I used to watch you religiously a few years ago, so glad that this video popped up in my feed and so happy to hear you have a family now. Only merch I bought from a content creator was the same fisherman’s life shirt you were wearing in that clip from 6 years ago

Years ago as a boy along the coast w Dad and sisters. Along the rocks, an area where folks slipped off the rocks and drowned every year. I slipped. I remember trying to turn around and scratch a ledge. Found one feet above a rough ocean. Scared AF. Dad got two local fisherman to help. They tied their sweaters into a rope and pulled me up. Saved my life.
Be safe brother while alone.
Climbing down this 50 foot cliff to fish from slippery rocks by the ocean is extremely dangerous. If he would have hit his head when he slipped, he could have easily rolled into the ocean and died. I don't think the risk is worth it, just to make a video (of course we enjoy watching, but at what cost).
I know the feeling! Was in a similar situation on my first dive. Glad you made it out and im sure you learned a few good lessons hahah

it actually took me a minute to realize that im watching this channel for like 6 years, maybe more who knows,
never noticed it, but almost never missed watching a new video on the day of upload, usually comes out when im having dinner so i get to watch fisherman's life and eat dinner at the same time which is honestly great.
this channel also got me addicted to eating fried fish with butter on rice with avocado lol
also bought the lingcod hoodie when it just came out, still use it to this day from time to time and its the only piece of merch i got from a youtuber so far.
the quality content and the efforts behind it from the OG is just chef's kiss. more blessings to you.
I like mixing up the crab butter with garlic butter right in the shell, mix it up well so the crab butter isn't so chunky. Then use the crab shell as a bowl to dip the crab meat in.

just keep checking the domoic acid hotline, they're on it. if mussels are safe, viscera of crab and lobster should be fine. tip for mussels: put them in a cooler with some cookie cooling racks or some other rack with some as clean as you can get seawater, then give them wheat bran or flour, or pretty much anything. they filter it through within a couple hours and expel their waste (sand and nasty stuff) and it makes them taste way better. I actually do the same thing with my crab although it's not necessary.

Not worried about rebar, worry about the dirt you put it in giving way. By hammering in that second rebar you just help split the rock or dirt you put it in. Google feather and wedges thats how we split rock.

I remember that video and to still watch you now and see the progress you have done. I am inspired to do better in life and try to be more consistent. But it's hard because of all the trials and tribulations.
That last shot Matt climbed to the top of the cliff, probably dropped his gear up top, climbed back down to get the camera and some more gear and then climbed back up. The things he does for a great video is outstanding!
Just have to drop this, always have and always will love your videos. You've been a huge motivation along with my uncle for me fishing and I'll always appreciate that. Would be awesome to see you make it to the midwest for some fishing sometime, especially through the ice!

When I drove up to Oregon a couple years ago, my friend and I went out and caught a bunch of Dungies
We took them to the air bnb, cooked them up, and used the crab butter to enhance a ramen broth and had the greatest ramen we have ever had
I personally thank the crab butter for that. It just adds this massive flavor punch

I have a tip for you. I learned a long time ago to remove the bail spring from my surf rods. You have to close it by hand, but you will save a fortune in gear. Some of the plugs I use are 20 dollars and up.

Brother! That was hard to watch. Of course, would never want to see you get injured, but many of your fellow fisherman who watch these videos go to the same places, and do the same things you do. That could have been any one of us falling in that hole. Actually, in my younger years, I've done it myself a few times. Falling in a stream with lots of big stones for example. I had a giant bruise on my thigh for weeks! I'm 60 now. Can't let that happen no more, that's for sure. Merry Christmas Brother! Wishing you and your family the best in the new year.
