- Halo is back at Robot Ruckus 2019, and this time it brought a friend, 1-pound 1-wheeled meltybrain spinner Hit 'N Spin!
For an in-depth discussion of our design performance, see the blog post: www.swallenhardware.io/battle...
Thanks for watching! - Наука та технологія
Even discounting the pit at the end, Halo did enough damage to deserve to win. I don't think Mad Cat Disease would be able to move after that last hit. Bad luck and well done anyway.
It still blows my mind that you can achieve translational meltybrain movement on one wheel!
Sorry about Halo getting robbed, but it was a great event report and great showing for melties. Keep building cool stuff!
Never heard of meltybrain bots before, seems hilarious and shockingly effective
Amazing designs! I'd love to see heavier versions of these in Battlebots. A Hit-n-Spin with a medieval mace war-hammer, or icepick, and a Mega-Halo would be epic!
Team Liftoff tried to get into this most recent season with multibot Daedalus and Icarus, but they sadly weren’t chosen to compete
I maintain that wall bouncing is one of the most effective meltybrain strategies. Great fights!
Fun fact that person shouting damn in hit and spins' second fight it me!!!!! That was awesome!
Thank you for reminding all of us how cool melty brains are
Halo vs. Mad Cat Disease immediately made me think of 80's video game art on cartridges or arcade cabinets. They sometimes attempted to create a backstory for simple games like Arkanoid or Pong by portraying them as some kind of super futuristic robot event. Bar Robot vs. Circle Robot because that's all the graphics could really do at the time. Only thing missing is a space backdrop instead of a polycarbonate box.
I'm just sittin here watching robots destroy each other and watching the aftermath of the Xj1 fight at 5:40 and who do I see in the background but the man, the myth, the legend Ray Billings
Great job! You guys are refreshingly innovative that bring a new energy (literally) into the sport. Looking forward to next time.
The best melty brains out atm moment ! I think the lower speed higher mass is what makes yours so deadly as it seems like they transfer ALOT more energy than the usual verts and horizontals. Keep up the awesome work
incredible builds and excellent blog!
Great event report, really good fights shown off there. A damn shame about Halo's second loss, but great performance all around!
0:05 I thought bale spear was done with this robot battling thing
Okay... Hit and spin is friggin sick!
Would love to see a 250 lbs version!!!
Do you plan on building larger versions of Halo and Hit & Spin? Like say in the feather weight or light weight classes?
I’m sorry, Mad Cat Disease over Halo? Mad Cat Disease was pitted for crying out loud! Pits are an insta loss if you fall in.
Lumakid 100 Don’t really feel one way or another over the outcome but I think this actually raises a pretty good question:
Should pitting be an instant loss? Now obviously, the reason why some competitions do require a count out is because their are a few situations where a robot could get out of the pit (like if a flipper lands in the pit upside down), but what about when it’s crystal clear that the robot physical cannot get out no matter how hard it tries (like with Mad Cat Disease)? Would it be fair to do a count out in some situations but not others? I’m honestly not sure.
If you land in a pit, you’re OUT
In this one a pit equals a count out, its not like robot wars or something else, and i believe battlebots may also have a count for OOTAS too so its not really exclusive.
Outside of that mad cat was mostly in charge of the match
Team Get Wrecked combat robots but still halo took no damage and Mad Cat only controlled him for 20 seconds, halo took out 1 side of drive and screwed up the wedge, there is no way that Mad Cat should have taken that
Yeah no, you won that one. Great designs!
bloody brilliant
Awesome jobbbbb broo, thats cool 🔥🔥🔥
Wait how did mad cat disease win
The pit is a count down in this competition and it may have happened right as or before the match ended, as such going off of what happened madcat wouldve arguably be robbed by the pit as it was in control most of the match and being aggressive
Judge's incompetence.
Being a competition with a pit, control probably was weighted heavily to stop it from being a spinnerfest.
Plus the judges' scorecard likely didn't have a score for "last-second pitting"
Mad cat easily dominated halo. Halo managed only a single good hit at the end. Sure it was far more flashy but it did “more damage to the arena than the opponent” would be a tough call but I think mad cat did deserve the win.
Hit 'N Spin reminds me of a weirdly shaped sword, also i swear you should name those things Heart Attack cause my god every time i saw them bounce torwards the pit my heart stopped for a second
VERY COOL!
Brilliant. But nuts. But brilliant. But nuts. I love it. :-)
wait that's ray billings, I see a legend.
Obviously it would be very hard to implement, but it would be cool if the spike could retract to avoid bouncing off walls and to keep bots from preventing you from spinning up. It would be hard to build a mechanism durable enough to not shear off upon impact, and it would introduce a potentially weak spot in the frame though.
Gotta see a fight between Halo and Project Liftoff :0
Great robot. What is the total length of Hit N Spin. Would it be easy to scale up the a 3lb beetleweight with the same electronics, but have a bigger motor and wheel?
Could you do a hit and spin build guide plz
5:45 you totaled his bot. Wow!
0:12 Hey, look! It's the meat tenderizer robot from Alta's Projects-
why are they counting out for a pit?
Heavyweight meltybrain when-
5:19 is that Ray Billings in the background?
Bro am amazed with both ur designs, how u control the directions of ur robots since u use their motors for spinning??, if i am rite which i know am not😂😂😂
Transitional drift
I think I would make my bot out of the wall material.
Amazing how after you won 2nd place with a first-time build(a meltybrain, even!) even your joke bot performed quite decently(if not for its PLA casing)
What if you print Hit n Spin's casing out of NylonG/NylonX? Just out of curiosity.
And would you release the code as OpenMelt's successor?
Demaaciaaaa
I swear that's Ray Billings 5:21! Am I mistaken?
Yes actually! His son does these events.
Ok, I'm new here, can somebody explain to me what a 'meltybrain' is and why it's called that and they started popping up in my feed?
I literally started watching these vids two weeks ago when Pawsitively Hissterical randomly popped up in my feed and I just started searching a cute slapping cat battle robot because it was funny.
All I can think of when I see these things is
"LETS BEYBLAAAAAAAAAADE!"
But I have NO CLUE why they're called 'meltybrains'
Lol at the judges decisions.
If halo was ring spinner it would be quite amazing robot we'll see what happens next
Halo losing the decision to MCD is some SUPREME bullshit!
Wow that woman's voice is annoying.
