This is a great product, and, I thank you for your detailed review. What I like: Display is on the right side of the mirror; Camera on mirror works great, and, it worked in English right out of the box. Improvements: Blue tint on mirror is not very helpful; DVR screen should have a brightness control, as it is not bright enough during the day; Be able to change the date format, as it is only yyyy/DD/MM; Instructions for installing the rear camera. Other than that, this unit works VERY well, and I highly recommend it.
Very true.. The daytime brightness leaves a lot to be desired!! It needs to be 10X brighter than it is.. Aside from that, I really like the camera!! Wish I could figure out how to mount the rear cam in my pickup trk!!
I added mine to my 03 Frontier. I found a grommet near the rear of the cab and pushed the wires through, then ran the wire on the inside of the frame rail, and back to the rear license plate. But, the cable is short, so I would think that a regular full size truck would be a problem. Not sure if you can extend that cable, but, I am sure there is a way.
I agree on all of your comments - right on with my experience. My only shortcoming is that it doesn't run while the car is turned off. As soon as power is interrupted to the cigarette lighter, it powers down. I would prefer it run while I"m in the store in case someone hits my car.

Seems like a good idea, but from that video, no way would I buy this. Pretty poor image quality. My elcheapo 720 was better than this.
Question: Can this be used as a back up camera only? Meaning, if its turned off and I go into reverse will it switch on the screen or does it have to be powered on in order to use it in that way?

Yes, you can split the screen. Also, if you have the red / black wires connected to your backup lights, it will switch automatically.
Yes. And since you can see what you're looking at eyes forward, there is no reason to have the monitor show the front cam. Best to leave the back camera in the monitor all the time, it can aid you while driving (checking blind spots).
I believe you’ve bought the version for lhd cars, they’re available for rhd too. How do you disable the microphone and adjust the screen brightness?

Menu is poorly translated from chinese to "engrish". If this option is ticked, dashcam starts recording right after turning on without any user interaction needed. In my langage it was even worse. Menu entry said literally "shoe"
Nice review. One question that I have: Instead of displaying the rear view on the upper right corner of the screen, can it show the rear view on the main screen and the dashcam on the corner?
Ton Duong FYI bought one myself and you need to have power to the camera itself, using the red wire from the camera which needs power from a reversing light (you will probably find the red wire is a bit short). Once you connect it, whenever the reversing lights get power (while in reverse) the rear camera view will override the front camera view. NSWin Oz.

I got a similar one with the camera on the left. To point the camera infront (as the camera itself wouldn't turn enough) I had to twist the mirror and I couldn't see out the rear screen.

How do you take off the blue tint its a pain in the arse this is hopeless in sunny conditions you cannot see the camera clear enough and these are only good for left hand drive cars
Good demonstration of what happens when you record against the light or against a white background: you see nothing! Thee recording quality is bad for the rear camera, very bad in the night for the front one, maybe is why he cut when cars were going to be near the cameras, so people can’t see it’s good for nothing because you can’t see the license plates.

I have the sp156 kit the same mirror but the rear view camera is different I have a square one with small lights on it but what I don't know is there is a single red wire that comes from it with no connector on it would this be a trigger wire for when the car gets put into reverse or is it a illumination wire .

Has anyone figured out how to work the motion detection? When I power down the car (and it cuts power to the cigarette lighter) the camera powers down. I would prefer it runs while parked so that I can know if someone messes with my car. I put on the motion detection but that seems to do nothing.
Also, it is advertised as a dual channel recorder. For those who have connected the rear camera, if the monitor is only displaying the front or rear camera, does it still record both?

What i need to know is while it's recording and if someone cuts me off or i see an accident in front of me will the camera automatically save it or do i have to quickly hit a button to capture it for evidence? And if my car is parked does the motion detector turn it on automatically if someone is trying to break into my car and how close do they have to be to walk in front of it to activate? Other than that, everything works. I really don't know why the rear doesn't record. It should when the front does.

+goldy goldy to lock a file you would have to activate G-sensor by shaking te camera, to extend amount of video you would have to get a bigger SD card, maximum it takes it's 32GB. Hope this helps. Kind regards
I have Blackbox dvr (Full HD 1080 ) dash dualcamera (Back and front ) for recording front and back views while driving.This Blackbox dvr is also helpful in reversing the car showing the back view. This Blackbox dvr is also used as mirror and is attached to the mirror of the vehicle. when I installed it in my car , first both front and back cameras worked well but after 02 days Back camera is not getting on during reverse and is not displaying on the screen while Front camera is working well and recording. I also made the settings of dvr default and reset it by putting a thin plastic needle in the small hole on it's back but nothing worked. There is no display of back camera on the screen nor dvr turns off when it is plugged br its car charger. Can you please help me out that what is wrong with Back camera and how can I fix it. I will be thankful.

my camera says the memory card is full.do you have to clear it every 30 minutes? i thought it was continuous loop
kev theplumber . depending on the size of memory card. get a 32G card.
You need to select the interval for the recording. 1 min, 2 min, 3 min. If this is off, it does not record over anything, but, will give you an error SD card full. This is the only one of my DVR's that has this problem, but, it works fine with this small change, which, is not documented anywhere that I could find.
Even just accelerating hard sets off the G sensor and locks the recording. I have a 32G card and it's full within a day. Then I have to remove the dashcam to remove the card, because it's in the top. File size is 1G per file for the front, 400Mb per file for the rear - doesn't matter if the file is 1 min, or 5, or even just 5 secs. Also doesn't matter if the sound is on or off. Glitchy as hell.
did you find a way to fix this? Mines recording a few seconds at a time rather than a full 3 minutes at a time

If it is in chinese, you will have to hunt a bit in the menu, but, you will see a language icon that looks like abc's, go there, and you will see English as one of the selections.

Why does my sad card show full
Again, you must select the interval for the recording of either 1 min, 2, or 3 min. This particular model has this configuration issue, and if you set it to off, it will not record over previous recordings, and gives a SD card full message.

Image quality not bad for that price. Watch on computer not on dashcam (processor not able). Can't automatically erase files. Select a max of 3 mins recording. And format when prompted by an "sd card plenty" message.
For rear camera use better another plate cam. If you can connect to permanent 12v better. So you can switch off dash but stills recording both cameras. About movement detection it needs a good adjustement on inner parts. A good reviewed firmware would be a must. Cheap dash cam usable with a minimum of knowkedge.
What about mirror does it have anti-dazzle function? Or you just get blind by the traffic behind you ?
how do you activate the secondary camera (rear camera)? I plugged it on the AV input but nothing happened, only the front cam is on display.

People saying image quailty is poor. The recording quality is good enough to prove your innosence in a crash or other situation. Its why we have these is for proof. blurry image or Not we can still see who was at fualt or what occured during an accident. Thats all that matters with these cheap dash cams.
I've tried this product. The only issue with it is that the lens get out of focus when the camera gets overheated i.e. when you park your car under direct sun. When it cools down, the focus gets back to normal. Otherwise, it's a very good value for money spent.
