding it really hard to give my all, my mind, body and heart and forget about the real world for a few minutes during yoga which was really hard for me, as I think that you are somewhat meditating. I just feel like I am ready and I really really feel that from within. I hope that anyone else who really wants to do yoga will find it within them and start sometime soo
