Im a mom to 8 and I like having a clean environment. I use too much bleach I'm sure. I buy 3 gallons a month and I fill the sink every morning with bleach and water and wash down all my services. Bleach is the only harsh chemical I use. I like to make a vinegar water solution for an all purpose cleaner and for laundry I have started to use mostly baking soda with a little powdered detergent mixed in. I do like to challenge myself to see what i can live without. ❤
We have a well and septic, so I have to be judicious with bleach. It can kill off the good bacteria in our septic system. When I use a bucket of cleaning solution, I carry it outside to dump in the driveway rather than pouring it into a sink or toilet.
I loved following you along on your RV vacation. You not only made it enjoyable for us as viewers but it was so affordable for you. That was just so impressive.❤
I’ll never trust auto-pay, although I pay most bills online. We have one credit card, primarily for online purchases, that is paid in full monthly. I make my own taco seasoning. My recipe for onion soup mix includes beef bullion powder, so it’s more like the Lipton product. Nice tips!
I started saving $110 a month just by taking my lunch to work and not swinging through fast food during my lunch break. My fast food was ranging from $12 to $15 depending on the meal.
One of the things that I do to save money for when we travel or vacation or day trips is to put dollar bills away and also coins in a jar that I will later roll and take to the bank I put that money all together and then when we want to eat out when we travel that's the money that we use. I recently cashed in my coins from last year and I had saved $235. So I was able to add that to the money that I currently keep to the side for that purpose
I unplugged a bunch of stuff, we have free light. No lights on while it’s light outside. I wash my clothes at 6 am and hang dry . I tried to make my own laundry soap and it was a giant mess never again . When I was a teacher in a daycare. We made 10% bleach and the rest water . Super cheap cleaning product. We made daily .
One of the things that I think is very expensive right now is tin foil, I know a lot of people call it aluminum foil but I remember back in the day. And I just refuse to pay the price that they want to charge for it. You've given me ideas about putting one metal pan on top of another to do the same thing. But if I'm needing foil or I think I do I've been able to find alternatives. It's definitely been worth it.❤
@@PenniestoDollars yes, that's a great idea. I found that I'm not in as much need for it as I thought I would be. I mean if somebody wanted to give me a free roll I'd take it, LOL 🤣 but I'm definitely not going to go buy it
I really appreciate the bleach to water ratio for the cleaning solution. Normally I would just (generously) pour bleach into a bucket. Also have never used a packaged soup mix before but I will try out the one you gave. Thanks
Thanks so much for information about how bleach breaks down so quickly! So helpful! Good info on auto-pay! I've never used it, but was considering doing so, so I could get that smidgen of cash back from a credit card, so I could Use the credit card companies the same way they used to use me.
Wow, that's really something about the Clorox homemade wipes. I've never tried those but what you're saying makes perfect sense and you have history to prove it obviously because you worked in a nursing home and that was one of the things that you had to keep on top of of the millions of things I'm sure you had to keep on top of, LOL
We do the same thing, unplug appliances that are not being used. I keep the breaker off on my electric dryer since I really don't use it anyway. Turn off lights in rooms. Anywhere that I can save money that way I try to as well. I have a personal fan that I use to keep me cool at different times. My husband bought it for me a few years back and it's rechargeable so rather than maybe cool off an entire room when there are others in the room who maybe don't want a fan on I can have my personal fan and I'm able to keep myself cool which is a great benefit for me.
We even started unplugging our window AC units because we had left them plugged in for years all through the Winter, and when it wasn’t hot enough that we were even using them.
I think one of the reasons why I love the spice segment that you did but also when you did other spice segments in your kitchen is that I love the old fashioned, rural home that you live in and just how comfortable and peaceful it makes me feel to watch your videos
Goodness, what difficult situations you experienced with autopay and the credit card!! Your stories really got my attention. It's good that you persevered by hiring a lawyer to get your money back. Yes, while I am grateful for the abundance of things in the grocery stores, I agree with you that it's best to try to make things yourself. I just started making hummus and it tastes so much better than store bought. Plus, the money I save making food myself I can put toward higher quality food items, such as organic soup or bean pasta.
My husband and I are 100% in agreement about auto-pay we do not use it. We do not like having companies have access to our accounts. Never have liked that never will. I have family members who use Auto pay. Never for us.😊
I love your spice segment. If you had a cooking show it would be so cool. I like how you teach , you do it along with us and you go nice and slow to where I can pause and write it down along with you.I like learning how to make things by step by step instruction like how you do it.❤
I watched a UA-cam video recently of a famous person who was a judge on a famous cooking show. They no longer are but they said that one thing that has changed in the televised cooking world is shows that actually teach and instruct you how to cook. They said too many of them are competitions. Or they don't really take the time to teach their viewer step by step how to make things.
Your comments about auto-pay were interesting. My late husband retired in 2001. We sold our home in CA and bought a 5th-wheel to live/travel in (and we spent winters in south TX, too and eventually bought a home in Victoria, TX) but we still had expenses and setting them up on auto-pay was the best decision for us. I'm still paying most expenses on auto-pay and have never had any problem. As a matter of fact, a couple of our utility company's want auto-pay and they will give a $5.00 deduction each month for using auto-pay.
Hi Bonita, hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend! You have been my inspiration to continue to make more things at home. I was just talking with my mother-in-law yesterday at the cookout that we hosted at our home and I was telling her how much I love making my own barbecue sauce, and different other sauces, spice mixtures, granola, spaghetti sauce, all different broths. Its a feeling of satisfaction. ❤
I’ve never auto payed anything. I’ve never liked the idea of companies having access to my accounts…I still use money orders so they have to wait for the money to show up!
I had to call my credit card company and tell them my card was stolen/lost which it actually wasn't bc I had a subscription that I wanted cancelled but they kept charging me for so I didn't have a choice bc they didn't want to do the right thing and honor my wishes
That was a smart move! However, be careful because they sometimes will put old card regular monthly charges through for awhile thinking you want them and need time to notify the vendors. That happened to me when mine was stolen.
I love the old ways of doing things to. When I do them I feel connected to the past😊
Great point❤️
I unplug lights I’m not using, coffee pot, microwave etc.
Same
❤️
I do this all the time and my son thinks I'm nuts. Now, I see why my dad would yell turn off the lights when I was a kid. 😅

It can be crazy expensive these days! Good job! Hard habit to break.
I'm surprised your bank didn't flag the charge $ and deny payment to that company 🤷
They said we could only do a $25 stop payment every month.
We check our bank accounts daily, but I will add our credit card accounts as well. Great tip
