Prisoner seriously injured by cell fire

Veenhuizen (Netherlands) - This morning around half past seven, the fire brigade was called to a fire in a cell in the Norgerhaven prison. It was quickly scaled up to medium fire. Fire brigade Veenhuizen, Haulerwijk, Norg and the Public Safety Department arrived on site together with two ambulances, Public Safety Officer and two police units who entered with shields. A little later, the mobile medical team from Eelde was also called up and did not arrive by helicopter but went to the prison by car. The detainee was removed from the burning cell and rushed to hospital under the supervision of the MMT. It is not yet known how the fire started.
