Thanks for the info - Here's my experiences with my LP2 - I found simply lowering the bottom edge of the LPs shield to the highest point on the target, sets the LP's required height to the optimum focal point (without being too fussy about getting it right), when mounted atop it's motorised stand. This is born out by the fact that one can literally hand-hold the LP2 laser at any angle even upside down, whilst resting the shield against the target, even though it's supplied with an integrated magnetically attached right angle piece of metal that aides adjusting the laser to the optimum height, I've never once needed to use it. If one manually plays around with the focal height in between multiple engravings on the larger work pieces, I found adjusting the focal height slightly changed the way an identical design translates onto various different materials differently, with some pretty interesting results. Tip: Practice on blank postcards first slid in over your target, because it's way cheaper than screwing up multiple attempts on the final product, Simply adjust power and depth settings to the work piece after removing the card, leaving everything else the same... Is that an Android device? The LP software on iOS will not readjust for landscape screens, only portrait. I contacted support and they said they do not have plans to update the software to provide for it which is, in my opinion, idiotic.

The focus dustance is the same as the height of the hood. Why not just always have the hood on and lower it to touch the material?

I just tried that with my LP4 and the IOS App. When I press the up or down button it just says "Support ist not connected"
Am I missing something?
It would be a wonderful feature if it actually worked on my LP4. I'm reluctant to contact LP and be without the unit. App and firmware are current.
Sorry to ask you Michael, by any chance do yo know what kind of oil I suppose to use on LX1, the slide extension, and LP4?
