So it evolved into Shelgon, who then bursts out of its shell into Salamence, who now has wings. So Connor's "If life didn't give you wings, grow them fuckers yourself" bar is a direct reference to Salamence, quite literally, growing its wings itself.

Don't think it's a specific reference "When I be ripping up villages opening up heaven's gates to infinity" This is a loose reference to the Japanese version of the hydra and the inspiration for Hydreigon, the Yamato-no-orochi. The people used eight gates to separate its eight heads to defeat it. "I bring the agony to Ghetsis' enemies like I was in the garden of Gethsemanie" The Garden of Gethsemanie is the place in the bible where Jesus suffered after the Last Supper, and was arrested. Hydreigon has a lot of devilish symbolism, so connecting it to religion makes sense. "Know that when you say a prayer to the trinity, it's no epiphany that you will think of me" Another religious reference, the Trinity is the Christian concept of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost as simultaneously the same, and separate. Don't ask me to explain it, I don't think most Christians understand it either. Oh, and it's funny cause of the three heads. "The most brutal of the pseudos" It's the only dark-type pseudo-legendary besides Tyranitar, and dark is associated with brutality and evil "When I'm through though, they'll be changing the titles to black and blue yo" The games Hydreigon is from are Black and White. Hydreigon is gonna beat you up till you're "black and blue" instead "These other rappers tryna throat chop at my neck, but this hydra keeps getting ahead and ahead and ahead" A reference to the hydra myth, if you chop off one head, two more will grow in its place. Also, once again, "ahead" repeated three times for having three heads
