I have owned both the large and small (all metal) can openers from dollar tree. The big one that you show doesn't last long, but the small all metal one is good and has lasted me for years. I also have the Betty Crocker kitchen shears that I got at $ tree and they are so useful and have lasted a long time - I use them to cut up chicken breasts all the time. Thanks for doing these videos!
Hey Cathy, Dollar tree has come along way. I still say they have the best super glue for the price. Keep up the great work. Have a wonderful day, stay safe
I have a vintage version of that can opener that goes back 60+ years. Rarely used but flawless when needed. Things were built to last back then. Loved your separate meat vs. veggie cutting boards comment.... "whichever is on top". I like the thumbs up/down emoji thing.
😂@ 9:45 Chef knife "I'm sure some people who are chefs are laughing at me right now!" But it did ok with slicing the tomato, cutting the onion looked scary. Great video. I liked the way you demonstrated the products, took some planning ahead.
Hi again Cathy... Thank you so much for sharing your experience with dollar store kitchen gadgets Looks like they were ok The garlic press and the silicone oven mitt - forget about it The can opener seemed to work I think I would still stick with the name brand ones Have a fun day Surie
I love my dollar tree scissors. However the can openers did not last long so I found a Kithenaid pair on sale at TJ Maxx being using them for over 7 years now.
A suggestion...consider comparing cost and quality of products between stores. Example...the can opener at DT, how does it compare to something similar on Amazon, Walmart, or even Aldi if they have similar product. If you give a product a thumbs up...show the savings comparison or something like that if that makes sense. Anyway thanks for videos...getting use to new format.
Walmart sells a garlic press on their website from a company called Yuehao for $2.49 and it works good for me. Also the fold out thing on the Avocado tool is to help divide the Avocado flesh from its skin so you can then slice it skinless.
LOVE the dollar and a quarter tree! Went to three different locations this weekend. Each one slightly different. My finds this weekend were small canvas' to practice my watercolor. AND... the Victor Allen's caramel cold coffee for $1.25. Delish.
@@2centchick I don't think they are. I know the one in Brownstown Indiana is the best I've been in. It's the size of the old Walmart before they went to super stores. It's huge. Had to Google YES the Brownstown store is. It's fabulous.
I use flexible cutting boards, they are great. I had a cheap apple slicer but it broke easily and left sharp edges. Now I use one from Pampered Chef and it's very sturdy
I was worried for you with the garlic press. I felt that it could have snapped and that you could have gotten hurt. I'm glad that you are safe. I will never get that cheap piece of junk. Thanks for braving it and testing it for us.
Even through the screen I felt like most of those items were going to break! There’s something about cheap plastic and too much force. Thanks for video!
Great video! One of the big DO NOT BUY items at Dollar Tree are their hot pads. I've never tried their silicon one but from your video, that too is a bust. Do NOT buy the cute fabric hot pads for anything other than decoration.
The Flexible Cutting Boards: Red is for beef, yellow is for poultry, Green is for vegetables. Not sure which color is left but it is for pork :-) . Clear is for what ever you feel like. I bought a set at Aldi. I use them but don't care for them really. The Garlic Press yes, definitely a fail. The can opener. You got it to work. But how many times will it work is the question? I bought one for the work lunch room. It is hit or miss if it will work decent. The Chefs Knife, yes a fail. I think you know, a person who cooks needs 3 knives. Paring, Chefs or Santoku and a Carving knife. Spend $100 on these 3 knives and they should last 25 years. Sharpening rod to keep sharp and maybe professional sharpening once a year or so depending on how often they are used.
I had that can opener and it was NOT good. Lasted like maybe 4 can openings, and broke. Lol I've never used scissors to cut meat before. Interesting. Lol I've tried a silicone glove like 6 or 7 years ago after being unable to find a 2nd "Ove-glove". The silicone gloves are not good IMO, and the ove-glove is the best, I've had it like 15 years now and LOVE it.
Loved this video. DT is hit and miss on their items working and this video took the guess out of it. I recently bought a couple face lotion dupes. They aren't to bad. It's getting ridiculous on what the name brands cost now.
Thanks for this video and for things I really have been interested in seeing reviews for! I love reviews of kitchen gadgets! Sometimes Dollar Tree has great stuff, sometimes not. I was going to buy those $1.25 mats, but didn't end up getting them. They look VERY flimsy and thin and it moved around too much. That is an accident waiting to happen! The garlic press: I know you were trying to be careful, but it shouldn't be that hard to press the garlic through - that looked like a cheap press, certainly should have come out better than that after being forced out!!! The grater seemed like it worked easily and smoothly! The issue with the can opener is one I have had many times with many can openers. Some are just not sharp enough. At least it worked after some messing. The apple corer seemed a little rough but great in the end! I wonder if the knife was a case of being dull or just a bad knife?
I have used the cheese grater a few times. I’m surprised how well it works. I did sharpen the knife tonight and it did help, but I feel like it would need to be sharpened before every use.
i know our church bought alot of those can openers for homeless people. you can find some good deals there. its weird here. alot of CVS and Walgreens are shutting down and they are turning those into a place called General Plus, its General dollar and Dollar tree in one. general dollar bought dollar tree here
Years ago when dollar store products were better, I owned many different kitchen gadgets that actually lasted for quite a while. I still own a few. But now? I don't trust most of them.
I am shocked about the can opener. I have yet to find any manual can opener that will open a can, including one from Dollar Tree. They all leave part of the can still uncut. This is no matter the brand or price. I'll have to try Dollar Tree again.
I love that you actually really test out every product, not everybody puts effort into their videos and it’s very much appreciated that you do.
Thank you! ❤️

I didn’t see an all metal opener at my Dollar Tree.
Love your new format. One Dollar Tree gadget you must review is the ground beef masher. Just as good as the pampered one that sells for $15.95
I love the flexible cutting boards. So much easier to store if space is limited.
I agree, very easy to store. 🙂
I like the cutting boards but I usually put a wet paper towel under mine to keep it from slipping so much. Great review!
Good idea!
Thanks for the demo Cathy..I have the can opener and have used the flexible cutting boards
You’re welcome! 🙂
Nice to see you Kathy. Hope your holidays were great. Looking forward to seeing you soon
Hope yours were too! 🙂
Hey Cathy, Dollar tree has come along way. I still say they have the best super glue for the price. Keep up the great work.
Have a wonderful day, stay safe
Yes they have! I didn’t know that about the super glue, thanks. 🙂
Cheese grater also perfect for garlic ☺️
Thanks for sharing. Glad to see you back doing more reviews. Nice job as always
Love this. I'm trying to cut back on fast food too!
I feel better already. 🙂
Hi Cathy, great gadget review! 👍
Thank you! 🙂
Great video sweetie. Love your demos. Thank you.
Thank you! 🙂

Yes they were!! Thanks 👍👎
Yessss!!! More Cathy!
🙂
Excellent video 👍🏻👍🏻 very informative. I really liked the cheese grater and the Avocado 🥑 tool
Thanks! 🙂

I love the flexible cutting boards. They are great even for non food use, easy to cut up for a craft project.
Great idea!
I had the garlic press in my hands. Googled dollar tree garlic press, found this video & put it back. Thank you for your service
You’re welcome! 🙂 I’m glad i could help.
Thanks Cathy, I enjoy this video. I too have passed up these gadgets...so maybe I will pause now. 🙂tfs
So definitely no chefs knife! LOL Great video!
😄 definitely a no!

Great video , I like how you demonstrated each product , just take us shopping next time with you 😊
Thanks! I promise I’ll get better about filming in stores. 🙂
@@2centchickI can imagine it’s very daunting especially when people stare lol
Yes I like to tag along, and so do your viewers!@@2centchick
I love my dollar tree scissors. However the can openers did not last long so I found a Kithenaid pair on sale at TJ Maxx being using them for over 7 years now.
Thank you for trying all those items out for us. Also thank you for the tip on the Aldi's bath mat I picked one up yesterday.. pretty good quality.
You’re welcome! 🙂
The flex mats are great! I have several
Put a wet towel or paper towel wet under to keep it from sliding
Great tip! Thanks
I've heard of salad forks, but you have a knife that is only for tomatoes. That's pretty fancy.

Flexible cutting boards are great for lining the refrigerator!! Something spills just wipe clean!
Thanks the tip! I need a few in mine.
And a man is only as good as the $1 dollar gadget he buys . . . . lol. 😀 Happy Monday Cathy ! Always good stuff !
😄 Happy Monday!!
GREAT video! I hope you do more of these types of videos.
I would love to see you do an aldii haul.
Thanks! 🙂 I’ll have another Aldi video this week.
You're welcome. O k that will be great.@@2centchick

Are your Dollar Tree’s the Dollar Tree Plus?
@@2centchick I don't think they are. I know the one in Brownstown Indiana is the best I've been in. It's the size of the old Walmart before they went to super stores. It's huge. Had to Google YES the Brownstown store is. It's fabulous.

I will never get that cheap piece of junk. Thanks for braving it and testing it for us.
Thanks! I was worried too. 😬
Thank you for the honest reviews! ✌🏼💖
You’re welcome! I appreciate you watching. 🙂
Geat video, I wonder if the knife could be sharpened.
Thanks! 🙂 I just sharpened it and it did help. I feel like it would need to be sharpened before each use.
@2centchick Prob so Thanks for trying it,I have always wondered about those knives 😊
Even through the screen I felt like most of those items were going to break! There’s something about cheap plastic and too much force. Thanks for video!
I feel like the chef knife is what you’re fine buying in a pinch at the rental place. Decent but cheap enough that you don’t bring it home with you
I agree. I did sharpen it tonight and it did help. But I feel like it would need to be sharpened before every use.
You can also turn the can opener sideways.
Great video!
One of the big DO NOT BUY items at Dollar Tree are their hot pads.
I've never tried their silicon one but from your video, that too is a bust. Do NOT buy the cute fabric hot pads for anything other than decoration.
Thanks for the tip!!
The only items I’ve bought for the kitchen are dish towels and wash rags. They hold up remarkably well considering the price.
Thanks! I’ll have to pick up a few next time.
Hey Cathy, it would be interesting, to compare Dollar Tree items to Temu. Especially prices. Just a thought 🤔
I like that idea!
Do you think the cheese grater will work for zesting lemons?
I just tried it and it worked great. 🙂
@@2centchick OMG thanks for testing it for me! I was looking at Amazon and the lemon zesters are $10
You’re welcome!

Not bad on most of the items

That’s a great idea for the homeless! That’s interesting, I haven’t seen a General Plus.
I feel generally cheap knives are sort of okay, you just need to sharpen them.
I’m real excited for your new content this year. That was a dangerous knife. I was worried about you. Weak knives are worse than sharp knives.
That’s true! I was a little scared. 😬
Put some muscle into it 😄💪
😀
Try there Water Bottles & Travel Mugs
👍
Beautiful lady
😊
You had me scared you were going to open that Coke bottle 😨😅
I really thought about it for a minute! 😬
I can't believe you made it through that unscathed. I really thought you were going to cut the crap out of yourself!
😄 I’m a little surprised myself. 🤪
You have to use a lot of muscle strength with a lot of the dollar tree tools, most elderly do not have that strength.
You are right, it wouldn’t be good for the elderly.
Why I can't click 'the bell' on your channel?
Why be afraid of the garlic press breaking? If it breaks, it breaks. That’s part of the review!
True! 😀
Cheese is grate!!
