ps: i changed out the stock headlight for a less "retro" one to a more modern one that doesn't attract the attention of the local police. pps: my akez has a 7 gear sprocket!
Not too bright. The stock headlight looks like a "motorcycle" headlight. I wanted something more "futuristic" in the style of a "moped" look. It's about perception. (And how fast you're going) lol Thanks for asking. Happy trails...
Absolutely no reason why people shoulx be buying this bike at that price. The market is killing super 73s right now for half the price. Literally paying for a name. Nice review though lol
Superb review. I've own a Super 73 Brooklyn, and you are absolutely correct on all points... but I love my Brooklyn! Total stress relief neighborhood cruising. So far, worth every penny, but I definitely agree with you on all points.
Here in Cincinnati, where l live, I've yet to see one single Super 73, and I'm out and about every day on my AKEZ. It resembles the 73 in basic styling for less than half the price. I absolutely love it !!!!
It’s shitty from a consumer perspective how the company makes these bikes but from the company’s standpoint I understand. They have a high demand and basically what they are selling is a modding platform. If super 73 was the only one of this type of bike then I would get one and probably have to spend 6k in mods but since there’s bikes out there like lyric graffiti x, spark bandit, and ristretto 512, I can get that right out the gate and pay half the price of a modded 73. This is why I’m eagerly waiting for a review on those bikes and ignoring the 73. But I understand the need to build the bike you want the way you want.
yeah i dont get supers marketing strategy of selling a bike for $3500, that other suppliers are selling for $1600, that costs less than $1000 to manufacture and ship out the door. color me crazy haha.
100%. Saying Super 73's are overpriced is an understatement. I don't know who keeps buying these things, aside from people who do no research. The styling is nice but you can get WAY more performance and similar parts for around half the price. Mind boggling.
i guess they got lucky off of their first kickstarter or indiegogo or whatever it was then got a bit too greedy lol. just knowing they are based in california means they are burning through money pretty fast. they can't be selling that many bikes still.@@notsoanonymous2458
I was looking for reviews for the Brooklyn super 73, so I could have something fun to ride around. The Bangor area, And you start your review at my apartment, what are the chances?
I got an ebike a month ago for $800, it was in sale from $1300. It goes 30 MPH, 60 miles of range if you pedal with it, 30 if you use straight throttle, has actual sensors that can give me diagnostic codes, has a Samsung branded battery that slides in and out of it, it folds in half for easy storage, has a 7 speed gear changer, 20 inch tires with actual aluminum rims like a car instead of the spoke wire ones, and is rated to be used in snow and on beaches. Also it definitely has enough torque to start from a dead stop and get up most hills, if you already have some momentum its basically guaranteed, if you pedal a little bit you go up any hill with ease in the right gear. Super 73 just seems like a rip off at this point, many have become that way since I've gotten my bike honestly. Just gotta do the research and educate yourself before you make a big purchase. It has allowed me to not have to use my vehicle for getting to work and small trips around town. It is an Auloor NXB ebike btw, and the deal was on Amazon, not sure if the deal is still happening tho. So far I have 160 hard miles put on it and its ready for more and met all of my expectations 💯
for the money it cost ill pass looks good but indeed you can have almost the same for less and for what you pay for it you dont get the value out off it that should be present on the bike still looks cool and over here in the netherlands 250watt max is top allowed 25kmh max peddel assist and no trottle otherwise it counts as a moped or speedpedelec where a certificate is needed for and a insurance (drivers license)moped )where 45kmh is max but the watt in power is way more 1200/2000 watt maybe more ????? not sure sucks to life in NL
I'm not an expert or even advanced motorcyclist. I took the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course and passed the motorcyclese endorsement for/on my driver's license. The reason I am saying all this, that front dive on during breaking scared the Hell out if me😅😅😅😂! But, I would still ride this model as a rental 😊.
Yeah, definitely caught me by surprise on how imbalanced the brake pressure was front to rear. If it were mine or was doing a longer term test I would've rectified it.
AT best this is a $2500 ebike that competes with the likes of Ride1Up Revv1. At $3700 it's a Sucker73! These guys are milking their success from 4 years ago and they're newer bikes have little to no innovation or inspiration. ebikes like the Ristretto 512, make any Sucker73 look like a joke, given you get 3x the bike for even cheaper. And I'm sorry but this Brooklyn looks plain as a chinese ali express bike, even below their own standard.
And ah s73 community , everywhere around the world you have people that meet and do group rides on s73, you will never see group rides of chinese brand cheap bike haha
I have chinese fatbike and in the past many of them, my friend have s73 and if you compare them oh boy, s73 wins in quality all day, everything is better, stronger, better done and stylish, now we have this chinese copies everywhere, coz they done cheap so they cost cheap. I know why everyone complain about s73 price , coz they want it but cant get it, so they buy shit bike that looks like s73 but somewhere in back of the head they know that they have just worst copy and only thing they can do is go and comment about thing they cant have to make ovners of this thing fill bad. But they dont understund that everyone who have it will buy it again coz is just best quality thing on market.

Happy riding. I should be having at least a couple more ebike and escooter in Spring/Summer.

My point exactly. 😁 Hard to beat the emotional aspect, though. Maybe it's just me - it's hard to put a finger on it.
I would buy a frame for 500 a build a dual notor beast. Frame is the only reason people buy these.
Do you have any other brands that would be considered instead?
Problem is in the UK we don’t have many options.

Which model of Akez?

It was too small for me.
What did you end up getting?
I haven’t found anything appropriate for my needs yet, the build quality of this product is great but just too small. Same story time and time again.

Hear hear!
Hahaha I bought a RX for 2300 on Facebook marketplace. I’m not paying 3600 for these
I have a Himiway C5 ultra and paid 1700 for it same specs as this with better seat and looks. 3600 for this is ridiculous
Super 73 is for rich modders wtf is the point pretty with horrible specs
That's why I call the brand the Apple of e-bikes 😫

Speed needs to be at least 45-50 MPH.
