Grand Design knocked it out of the park on this one. This is the first really innovative RV I've seen in a long time. After the Lippert frame issues, they've got to work on regaining consumer trust, but Mercedes is NOT Lippert.

Pete, thanks for the kind words. Mike Hums, the engineers and the entire GD team have put a lot of thought and careful consideration into the Lineage launch. I think you are really going to like our new chassis halo design. Hope you can see one soon!
Problem is the Mercedes motor has issues and welding and bolting the cab into that Mercedes frame is the issue.

Looks good. The inverter needs to be 3000 watt. 1k is almost an insult as it can't even run a coffee maker. I don't want to run the generator just the make my morning brewm
But he said they are deleting the generator with the power package, so no, you won’t be running it anyway!
Yep it sold have been 3000watt with the 600watts of solar.

600 watts is the joke. 1 rain/cloudy day your lights won’t be working let alone the coffee pot.
The RV industry is screwed. I have been shopping and the quality of the build and materials is crap. And the service and manufactures are not standing up and dealing with the issues in a timely way. When you spend hard earned dollars you expect everything to work and hold up to road trips. What I see is sub standard quality and the lack of companies taking care of the issues, You buy it its yours. For now I will not purchase one. All of them are building sub quality products.
It's an RV going down a road like a hurricane and earthquake, not a Frank Floyd Wright building. You get what you pay for.

Marty, thanks for the reply. I think you will see something very fresh and unique with our Lineage Series M. The quality is like nothing else, the craftsmanship is 5star and we will be taking steps to be a leader in service and warranty coverage. Have a great fourth!

Things I love: 1) bigger CCC! 2) the Euro winfows, especially in the bedroom slide 3) Side opening doors 4) big fold up counter extension 5) big rear closet (I don’t even think we could gill that). Things I wish I could change: 1) Add a rear ladder…otherwise I have to carry one. 2) there doesn’t seem to be much exterior storage. Not even sure I could carry my camp table, grill and 2 camp chairs. 3) I would like to delete the exterior tv, not sure if that’s possible. 4) Hoping if you upgrade the power package you get more than a 1000 watt inverter. Overall, a huge win for putting a king size bed in there…and the warranty is better than the View.
Wholeheartedly agree on deleting the exterior TV. We have one on our current coach and I haven't opened that door since the dealer walk through. Probably never will either.
I do not see the point of the outdoor tv or outdoor speakers. I would rather have the bit of space for storage. And, that inverter needs to be increased to 3000 watts. 1000 watts is not nearly enough. How much weight will the bunk hold? How useable is it with that slide in? Is there queen option on the bed? I think I would have to wait and see actual use performance before considering this class c. And, why no ladder on the back?
When I think of Grand Design the first thing that pops into my head is Ford Pinto.

REAL king bed 👍👍 Nice. Smart. Dovetailed drawers instead of staples, very good. Looking forward to production units and an inspection by Blue Ox of one
JWW, thank you for your kind words. Not only is it a true 80 inch king, but as shown in the video, the perimeter of the bed if firm, preventing "slip off." Very cool, seemless bed design with storage. After production, all of our units are weighed, followed by a 300 point inspection, then run through our state of the art rain/wind simulation and finally, the road test. Have a great holiday!
It’s sad that this debut has to follow an overwhelming distrust of Grand Design for their past lack of empathy for the many buyers that purchased brand new GD RVs with serious safety issues.

Don’t buy trash.
My parents picked their MH up from the dealer after a standard service to have smoke come from the stairs where their batteries were. Seems something had shorted. Batteries especially lithium should not be blocking a way out of the RV. In the least there should be temperature monitoring or even fire suppression. They have it on boats. Why not RVs?
I just put in my own fire suppression, Amazon, our Batteries are under the entry step, makes sense right, our only way out.
There is no safety enforcement in the Rv industry, it’s a Wild West show

I was surprised. I'm not a fan of class c's but was impressed with this one. I love the full body paint, and that it has a lot of options. I'll be interested to see the quality over time.
Not sure because I haven't seen it with the slide-out in, but I don't think you can use the bed or the bath unless it's out.
Finally a Class C/B+ with such a big bed! I’m 6’2” so I’m really glad to see an 80” long bed. My Travato bed is 80”. That’s what sold me on that Class B.
I think it was 80" wide and 70" long, it's called a short King.

I wouldn’t take a chance on anything Grand Design because they wouldn’t stand behind their RV’s -I don’t trust them 🤷♀️
I always got everything fixed where there was a problem and free parts even after the warranty was expired. I'm happy. Most of the time it's the dealers that screw up and lie about stuff. I always call the warranty people to make sure they are on the same page as the dealer.

Great debut of a beautiful B+ motorhome. The inside is beautiful & thoughtfully designed. And I love the sideways slam latch doors!
I guess you missed the fact that this is a GD. They don't honor their warranties...

@@EarlBalentine You're lucky, I had to get a lawyer evolved and my unit was bought brand new. It was out of commission for months and months and returned with the same flaw. Then, they declined to fix it.

Rewatched this again - are they really saying that with the upgraded power package you wouldn't be able to run your a/c? GD spokesman said it's a 1000 watt inverter and a/c needs the generator. We'd like to upgrade to lithium, second alternator, upgrade the inverter, AND be able to run the a/c. Would also like to keep the genny, too. This is allowed in the current Ekko Sprinter.
The Power Package is an LP Generator Delete Option. (Powered by Lithionics Lithium Batteries and Victron Energy Components). This option includes an additional 660 A/Hr (on top of the std 260 A/hr) total of 920 A/hr of Lithium. Secondary Alternator. 12V/3000VA Inverter for 110V house loads w/ 120A 12VDC Charger. 110V/50A MPPT Solar Controller. 600W Solar (std). Communication Hub. More information will be on GD RV Website soon
Love the floorplan and that it is on the larger MB chassis. Wish MB still had the larger diesel. Looks like lots of quality features. Currently have an Airstream Interstate and this looks like the perfect upgrade. One nitpick, giant compass in front glass detracts from the window and smaller names on cabover would be nice. Like the raised names on sides. Explaining construction wasn't boring. It would be nice if more manufacturers had some contruction techniques to be proud of!

I have to say this looks like they've really done a lot to stand out in the marketplace and built something that could be outstanding. Great video here as usual Matt and company. The energy of the project lead Mike Holmes really says a lot.

Love the length. Love the shower drain. Love the sleek design elements. Would prefer a sofa that pulls out to a twin bed instead of a dinette, or no dinette with a totally closed of queen/ king sized bedroom, instead of the King size in the kitchen area.
Also hope it has a larger fresh water tank for boondocking in State parks.
Thanks for the feedback Charlotte. Glad you liked what you saw. The theater seating will be standard, with an upgraded booth dinette as optional. The King bed is towards the back of the coach so you shouldn't have any kitchen intrusion. The only kitchen item close to the bed, is the fridge. But who doesn't want a midnight snack:) Have a great fourth!
Im prefering the theater seat option. The bedroom needs a curtain to separate it from rest of RV. Looking forward to the Ford AWD option. I hope you lose the cab over bed and do a twin bed in back. A strong new entry well done

Shower dimensions? It looks neat so far. I think if they can get quality right, they'll blow away the competition. Quality is #1 with all the Tiffin owners I know.

I like most of it but……
Mike said that when you get the power package, then they delete the generator. He then said that the power package couldn’t run the A/C and you would need to run the generator for that!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike announced to the world the location of the safe. Shouldn’t that information be kept only for buyers. The safe is now useless!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s neither here nor there for me though, because I would never buy an RV that I couldn’t sleep in with the slides in.

1000 watt inverter? Get rid of the propane stove. Add induction. Hope they come out with a twin bed model.
I'd like an option to have a twin bed so could have dog kennel(s) in remaining space, or have twin beds raised so kennels could go under or in open space.
Nice floor plan. Removable 5 gallon propane tanks would be great - do a bottle exchange, or fill the bottles without having to drive into an awkward refill location. Can you get the Lineage in white?

Great revue. But I had to laugh at Will's reflection in the clear coat. Pause it at 11:16 and see how big wills head is compared to his body because of the slide. Lol
😂 saw that as well. Imagine the kids at the park, playing with their reflections. 😅
The clear coat has the worst orange peel ever, extremely poor application.
We have a Thor 24F... exact floor plan... BUT
A REAL generator. New buyers don't realize the PIA factor with propane generators. You can't just fill propane at the gas station. C'mon Grand Design... just put in a DIESEL generator!
The fuel tank size. Our 24F holds 55 gallons of gasoline. The Mercedes is what... 25 gallons? So if you like stopping for fuel every 200 miles... ouch!
That shower SUCKS! Ours is much wider. Nice design, but typical Mercedes size shower.
Warning... try making that king bed and good luck. Hint... just stick with a queen bed... get a good mattress.
Finally what type of buyer are they after? A "rocking" sound system? REALLY? Your fellow campers will love that!
Back to the drawing board Grand Design! You had some fantastic trailers pre 2020. Get back to your roots!
A Thor ad, eh? NO THANKS. How many leaks have you found so far? How many systems have failed to operate when you need them? Thor's quality control is legendary for being AWOL, hanging customers out to dry while their coaches sit at the dealer waiting for repairs and parts instead of enjoying their rigs.
I was thinking the same thing about the sound system.
We got lucky... bought pre-Covid fall of 2019... 2020 model. No issues whatsoever except for staples and glue. RV quality fell off the cliff after that and hasn't recovered.
I disagree re bed size. You will always sleep better with 2 people in a king bed.

The current Winny isn't the Winnebago of yesteryear. I wouldn't wish a GD on an enemy.
Winnebago is still one of the premium RV manufactures and yes they bought out Grand Design.
@@EarlBalentine Actually, they are owned by the same company. The owners of Winnebago today isn't the same of years past.
Love the screen door, but the control pad is way too small especially for older folks. The windows are great that you can open it up all the way. One suggest to all of the manufactures, lower the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. It is hard for short person to see the mirror and I am sure I am not the only short person. I had to buy another mirror to put on the counter in the bathroom, otherwise, I can't see myself when I am getting ready.
Those screen doors disintegrate.

Absolutely love this Class C! So many great features. You can tell they built it with the rv’er in mind. I’m looking for a Class C but not ready for this one..Yet! Maybe in a few years once they work all the kinks out. Glad to see GD going into the motorhome products😁

The wardrobe doors & the bathroom door needs mirrors to let more light in the space. I’m not crazy about the color of the cabinets…they need to be lighter and better looking instead of basic rv looking. No backsplash behind the stove? I like the fact it’s made lighter. Don’t like dinettes…theater seats are better. Like the windows. No valances? Why don’t they have a swivel toilet or smaller cabinet? Like the shower but yes move the soap shelf and flush mount the shower system with a slide for the shower head. Queen size bed would be plenty big enough for this rv. Like the storage. No awning? What’s in the cockpit? Bunk over cab could use some nets for safety & catch all cubbies or something like that. Telescoping ladder too. Like the tv with tweaking some of these things.

I love the features in this Motorhome. The inside is beautifully designed with a real king bed considering how short it is. That window by the dinette is awesome for airflow.
I am frustrated by all the negative comments about Grand Design and their 5th wheel frame issues, because this is not the place to voice those criticisms. Comments should be about this motorhome.

Watching again. Wondering why the TV isn’t over the door on an articulating arm, freeing up space over the sink to make the storage easier to access. The over door area is empty space

Gorgeous coach. The bathroom is really well done. Love the booth dinette. I want to sit across from my husband during our meals and eat at a proper table. Very well done!!

It's not bad, but I would wait for a longer version. This one if I were to get it, I would lose the dinette. I would rather have setting facing the TV. And that the price is a bit much for what you're getting.
If it’s Grand Design it’s a piece of s no doubt. Fake warranty company.
Not true, while most RV/s are poor quality for entry level people, you get what you pay for. There are a few good buildings out there. It's like the airlines, they are all bad you just have to choose the best out of the bunch. Sorry for your bad experience with past RV's.

This is not boring Matt. Given the inferior craftsmanship of many brands these days, I really appreciate the time and attention to explaining how this rig is made. I believe that when you build a better prodict, you want to tewll people why itr is better!!! This is very well built and will compete nicely with LTV and Airstream, especially if the price is more competitive than those brands.

Is there an option for a queen bed?
Below the bed is framed up as outside storage, only available with 70”x80” bed at this time.

Thanks Matt and Will! We appreciate the review we were waiting to see what grand design was putting out in a class c. I think the 1000 watt inverter is way to low capacity especially for the planned solar. Others are putting in a 3000 watt inverter. There was no mention of levelers but sure they would do something. Also wondering what the gross carry capacity will be. Can’t wait till you review this again 😊

You don't. The thing is so poorly built that it can't support anybodys weight. 🤣🤣
Matt, this is a great introduction video for this unit. If you can, try to do more "Mike" style videos. I nerd out on the specs because I am a serious upcoming buyer who is worried about buying a unit that has serious flaws overlooked in normal review videos.
They all have serious flaws. But hey, you can eventually take it back to the factory to be half arsed repaired.

I’d like to see it with the slides closed/drive mode. We travel with 3 dogs. Is there room for them? Room to use bathroom? Fridge?
Good ask -- Just by looking at the slide depth, I'm thinking the galley looks semi-usable though the Fridge looks like it'd be tight since its in-line with the bed. You can probably squeeze into the bathroom, but overall it's not looking to be particularly spacious or usable in drive move. Definitely need to see it closed up to be sure.
My thought as well. My C is totally functional with slide in...bed, bathroom, refrig.

So do thieves, now that they know it's there. It's a simple matter to remove the headrest and take it with them to open later. 🙄

I had a great response from Grand Design on our Reflection when the Graphics cracked and faded GD sent me 2 fll set's no charge my next was a Solitude and loved GD forever

Beautiful RV.
I’m disappointed that Grand Design is still using Lippert frames, given all the problems consumers are experiencing with broken frames. Especially given Lippert’s unwillingness to warranty any of their mistakes.
They are fixing the frames and have extended the warranty for another 2 years on top of the already 3 years for a total of 5 years whether you bought it new or used.
Yeah now they are but what about all the people that got screwed before they finally stepped up. And remember GD engineered the frame aka cut corners.
Thousand watt inverter is 2019 technology. 😨
Can't run the microwave or make coffee with that type of power. 😨
Are the speakers Bluetooth? If not you can't play music with your phone or iPad or Chromebook.

As well, not only do you have Bluetooth capabilities, but separate Bluetooth, so you can Bluetooth the TV inside and listen to music outside, persee. They need to come with spare frame and structure with every grand design and spare glue for every bubbling roof
You'd have to tow a cargo trailer with spare parts, but, alas, im sure if ya tried towing with that rig, the frame would tear off. 🤣

That 1000 watt inverter is not enough. Even travel trailers are coming with 1800 watt standard. Needs second alternator standard. Dinette is old school. Is there a sofa option? Also needs portable induction cooktop and is the refrigerator 12 volt?
Love the windows, AC, Mercedes chassis. It looks like the bathroom won’t be accessible with the slide closed. We’ll see when Matt does his review. Another highlight is getting air supply to the bunk. The price point will have this unit competing with gas Class A units.
