      Hey there !
Ryanair do have firmer landing than some other airlines but that is done on purpose.
1st) Ryanair is a low cost airline, to keep the low price of their flight, they land at smaller airports, meaning a smaller runway.
2nd) Ryanair pilot turnaround are 15 mins. That's a short time meaning that any time in the air is a time that could be take for the turnaround. A longer float, a smooth landing or even a Go-Around aren't affordable for the company.
3rd) The 737 wasn't meant to land smoothly, it was designed to land at every commercial airport. A firm landing make the plane slow down faster.
That's all the reason for Ryanair to land hard.
By the way, a fun fact you need to know is that Ryanair have a really strict rule and not a lot of pilots can join the company. Ryanair are on the top 15 of the best pilots of Europe.
And of course, I can't stop this message without this..
*"A good landing is a landing you can walk from"*
      Hope it helped ya !

I'm sure there was a language issue, but it's also not difficult to see why the phrases "Go around" and "Cleared to land" could be confused in a noisy environment, especially where one is expected and the other not. For safety's sake, one of these standard phrases should probably be changed now rather than waiting for the confusion to cause a disaster, and merely responding to the recommendations in the subsequent report.

1:21 you should’ve seen the Singapore Airlines one. It was worse than this one. It’s on UA-cam somewhere.

Just my opinion but, whoever is landing the aircraft (Either the Captain or F.O.) has the final call. If there’s another aircraft on the runway, whether or not the tower tells the pilot to go around, the cockpit crew has eyes on the runway and the decision should be obvious.

This is why standard phraseology is extremely important. Can't blame the Chinese pilots entirely for misunderstanding the instruction.

That controller needs to work on proper phraseology, no need to mix in runway and "discontinue approach" - simple " go around" is the foolproof thing to say.

There should be a system in ATC which automatically transcribes what's being said by the controller, and if the transcript is correct the controller can press a button to broadcast the text so there is a backup in case of any confusion.

So you want me to stop focussing on landing the aircraft and read a screen filled with text? The language of aviation is English, simply put the controller and the pilots need to understand it. The Chinese airlines are well known for not having high English standards and are an absolute menace.
